People still making the same mistakes. Cap does not equal how much a team is spending on players. For example last year the Cowboys had a cap of 120 mill or so but only actually spent 90 mill in player salary. Because of cap accounting the Cowboys cap number was actually inflated compared to how much they actually spent. Note that the opposite can be true, a team could be spending only 90 mill in cap space but actually be spending 120 mill in total player salary. CAP amounts have absolutely ZERO say in how much a team is spending their money.

So until you can tell me how much the Cards are spending in total player SALARY, then compare it to the rest of the leagues player SALARY expenditures you have zero legs to stand on concerning this point you are trying to make.

Lots of things to complain about, without a doubt but can we at least all agree to stick with stuff we can backup with facts or at least rumor from reputable sources(of which this article is not)?

you're right. It's just apparently everyone in the NFL who apparently thinks he sucks seeing as he's been fired from his last two jobs in two years, couldn't hook on with anyone else even as a position coach, is not even in the league anymore and could only find a job as a D coordinator in a college football conference where there's no defense ever played.

I look at the results. I think Whisenhunt's choice Billy Davis has been a failure now with two franchises, experiencing absolutely zero success. That can't be argued, and that guy was hand picked by Kenny....A guy fired for failing to adapt to the 3-4 with SF was picked by Whizenator to be the DC. Just let that sink in.

The most important thing Duck said, which clearly you missed, was the only statistic that matters: Total points allowed. Pendy's defenses sucked out loud in terms of that. "The Cards ranked 26th in points allowed in '05, 29th in '06, 27th in '07 and 28th in '08. That is not good defense."

It's impossible to discuss this in a rational manner with a person who just doesn't listen. First, Whis's choice was obviously Kevin Butler, this isn't an opinion, this is fact. Second, neither you, nor I, nor anyone here knows that Bill Davis was hand picked by Whis, or even in his top 3. These things don't happen in a vacuum, and your blaming of Whis for everything shows no objectivity.

Yes they happened but because of the circumstances the scores and statistics from those games must be seen in proper context. Just like the 7-33 loss to Green Bay last year was not a true indication of how our offense would do against Green Bay in the playoffs. To me those games were not at all indicative of the overall performance of the defense in 2008 because the Cards having a huge division lead decided to take a vacation.

We see teams all the time take off at the end of the season to rest starters and the stats from those games are going to usually be worse than what is the true level of the football team.

The proof is right there in front of anyone who wants to look at the results from the NFC playoffs in 2008. The Cards weren't great but they were far better than in any of the three games.

And the hostility is the annoyance from your constant harping that all the problems the Cards have are directly related to Whis. They just aren't, and to blame him for the majority of them is tiresome and inaccurate. As soon as you stop beating that horse, it'll be much easier to be less hostile.

No one is trying to exempt Whiz from blame. However, if you're going to take everything that happens to this team and lay it at his feet than he has to get all the credit also. No matter how you slice it, we've had much more success with him at the helm that with any other Arizona Cardinal head coach. But some people here seem to believe Warner and Haley deserve the credit for all the good things and that Whiz deserves all the blame for the bad things.

I would point out though that we have lost a wee bit of defensive talent, even though it harms my arguement against Davis, somewhat.

No matter how you slice it, we've had much more success with him at the helm that with any other Arizona Cardinal head coach. But some people here seem to believe Warner and Haley deserve the credit for all the good things and that Whiz deserves all the blame for the bad things.
