I watched the presser and one of two things occurred to me a) if TO DID try and commit suicide, then the guy is bar none the greatest actor inthe history of the world. Nothing about the way he talked, his body language... anything says this was a guy a couple hours removed from being so depressed that he wante dto take his life and b) his publicist needs to look in a mirror before she goes in front of the cameras - I know you've been up all night, but hot-damn, you ARE a PUBLICIST! You can't go on camera looking like complete and utter crap.

I understand that, but why is it national news? If I got arrested I don't think it would be a national story. That is the very point I'm making. If he was a former player why can't he now be returned to normal person's status and not have his laundry in the news?

We know it happens but I don't think it's right.

Yeah I see what your saying. That's the price of celebrity I guess. Publicists are hired in part to advance celebrity. If they wished to disappear they could.

I understand why you would say that, but do you think it was? I sure as heck don't. There is no good that could possibly come out of this.

yeah, that would be a whacky thing to do. But you never know with this guy.

He absolutely didn't try to commit suicide...he looked fine and happy and it is clear he didn't get his stomach pumped or anything like that.

Much ado about nothing.

Yeah she was a bit silly. I'm sure she said something controversial the last night that prompted the report. She probably didn't mean it that way and regrets it. If I was her yes I would be ticked if they took my words out of context, but she clearly is not a good publicist by that last statement she made of 25 million reasons to be alive. Hey lady... how about him just having one.... his kids! She is hurting him more than anyone.

The big issue she has is apparently the 911 call she made is going to become public quite soon and if she really did tell the police it was a suicide attempt she's going to have a hard time now sayign she didn't. I heard on radio that the rumor is she told them that it was attempted suicide, she said on the call she had "pried" 2 pills out of his mouth he was trying to take when she found him. That he'd told her he'd already taken the rest and he was trying to kill himself and that's when she called 911. She's now denying taking any pills out of his mouth, says he never said he was depressed, and it was all a misunderstanding.

So if that 911 tape backs up that she said suicide and said pried pills out of his mouth it's going to make it tough on her.

Who knows, if it's a mixup, she'll be fired, if it's not he won't fire her because he'll know damn well she'll go straight to the media and sell her story of his suicide attempt.

Bizarre I'm just glad he's ok.

Our prayers and understanding....PLEASE

He kicks dirt in the fans, media, players and coaches faces and we are to love him. What world is that from?
He never signs autographs for fans at camp, "I love me some me"

get off it....

Who really cares about that. Seriously.

Of course! I do that with all my meds.

A lot of people do that with their meds...put them in pill containers.

A guy who takes a ton of supplements probably has them in daily containers so I don't know why you would be so suprised at that explanation.

People say silly things in the heat of the moment and when asked later they either deny them or forget them. Why can't these reporters ever get that through their head? She as a publicist should have known better. All she had to say was "well from the way he looked he came across as someone who was depressed. I may have said something that I really didn't mean so it's possible." All she has done was add more fuel to the fire.

The thing that gets me is that the people that are supposedly protecting him come across dumber than he does. Drew, her, Micheal Irvin. They try to defend him so much they make the matter worse. IMO if they would just shut up then he would be ok.

I think he gets a bad wrap. He is a guy that obviously has created this persona of "TO" but now he can't get out of it due to some silly people he has around him and you know sure as hell the media just won't let it go.

And also she should have taken her gum out of her mouth...what kind of publicist leaves their gum in their mouths when talking on camera? Seriously.

Is it that the media won't let go of him or that he won't let go of the media? As you say, he created this persona. He also works hard and is very good at promoting that persona. Nobody loves TO more than TO (or at least that's what the character he has invented for himself wants us to think).

It is a persona that has spiraled out of control. I honestly think he has some regrets and is looking to move away from it but people love to hate him so he won't be able to just drop it on a whim.

Another reason I say that is because of who he surrounds himself with. Michael Irvin was always known as a self promoter.. Deion is still called primetime. At some point he has to realize that he has to seperate himself from T.O. People also have to realize that too. This is how these guys have made themselves into mega stars... by creating a persona that people love or hate. There is no middle ground. It's great marketing, but poor management of their personal lives. IMO

Ummm maybe cause it never said anything about putting them in a pill container. What I quoted was ..He took them OUT of the pill container and put them IN a drawer.

No, because he said he SEPARATED them out and the pills were in the drawer.

Ya think maybe the pills were in the containers in the drawer? Or does he actually have to tell you where he put them after he separated them out. Pretty damn obvious that he separated them into something, and that something was in the drawer and not in plain sight, while the empty bottle was.

Maybe he should have shown pictures at the Press conference to illustrate!

First, name a athlete, especially of TO's standing who wouldn't come out and be the tough guy. He has to, it is his job not to show weakness. People try something like this need help and are not always privy to acting like a perpetually depressed suicidal person. If they were others would notice and stop them.

Second, The police stopped the investigation because no crime was committed, but it isn't a crime to committ suicide in Texas. The "We are not investigating" is not an absolution he didn't try it anymore than the incident is proof that he did try. I do also find it interesting that half of the official police report was blacked out. What is it that they are "keeping private due to medical privacy laws"? You'd think TO would want that report out if it absolved him of the attempt. Those tapes will be interesting.

I know people say funny things when paniced. So I can see the publicist saying suicide and it being false, but I can't see her imagining or dreaming up a story about prying pills out of his mouth. If that's on the 911 tape, I think it is pretty clear what happened.

I hope he isn't trying to be tough and putting on a tough face when he may need help. Something just doesn't sound right here.

I agree. Like only poor people can be depressed or something and money makes everything a-okay!

The Philly media are having a field day with this story. (Is this the case in other areas?) T.O. is on the cover of every newspaper in the area and the radio jocks can't stop talking about him. Enough already.

Y'know, there's many a time I click the channel away from CNN or MSNBC just to escape the depressing news events of the day.

So I click Channel 212 or 207 on my remote to catch up on football news on NFL Network or ESPNews.

What to I find when I get there?

"All T.O. All the time." 24/7/365.

Am I ready for some football? You betcha. Am I ready for more soap opera? Mmmmm...no!

I hope T.O.'s various "issues" are resolved, any demons are exorcized and that he lives a happy, productive life. But enough, awready!

Yes and yes! I totally agree. Between MNF having stupid guest appearances and NFL Network with the constant drama that is TO, it's turning into Oprah, Dr. Phil and Guiding Light all in one.
What next? Players have to talk about their feelings after making a hoarse collar tackle by accident only to find out they have supressed anger?

What makes it seem odd to me is the report that he already knew those pills bothered him he'd had problems with them before. If that were the case why would he bother to separate them out into some sort of daily container? If it were me I would simply put them in a medicine cabinet, which is precisely what I did the last time I was given vicodin after breaking my elbow. I hate vicodin, it constipates the hell out of you so I put them in my medicine cabinet with the idea if I absolutely HAD to take one, I would.

Who knows I'm waiting for the 911 tapes. the original police report which apparently is "her sworn testimony to the police on the scene" clearly indicates she told police it was a suicide attempt and that she had seen him take 2 pills and she tried to pry them out of his mouth. She's now saying that's all a mistake by the police, so I guess the best information we'll get now is from the 911 tape when that's released.
