The horrible officiating in the 1st half of the game all makes sense now!

It turns out the ref. was a rookie and this was his FIRST NFL game!!!!

Nice to see the NFL thinks so highly of the SB runner-up that they assign on the job training to the Cardinals opener...:mulli:
Let's just say the Cardinals and 49ers will not be petitioning the NFL to have rookie referee Don Carey work more of their games this season.

First time as referee. He has been a positional ref for years. I'd imagine we'd all be nervous in his spot.

Even so, some of the calls were bogus.

Step 1: Turn off mic.
Step 2: Blow whistle.

Note: These steps are not reversible.

If we were the NYG, Philly, Dallas in the Super Bowl, then we would have had the Sunday night or Monday night game in the opening week.

However, we are the Cardinals and we are stuck with the 49ers at 3pm and the sucky refs.

I like Hochuli and Booger most out of any of them. They seem to be the fairest refs of them all.

I would have to say that one or two of their off calls had implications of the outcome

We didn't exactly prove that we deserved a better crew either.

Berry scored. Damn refs.

Yes we Scored. There was no Whisle...!!! We would have heard it in section 106 due to the speakers were turned way up so ear plugs should have been handed out.:bang:

There doesn't have to be a whistle. The ref waived his hands signaling incomplete. That's all that is needed to call the play dead.

Its the rule but still BS!!! Just another way to save the refs asses of a blown call. They gave us the ball but tell me there was one single NINERS player around to prevent a score? No way.

The officiating was definitely disorganized as far as him constantly having to correct himself on what team was penalized and all, but overall I didn't really see a ton of "blown calls" that affected the game. There were definitely some close delay of game calls that could have been called on the Niners but we can't blame the officials for the egg the offense layed out there. We were definitely jumping offsides on D and aside from the Gandy jump provoked by the DE, the false starts were legit too.

Well,
It was unfortunate that we drew the Rookie Ref, but thats just the life of a Cardinal. I do feel for him...it can be very nerve racking. I officiate high school football, and still get that uneasyness before each game. That being said, there were some calls that may have altered the finish a little, but the rookie ref didn't throw one interception, give up one sack or commit one false start. We need to play better, and the officials calls will have less impact on the game results.

Wasn't the play ruled a fumble and then challenged by Singletary?

It was ruled incomplete, challenged by the booth because it was within 2 minutes IIRC. I haven't had time to rewatch the game.

Looks like the NFL has doomed the NFC West to being ref'd by this douche!

So far, he has worked nothing but NFC West matchups and leads the NFL in replay reversals.

From Sando:
Referee Don Carey, who accounted for five of 19 replay reversals through Week 2, made his league-leading sixth reversal a memorable one when he returned possession to the Bears following Matt Forte's fumble at the Seattle 1-yard line. Linebacker David Hawthorne had recovered for the Seahawks, who held a 13-0 lead at the time.

Carey suffered two reversals -- and Mike Singletary's ire -- while working the 49ers-Cardinals game in Week 1. He suffered three more reversals in Week 2. The NFL's 17 referees have suffered 26 replay reversals in 48 games this season. More than a third involved calls made by Carey, a rookie referee, and second-year ref Al Riveron.
