Massive, massive win. What a stunner from Townsend, and what a heart in throat moment with the penalty save. The Sunderland late equalizer sucks, but we're, for now, temporarily out of the drop zone. And we have Villa next week!

What a great free kick from Townsend. Perfect placement.

Does not look good for New Castle. Mitovic missing the goal on that one play really can come back to bite them in the rear. Look at it like this. They will be in the Championship division with my team Fulham so we can talk smack to each other.

Yeah, but is there even a way to watch games?

Are there places to watch reliably online?

I watch almost all my games on the reddit football download section. I have to watch it an hour or two after the game ends, but this is as reliable as it gets IMO.

Welp, there it is then. As expected. Benitez should be given 100 percent control and lavished with cash, so we can pray to God we can somehow, some way, keep him. Everyone else, everyone he doesn't want, needs to go. Now.

Carr? Dog crap. Thanks for all the French flops, you *******. Charnley? He's the idiot who hired McClaren, and the idiot who failed to fire him. He gave McClaren eighteen free days, a training camp in Spain, and two extra games, before pulling the trigger. If he fires McClaren and Benitez comes in for the camp, the Mags would already be safe, and Norwich and Sunderland would be relegated before the final day.

But there's no changing what happened, and Sunderland sure in the hell went out there today and EARNER their place in the Premiership. Hats off to them. I'm glad there will be Sunderland and Middlesborough to represent the northeast in the top flight. Hopefully both will stay up and the Mags will get promoted at the first time of asking.

Wow, what a way to end the season. Sad to go down, but proud of pounding Spurs into mincemeat at the end. Even better, it was the best possible result and atmosphere to try to convince Benitez to stay on. And he just might, if only Ashley gives him EVERYTHING he wants.

Depends on if you sell anyone. Moussa Sissoko and Gini Wijnaldum need to stay.

Sissoko couldn't be arsed in the premier league, you think he'll care playing Burton Albion away on a Tuesday night....?

Best thing Rafa Beneathus can do is identify those few players who showed any heart last year, convince a couple of the better players to stay and build a team around them. The two centre halves that finished the year, Elliot, Townsend if he will stay, Perez for the future. Players like that and ship out the rest who have had Newcastle struggling for years (often not through lack of quality but desire). hard working players like players like ginger Jack will be world beaters in the Championsip as some of the teams are that poor and with a little quality and the right attitude it's there for the taking.

The managers ability to pick up some English grafters and work them around who he keeps will be the key. I'd like to say good luck to them, but I wouldn't mean it. What I will say is, they are the biggest club in there with Aston Villa and with their revenue should be able to bully it a little bit. This with being able to pick and chose from a narrowly relegated squad should see them in good fettle. FTM ;)

Actually, we need to sell both of them, IMO. Neither can be bothered to give full effort a lot of the time, so there's no way they'll be willing to give the Championship a go. EoT is spot on on this one.

You pretty much nailed it in this post, EoT. I mean, spot on. I think Mitrovic will thrive, because big physical forwards that are good in the air do well in the Championship. Gini and Sissoko can both go, as can Janmaat (attitude). I'd love to keep Townswend and Shelvey too. Dummett will thrive down there too. Give some of the kids like Sterry a shot, sign some solid English players, maybe add a big signing because we do have the cash, and we should be straight up.

Without Benitez, I'd have worried we might slip even further down. Besides his obvious coaching ability, he's going to be able to convince key players to stay, IMO.

Thank the football gods Newcastle convinced Rafa to stay. Without him, I can't imagine the shambles this club would be in. With him, they're making huge changes, from training facilities to the squad. Townsend left--I feel a bit hard done by it, after we gave him a lifeline no one was offering--but fair play, he wants in the Premier League. Still, immediately replacing him with Ritchie, bringing in a top keeper in Sels (sp?), and a proven Championship striker in Gayle, is very good business so far. And, aside from some normal yearly fits of yapping, there hasn't been much negative press from Sissoko and Wjinaldum (sp?), and no bitching at all from Janmaat.

The squad's starting to shape up nicely. Add some defensive cover, another attacker, and squad depth, and Newcastle will be ready to tackle the Championship.

Gamez through the door, so Janmaat might be surplus to requirements. A nice cheap buy on Isaac Hayden, when many thought he could only be had on loan because Arsenal wouldn't part with him permanently. Arsenal letting go of a promising young defended? I think Wenger thinks you can play without any central defenders LOL Cisse out, so another striker is needed, but he was terrible for a long time, and often injured.

Well that did not go as planned for New Castle as my team Fulham won 1-0. Still a long way to go.

Oof, yeah, that one sucked. I have to (or I'll go insane) attribute it to the shock of learning what Championship soccer is all about. At least it was Fulham, a club I also like. Now Newcastle had better win against Huddersfield, I think it's called!

Was it you, Cardsfanstl, who mentioned where to watch Championship games online?

BEIN sports has some Championship games on it. I unfortunately do not have that channel on my system so I have to try and follow online as best I can. Usually through the team website. I will have to research and see if there is a website to watch them.

Yeah, I watched the first game on BeIn, and I imagine they'll air a lot of the Magpies games this season. Tomorrow's won't be one of them, though. Someone--a Fulham fan--posted a site they watch a lot of the games online through. I just can't remember which site it was and which page to find it on lol

GD Championship refs. GD CHAMPIONSHIP REFS! Gifted the minnows a victory. As poorly as Newcastle played against Fulham, they also gifted Fulham the victory with ignoring two hand balls. I mean, I knew the Championship had a lower level of referees, but holy hell, are they horrid.

This isn't to excuse Newcastle in any way. It's not good enough--it's not NEARLY good enough. The Rafalution has seriously stalled, and there's no way, IMO, we're going back up. Not at this rate. Not unless results change, drastically and quickly.
