As for your other comment. How could you possibly know what they would have accomplished without Shaq. Who's to say they couldnt have used the cap space to get someone else that could have taken the team over the top? Can i borrow your cyrstal ball sometime?

abomb, this is the kind of ridiculousness I'm talking about. crystal balls look into the future. it's obvious to see what happened in the past. Or would you like to tell me who else they could have used that cap space on back then? Come on man. There's bad arguments and then there's the above. Tell me, what other plan could the Lakers have enacted to have gotten someone besides the most dominant player of his generation which would have led to 5 division titles, 4 conference titles and 3 rings?

Man, that break through we had earlier this year was for nothing. Damn man, I shared my feelings with you too...
Weird comment Andrew, when Kobe has several years left (he's 30) with a stacked and young team that is one of the best 2 teams in the NBA. Assuming that Kobe won't get at least one more ring and maybe more is a big assumption. Anything can happen, but my guess is that when counting time comes, Kobe will have at least as many rings as Shaq, and if they are even then the arguments can fly. I won't care, because my FRANCHISE got another title to add to the collection while your PLAYER only has 4.

And I can't like Kobe when he basically disrespects the man that without him he would have no rings...

Winner of gramatical post of the year, everyone.

Without Shaq, Kobe wouldn't have the rings he does. Without Kobe and Wade, Shaq wouldn't have the ones he does. No championship has ever been won by one player alone, and no N.B.A championship will ever be won in that way. I think it's pretty clear to most who have followed the N.B.A for a substantial amount of time that Kobe is going to be seen as more successful by the time his career ends than Shaq is. Accept it or not, Andrew, Shaq isn't a third of what Kobe is these days.

Except it nor not....you can't say what people will think of Kobe in the future, IT IS THE FUTURE...

And I am too cool for grammar

keep telling your looney self that

Please tell me you are not serious! Shaq is done- he is not winning anymore rings. Kobe has at least 5 good years left and he is currently playing on the best team in the NBA. Anybody with an ounce of brain would bet money on Kobe ending his career with more rings than Shaq.

For the record, I like Shaq, and I despise Kobe Bryant.

exactly right. i would bet my money on Kobe winning one ring or more by the time he retires (likely in 5-7 years) any day of the week. Twice on Sunday, for that matter. The lakers and Celtics look to be the two best teams this year in the regular season, and i have to like the lakers in a rematch of last year's finals now that Bynum is back.

By your logic, we also can't say for sure that tomorrow is November 21st, 2008. I'm about as sure of that as I am about Kobe winning more rings than shaq assuming no career-ending injuries take place.

When you're mixing up words like "accept" and "except", I can only assume it's because you are too cool for grammar.

yeah, I bet Kobe gets probably two more and by then Bron and whatever sidekick Cleveland gets him in 2010 will rule the league until Bron decides to run for the "From One Brother to Another!" 2016 Presidential campaign when Obama's second term is up.

the only people who sound like asses are you for not giving Kobe credit and cobbler for not giving Shaq credit. you're like far-right/left wingers unable to give any ground to the middle wherein lies the truth of the issue.

Look, if you think Amundson would have made a difference in this game, I'll gladly back up the truck load of kool-aid to your house and you can chug all night long

He wouldn't have made THE difference, but a difference? How could we know if he would have or wouldn't have? The only thing we know is that every time he gets playing time, he brings the energy, the defense, and always impresses. Why wouldn't you give this guy some real minutes? Who knows, maybe he could have forced a few more turnovers. It's just plain stupid not to play him.

If any logical thought has come out of a conversation with Andrew since his birth, this post would be it. Well said.

I can assume that if I go to the roof of the building and jump down, I'm gonna get hurt. I can assume that if I hit my groin area with a hammer, it's gonna hurt. I can assume that Timberwolves are not going to play in the NBA finals. I can assume that you will go away if Shaq is traded from Phoenix and/or retires.
Some assumptions are essentially common sense, and common sense is the difference between an intelligent basketball fan (majority of this board) and a bandwagon Shaq worshiper like you.

arwillian, I think it was you who back in the olympics said you didn't see what all the hoopla was about Rudy. This isn't a "told you so" question, just wondering if you've seen him play this year and what you've thought of him against the NBA guys so far?

if the suns have a losing record before the all star break,
do you think they would rebuild mid-season (trade nash, bell, etc for expiring contracts)
or just ride it out?

they'd be smart to get whatever they can as early as possible. we're not winning anything this year and we don't have our pick next year when we're going to be god-awful. Might as well get what you can, fall into the lottery and start rebuilding.

and no, I'm not just saying this because of one loss. I've been saying this all-offseason. The window has shut. The sooner we realize that and move, the sooner we can hopefully rebuild so not only will we have attractive pieces which will help lure FAs to the Valley, we'll have attractive pieces which will keep the biggest pieces we have - Amare.

I think you start rebuilding. I fear that if you wait too long, Amare just may go elsewhere in 2010/2011.

Wow... do you really require abombs approval?

A crystal ball is a crystal or glass ball believed by some people to aid clairvoyance. It is sometimes known as a shew stone.

Later, during central Europe's Medieval Period , seers, wizards, sorcerers, psychics, gypsies, fortune tellers, and all other types of diviners also used crystals to "see" into the PAST, present, or future.

Now with that being said... If I could use one and actually look into the past and see how things COULD have evolved had they not gotten Shaq, I would be glad to let you know. One scenario that comes to mind is Garnett. He was often talked about when trades came up. Who's to say the Lakers couldn't have used the cap space and players to make a trade for him? You don't think the Lakers would have been a championship team with him instead of Shaq? Again, I was simply stating we could never know. But I will exclude you from the "we" since you obviously know everything. Well, except for the definition of "crystal ball".
