I really don't think this is that big of deal. Ross was the weakest link on the team last year and was beat every which way. Now that this has happened early in camp there is a possibility we could bring in a solid Vet. Training camp is only three days old so let's wait and see what the cards do first.

Anyone know how he injured it ?? Also am I the only one here that though Ross was out of shape to start camp ??

It would have been less of a deal if the Cardinals had addressed offensive tackle in the off season. Unfortunately, they did absolutely nothing to address the position and counted on Loney's former relationship with Ross.

It's very troubling to read Fan Boy's blog to hear how the D-line is dominating the O-line AGAIN this summer.

As if Edge's HOF hopes hinged on the performance of Oliver Ross. Ross sucked last year. This will be a blessing in disguise.

I agree, I for one am glad (I didn't want to see him get hurt, but I did want to see him gone). He could be a good guard but as a right tackle, he was horrible. ESPECIALLY considering that someday soon he would be protecting Leinart's blindside. THAT thought is probably why Matt hasn't signed, and we should be expecting a signing soon. :)

I am also glad that if it was gonna happen, it happened this early in camp which leaves plenty of time for someone else to step up and solidify the position.

Well, now Ross can take time and get healthy and become a backup like he should have been this year.

The Cards either move Wells to RT (which I think he'll do good, better than Ross), plus now management has to truely believe that getting a journeyman vet RT is mandatory. Either thru trade or when someone is cut, but a real tackle (not Wakefield or a converted Guard) is needed just to make it thru the season and survive.

The funny thing is everyone on this board has been crying for OT depth all offseason.

The problem with all the whining about bringing in FAs to replace/backup OR is that they were not any out that worth getting.

Now that the main FA period, those remaining are likely to be a little more humble/realistic in what they want as compared to what they can offer.

However, if Lincoln Kennedy is coming for a visit, then his price just went up

I'd like to see Wells move to RT. He has ability, he just doesn't have the strength to drive the big DT's that he sees at guard. I'm also interested in seeing what Elton can do at RT.

who cares

he cant be worse than wakefield

I'd take Wakefield over a guy who was doing radio. I'm sorry. We should not be at this point, however.

That's simply not true. Meadows (picked up by the Broncos), Verba (picked up by the Browns...I think) and Runyan were all better options than Ross, IMO. Not to mention Ashworth, as someone mentioned above.

DAMN!

Ever since Training camp started I've been nevious about seeing that thread saying a starter went down with a knee injury.

Lets hope Ross can make it back before the season starts!

For those of you suggesting that Ross would fake an Injury to miss practicing, Shame on You! That's pretty lame!

Now is the time to find out if Reggie Wells can play RT. I have serious doubts about Elton Brown out there and we saw Fred Wakefield last year.

If Wells can play it, we have to hope Leckey or Step can do the job at C and the Deuce can hold down LG.

Cant Deuce play RT??? He played that in College

First, let me get in my :bang: for the injury to Ross.

Then to address the quote above... The same could likely be said about nearly every NFL team at the beginning of training camp every year.

It is a well known anecdote that early in training camp each year the defense in general and the DL specifically looks better than the offense in general and the OL specifically.

Agreed!!! The biggest mistake of omission by the Cardinals this past off-season. Is there anyone alive that didn't know that the Cardinals OT position, specifically for depth, was in need of upgrade?

You would think that the sight of Fred Wakefield playing tackle last year would have motivated management to bring in some viable options for depth at the tackle position during the offseason--- instead they did nothing

According to Jurecki and if his sources are correct he has been stating that Green, Graves, and Mike Bidwill all wanted to sign another DB, LB, and OT for Depth purposes during FA, but Bill Bidwill turned off the money tree.

Here is a list of OT's i don't think have been signed:

Marc Columbo
Makoa Freitas
Ethan Brooks
Orlando Brown
Victor Rodgers
Victor Riley
Tony Pashos

Yikes!

I thought Orlando Brown was decent just a few years ago.
However it always seems like Denny likes to sign no name UDFA when he have an injury :(

Runyan was never ever going to leave the east coast. He only took phone calls from the Jets and the Eagles after getting back from his vacation 2 weeks into the FA period. He even took less money to stay in Philly over an offer the Jets gave him.

we're still sitting on a good deal of cap space, aren't we? Sigh. If the above is true, then it's just pathetic. And I don't want to hear about having money left for contract extensions - we're supposedly going to be, what 65 million under the cap next year, projected? They could have shorn up depth somehow better than having an undrafted FA DE converted to a RT as our backup.
