Yahoo!!!!! Haha, Chelski, crushed by the skunks.

Man, I really thought Pardew had thrown this game away with our tactics, but thankfully Chelski was really off their form today. We bunkered and played on the counter the entire frickin' game, save for spells in the second half when we had spells of control in their end. We almost payed for it, too, with Terry putting a header off the crossbar early.

Still, it worked out. It seems like we just have Chelski's number lately. Maybe all that time Pardew spent shadowing Mourinho (sp?) when he was out of a job gave him insider info or something. I still don't think Pardew's the answer (see the team's approach to the Sundy game and his sticking with the woeful Santon), but I love the result today.

What a win! I wish I could have seen it, but I'm sure I'd have been dying for most of the match. It doesn't look like we played much defense, but Timmy sets the record for saves in a Premiere League match, and Newcastle walk out of London with 3 points. I'll take it any day of the week. Heck, even Sunderland did us a favor by beating Man City.

Man, Pardew just tries to KILL this team with poor management. So we absolutely boss the first half, with two goals that could have been 3 or 4. We haven't scored 3 in almost a year, I think. We had a clean sheet and were set to cruise through the second half. So what do we do at the half? Change tactics, drop back deep in our own half, invite, INVITE Norwich to attack us, and just play to counterattack. Sure, okay, if it's the 80th minute or so and we're still up 2-0, that's fine. For the entire half? IDIOCY!

So what happens? We of course concede a goal and have to sweat out the rest of the game, because, surprisingly :sarcasm: we've let Norwich back in the game.

He almost cost the team 2 or even 3 points from a boneheaded change in tactics. Argh!

Oh. Hell. Yes! What a fantastic victory, and from the way the game went, well deserved. For all I've blasted Pardew this season, I have to give him total credit for today. Playing for control of the midfield and inviting pressure could have led to disaster, but it totally frustrated Man U on the day. When Man U started coming on early in the second, we could have bunkered, but instead he brought on an offensive sub in Hatem Ben Arfa. Granted, Ben Arfa didn't figure much in the game, but signaling to our team that we weren't backing down, I think, led to that spectacular goal.

What a win. I worry about injuries to Debuchy and Cabaye, but what a win.

Oh man, Southampton is a real treat to watch. I had it on in the background as I did housework, and the Sunderpuke game too. When I actually want them to win one, they choke. Urgh.

They really, really missed Rooney that game. If Cleverely and Jones are the best they can offer in midfield, they are going to get beat by a lot of teams this year. They can't hold the ball, make passes that start the offense, nothing.

Love seeing MU lose.

The Magpies are flying high, baby!

What a turnaround this team does. They truly seem like the Cardinals; I can see why you like them. Break your heart and thrill you at the same time.

From 2 seasons ago in the hunt for Champions League places, to last year being relegation candidates to this year looking like a top 6 or 7 team.

Very interesting to watch.

It's actually a pretty simple formula for this team. If they keep/have/sign enough good players to have a good but shallow squad, AND go relatively injury-free, they're pretty good. Regardless of players, if they sustain too many injuries, even if they aren't enough to debilitate a good-spending team, they suck. If they sell too many good players/don't sign enough replacements, they suck.

What I like about Newcastle is they seem a bit better than regular mid-table teams in that, when conditions are right, they play out of this world. Aston Villa CAN do this, but it's hit or miss with them. When Villa's on fire, man, they're fun to watch, but their defense fails them too often. Southampton's kind of like Newcastle too, and they're also fun to watch.

I watched the Southampton game last night. Their defense let them down that game. They should have beaten Tottenham.

Newcastle smells!

:D

I was actually reallly pissed on that play, because the buildup had a non-call on an Arsenal player making a foul, and then the free kick came on a ghost call. After those two, I knew without a shadow of a doubt they'd score. Still and all, why in the heck did Wenger park the bus? Dumbest thing I've aver seen. They managed the win, but why invite the pressure when you're bossing the game?

He's been doing that a lot this year. With a lead he will bring in an extra FB or two. It's been nerve wracking but it's been working for the most part. I don't know why he took off Theo though. With a lead, the counter attack will be open and Walcott is the perfect weapon in that scenario.

Hey Newsies, that haircut works on Giroud, but when 6 guys on your squad have it, it looks silly.

And maybe count to 100 before getting another tattoo?:coach::bang:

Hey, as long as Debuchy plays the way he is, he can wear a pink tuxedo and tie fish around his neck, for all I care :D

I don't understand how Debuchy can get a red card without making any contact, but then the terrible foul against Cabaye never even draws a yellow. I mean, yes, Debuchy lunged studs up with both feet, but never hit anybody. That's just plain silly to get a red for not committing a foul, even. I'm hugely relieved Krul didn't get one there near the end, because it was probably deserved.

Granted, my talking about his form more than likely jinxed him. :stick:

And now Coloccini is down. Taylor wanted back in the squad, so here's his chance. Will Santon move to right back with Haidara at left, or will Mbiwa slide to the right with Taylor coming back into the starting 11? Hmm.

Good to know the refs were wearing blue and white for this game. The best team certainly did not win and Newcastle were clearly cheated out of a draw, at the very least. The way the game was going, the Magpies could have easily won. A clear goal disallowed on a gutless call by the referee, and it would have been 1-1. Man City were on the back foot and reeling for most of this game. Sure, they got one in injury time on the break, but only because Newcastle had to throw themselves forward to try for an equalizer they'd already scored in the first half.

I hope that ref never gets the nod for another game in his career. The linesman had no view of the play, the ref had a perfect view of the play, and yet he went with the stupid linesman's stupid shielded view. Gutless, gutless officiating.

Edit: And, of course, the call is wrong: http://talksport.com/football/exclusive-halsey-tiote-goal-should-have-stood-14011275275
