God I hate Mike Ashley. Selling our best player for a massive profit, with no replacement. Our to striker is on loan and has almost no chance of coming back next season. Our other strikers are either old and out of contract or terribly out of favor and looking to be sold too. The idea for reinforcements? Another temporary loan deal for a striker that would end in the summer. Throwing upwards of 15 million at another French midfielder who probably has no shot of replacing Cabaye for real. The sad thing is, if we are to replace him and not tank the rest of the season, we'll probably have to use all but around 5 million to do so. Is that kind of profit margin enough to get rid of your best player? NO!!! Oh, for *4804rr=048 sake!

Yep, as expected. A loaned striker and absolutely no replacement for our best player. Jabba the Hut--I'm sorry, Mike 'Douchebag' Ashley, looked at the table and figured, 'hey, we're safe from going down and we're probably cemented in 8th place...why bother trying to fix how gutted the team just got?' God, I hate Ashley.

Ugh, just ugh. Sadly, this won't even embarass the club into spending money in the summer. We're the only team in Premiership history to go this long without making a single permanent signing. No joke! Or rather, a big fat joke on Newcastle fans, as Jabba laughs all the way to the bank.

Yeah, this season's flushed right down the toilet. We've had 37 points for weeks now, and I firmly believe we're in a relegation battle. That's how bad we've collapsed, and no wonder why.

Nice cracking win today. Kind of pointless, though, as we're secure in the top 10 and can't really get a European spot. Pardew acted the idiot on the touchline, though. His temper's going to get him another touchline ban out of this one.

It'd be nice to beat Stoke today, but I don't see it happening. The bitch French players are all 'playing hurt' to protect themselves for the WC. It's gotten so bad that even the manager is starting to get frustrated that players who were due to return weeks ago continue to just barely remain out. If (when) we lose today, Stoke will be just 3 points behind us. It's looking increasingly likely we'll finish 10th, not 9th. Sure, we technically have a chance at 8th, but that ain't happening.

Siem de Jong, Jack Colback, Remy Cabella, Daryl Janmaat almost in (to replace Debuchy), Ayoze Perez (one for the future)...good business so far. Once Janmaat's in, the defense is set, with depth and versatility. The midfield is not only set, with depth, but it has added a ton of creativity.

If only we could sign some strikers now :(

who?

:championship:

:)

Since there's more chance of us going down to the Championship than winning the Premier League Championship, I'll not join in the joke :D

Nah, in all seriousness, the team's looking a lot better. Thank God. Because if we kept selling without replacing, the Championship would have only been a short stop on the way further down.

Riviere and Cabella look like two great signings thus far. Newcastle have done fantastic business in this window, and I think we can make a nice run this year.

Cannot wait! It'd be nice to not only topple the reigning champs on opening day, but take them to the woodshed to make up for the epic ref screw-job we got hosed by in our last meeting.

Of course, two of our best players, Tiote and De Jong, are out, so I'm not too optimistic. Still, we have far more firepower in the lineup than we did the last half of last season, so who knows?

We didn't get the result, but man, that was an encouraging game. Without our numero uno playmaker De Jong, we gave the reigning champs absolute fits in the 2nd half. They ended up with I think 5 yellow cards. And man, did we come close to the leveler; Sissoko should have scored. Man City got the late 2nd goal on the break. Ah well. We looked 1,000 percent better than the whole 2nd half of last year, so we should be good.
