I'm ok with a veteran HC being hired. I saw the average tenure for HC these days is 3.2 years. I attribute that to hiring, and missing, with all these young, first time hot shot assistants that either aren't ready or just overmatched. McCoy, Chip Kelly(college), McAdoo, the turnstile in Cleveland, Joe Philbin, Gus Bradley, Jim Tomasula, Dennis Allen, Marc Trestman, Singletary, etc.

I'm also not in favor of the old retread like a John Fox or Fisher. I guess I prefer a guy who was given a shot, didn't work out for whatever reason, but has learned, gone on to success in another organization(s) and knows what he's in for this time around. The guys who the Cards are said to be interested in and fit that category are Shurmur, McDaniels, Munchak. I would throw Haley in that group but the Cards don't seem to have any interest.

Aren't you really talking about just a couple of franchises? If you're not Cleveland, San Franciso, or Chicago, you're screening out most of the problem. Mike Singletary was a head coach 7 years ago. Joe Philbin had one less season in Miami than Arians had here.

Everything I've heard on national radio says switching back to a 43 would be very expensive and a 2-3 year process to get all the right peices in place

I don't know. I think you could do worse than a base defense of:

RDE - Chandler Jones
DT - Olsen Pierre
DT - Corey Peters
LDE - Kareem Martin
ILB - Deone Bucannon
ILB - Haason Reddick
DB - Patrick Peterson
DB - [Placeholder]
DB - Tyrann Mathieu
S - Budda Baker
S - Antione Bethea

You also have a good amount of backups/depth. As long as you have a pass rusher and a top-shelf cornerback in place, you're in a good spot regardless of system.

So running a base nickel?

Kareem ahead of Golden?

Everyone runs a base nickel.

Kareem ahead of Golden?

Yup. At 255 lbs Markus Golden is a run-down OLB and maybe a defensive end in a rush/speed package. He's the guy who'd get hurt the most in a transition to a 4-3 defense, but I'm not gonna sweat it too much.

We need our version of Pete Carroll. Say what you want about the guy, but his innovation and unique ways completely turned that Seahawks team around, their culture was flipped on its head for the better... we need someone like this. Idk if that’s an OC somewhere or a ncaa head coach, idk, but that guy is out there somewhere

But just like Arians, his loyalty to fire his incompetent assistants(Cable & Bevell) is biting him in the a**.

We need our version of Sean McVay/Kyle Shanahan.

Cable isn't the problem...even Picasso probably couldn't create a masterpiece with Crayola.

Team president Michael Bidwill and General Manager Steve Keim will travel to Minnesota on Thursday to meet with Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur.

Arizona also has interviews scheduled with Falcons special teams coach Keith Armstrong and Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak. Eagles quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo, Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia and Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores also reportedly are on their list.

Every candidate on their list, aside from Bettcher, is in the postseason, which Bidwill said will dictate the pace of the search. Bidwill wants the candidates to visit the team’s facilities.

“That’s an important part,” Bidwill said, via Darren Urban of the team website, “especially for those who don’t know the organization well, haven’t seen our training facility, haven’t seen our stadium except maybe for a game, haven’t gotten a chance to get to know the staff here. . . . Get a feel for the vibe.”

Carson Palmer retired, so the Cardinals don’t have a quarterback to sell to coaching candidates. But Bidwill noted the team didn’t have a starting quarterback when Arians arrived either.

“We’ve got options,” Bidwill said. “To me, if you are a coach, do you want to have a quarterback in place, or have the option of being a part in deciding who that quarterback is?”

The sad part of this is Dkemdiche. He's not even on the radar as a starter. Probably never will be either.

Meh...it is generally best to have a rotation to keep these big guys fresh. In a 4-3 defense, the rotation of Peters, Pierre, Nkemdiche and Gunter is pretty good. Especially when you consider the cost.

I would say yes, Kareem is more of a base DE than Golden. Golden could be used as sub package DE, but Martin may just rotate down inside. The other issue is that Golden's skill set kind of mirrors Reddick's. Maybe one of them could adjust to coverage as a SAM LB, but I would have to see it to believe a trio of Reddick, Bucannon, and Golden at OLB in a 4-3 would not be a huge liability in coverage.

Seattles problem is clearly personnel related. That offensive line is worse than a dumpster fire, its a superfund site. They clearly not only have issues spending on o line, they also have issues identifying talent. Cable can coach, but he takes the blame since he tells the FO which guys he likes.

Bevell calls a very conservative offense but I think that is by design.

2. Matt Patricia (NE)---If the Cardinals want to go from old school and zoom quickly into the 21st century, Patricia is the high-tech rocket scientist who has cultivated the formula. I think MB and SK are going to be blow away when they learn how Patricia saved Bill B. three hours a day with his tech innovations for film study. Plus they will be blow away when Patricia shows them the prep work he did on analyzing BA's play-calling tendencies. Patricia's meticulous preparation and work ethic are off the charts.

Weird ... the radio guys on the noon show today said exactly the same thing. Did they pilfer it from you?
