Name the last buyout who legitimately made an impact in the playoffs.

I can't think of any.

But I do agree of our min players Okogie and Bol would be 2 I don't want to trade.

I think the most impactful buyout addition was Kevin Love last year in Miami followed by Russ for the Clippers. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying we'll pick up any quality players but I believe that has as much to do with the restrictions to the type of buyout players we can pursue as well as there usually being very few who make a positive impact.

Can be said about us.
To an extent, sure. However one of those guys misses significant time every single playoffs it seems. Our guys miss time in the regular season, but seem to be on the court when the playoffs come around.

The Suns adding Biz seems like a 50/50 call as he is a free agent.

I don’t see that happening. Might have been possible before Bol showed a pulse but now I think there is no shot.
Not true. Bol is in no way shape or form a center.

If there is a roster spot open and we didn't trade for another center, we will sign Biz.

The Suns would have to have an extra slot open likely created in a trade.

If this is the only move they make? This won't move the needle either.

I forgot about Russ - that does qualify. But as you said we cant even sign a high dollar buyout due to the 2nd apron, so even if that kind of thing happened again we won't be able to take advantage.

Also, it wouldn't be a shocker to get Torrey Craig back. Yeah, I know...

Of course it won't.

You realize the garbage we have to trade right? 3 2nd's that are partially protected in 5 years.

This is why I am saying I am in favor of the Bridges deal - because of his rep and no trade clause it is the only move that may move the needle.

Get it straight, we have 4 2nd's available. That extra 2nd will make all the difference.

The Suns bench has been erratic. It's one of the reasons the Suns collapse in the 4th quarter.

IMO, the idea is to stabilize it, add defense, depth and find a solid rotation.

This unit will not be winning games but trying to stay close or keep it even.

Those $6.5 million and $5 million trade exceptions may hold value to a team wanting to cut payroll on players that are not getting consistent minutes or do not figure into their future.

If we can find a take for Little then I believe we'll lose someone else in that deal, a 2 for 1, so we free up a roster spot. Not that I have a lot of hope for a buyout player but I think that will be how we free up an extra roster spot. I'd rather Okogie not be moved. Ideally Damien Lee or Yuta is added to make space.

I think Goodwin might has neutral value as well, maybe as much as a 2nd round pick, so I wouldn't rule out him being included either. I'd prefer we keep Goodwin although he's disappointed the last month or so. He has potential, he's young, and we can probably keep him for a reasonable price beyond this season. Adding a G-League team next year to get him some reps will benefit him as well as us. I'd be surprised if we keep our 1st round pick this year. Will be interesting to see what happens at the draft but I think he could be a D'anthony Melton/Jevon Carter type and I'd rather not cut him loose too soon to see him step up elsewhere.

Beal’s team consistently weren’t anywhere near the playoffs because he couldn’t last the full season. There’s just as much reason to believe he doesn’t make the rest of the year as anything going on with the Clippers.

KD has missed at least a month of each regular season the last four years and has been pretty much injury free this season. He’s just as likely to miss a month down the stretch torpedo’ing us even getting into the playoffs as the Clippers guys breaking down again.

There is a significant difference between missing games in the regular season and the playoffs. Guys will sit out for any little thing in the regular season and play through it in the games that matter.

Kawhi missed 3 of 5 playoff games last year and missed 8 in the 20-21 season as well. PG missed all 5 playoff games last year. To be fair to the Clippers though, Harden has no history of missing the playoffs, only of shrinking in them.

KD and Book play in pretty much all of their playoff games and Beal will be a wait and see as he doesn't have a history of missing playoff games as of yet.

Sure, but we aren't talking about whether it's a certainty that the Phoenix Suns will compete for a championship. The argument is whether the door is shut and there's no possibility which some people here seem to believe.

I don't care if the phoenix suns make a move at the deadline or pick up anybody substantial on the buyout market. If they stay relatively healthy I would give them an outside chance to go all the way. Do I think they could beat the Clippers right now in a playoff series? No way, but I have less faith in the clippers staying healthy than I do in the phoenix suns staying healthy. Even if they are healthy, who says somebody else doesn't take them out? I think we are a tough matchup for the Nuggets .

It should be a fun trade deadline although I doubt much really happens in the end. this last third of the season should be a blast and as long as there aren't any more catastrophic injuries the playoffs should be very competitive.

Right now do I believe the Phoenix Suns are going to win the 2024 NBA championship? No I don't. But I think it's kind of silly to believe the door is completely shut.

I hope so, but any player a team wants to dump that is only making 5 or 6 million isn't going to be very good, because that is a cheap contract for a contributing player.

That wasn’t what I was responding to at all. My response was about someone negging the Clippers because their guys can’t stay healthy and I think that’s a silly thing to point out by fans of a team who’s makeup is just as bad if not worse than the Clippers, health wise.

Contributing is the key. Our 8-9 rotation is some combination of:
Book
KD
Beal
Nurk
Allen
Gordon
Okogie
Drew
Bol
KBD

Will we find someone in that range that can supplant one of these? I'd love to find upgrades for Drewbanks and Gordon, just not sure there are replacements out there that are meaningfully better.

I thought we might see more of Goodwin with his homie Beal back but if you're not the big 3 you better be raining 3s AND playing solid D
