The more I think about it, the more I realize that Ball wouldn't become the next Ariza/Bledsoe here. Instead, he would become the point guard version of Markeiff Morris.

His injuries, his body type and his brother/agent all scare the hell out of me. Throw in the fact that he's been rumored to want to play with Doncic for awhile now and I wouldn't touch him for any reason. It's just too big of a gamble. But purely as a player, I'd have zero concerns about pairing him with Ayton.

Yeah there’s not a better fit next to Ayton. He can cover up all of Ayton’s atrocious rim protection and also space the floor for him on the other end.

But yeah the other issues are valid and may or may not be worth the risk depending on the price.

You find it easy to imagine a Porzingis/Durant frontcourt? I doubt Knicks are smart enough to figure out how to make that work. They may be looking at doing the 2 max guys acquisition -- Durant and... maybe someone like Kawai or Paul George or something.

Durant will likely be after as much money as he can get and the Knicks will have no issue giving him the absolute max. Also supposedly the Knicks want to pair Durant and Kyrie together so that could make him going there more enticing for him.

I felt this couldn't be true, and while I didn't look at every single pick I did review every one I thought might have signed an extension and couldn't find any. Closest were David Lee and Nate Robinson who signed 1 year deals higher than the QO. This was in 2009 and the reason the Knicks didn't extend them was because they wanted in on the 2010 Lebron sweepstakes.

Sorry but that's not the case, not even close. Irving has been a much better player to date. Porzingis is only 23 so who knows where he'll top out and he's shown signs of greatness but he's not close to Kyrie's level just yet.

I dug deeper and, yes, you're right on Lee and Robinson, however, there was no one else.

So, Charlie Ward was the last player the Knicks drafted to sign an extension... (beyond the 5 years of club control).

Absolutely astounding. I know they've whiffed on a ton of picks, they've dumped a ton of picks in short sighted trades and they've basically shown zero patience in over 2 decades. Between actives guys they sent off and future picks he Carmelo trade alone probably cost them 4 or 5 first rounders. But hey... I think they did win a playoff series somewhere in there.

I've got no love for Sarver, I think he's our biggest problem right now... but man... the Knicks are a disaster. If the league hasn't stepped in to fix them then there is no way Sarver is getting ousted by the NBA.

I actually think the Cavs are the worst ran franchise in the league, their legacy only saved by LeBron's guilt but now their back to being themselves.

He's already complained about his wages compared to other super stars (even though he'd be making as much or more if he hadn't left to ride coattails).

He has his rings now, likely a 3rd after this season, now he's going to head off and play for stats and bright lights. My guess is the Knicks or Lakers, with the Clippers, Mavs or Nets as dark horse teams.

I actually took those contracts into account when I fired that thought out there, but what I didn't consider is Kristaps cap hold. Regardless, they'd make the space, they're probably only 10 mil off and even if it required stretching Barnes and Powell they would do it in a heart beat.
