I'd like to see Newcastle, Leeds, and either Fulham or Sheffield Wednesday.

You're not going to get that. It's going to be Newcastle, Brighton & Hove Albion, and another team. With just 6 fixtures left, BHA is up by 9 points (10, really, because of Goal Differential). Granted Huddersfield has a game in hand, but the next closest team, Reading, is 1 point behind, and then Leeds is a point behind them. Leeds would need to gain 12 points on BHA in 6 games. Technically possible, but not really.

Honestly, though I favor Leeds and Fulham, I don't mind BHA going up. Newcastle did Hughton tremendous wrong when they sacked him, and he's done incredible work with BHA.

I guess, since I think Newcastle and BHA are locks, Leeds would be the team I want to see go up.

I haven't followed the Championship at all. In fact, I haven't even looked at the standings. Leeds has a storied history and I'd like to see them back. A buddy of mine roots for Wednesday which is the other reason. Other than that, I got nuthin.

I don't blame you! If my team wasn't there, I wouldn't be following at all either. Leeds is an old powerhouse, and I always liked them, and Fulham was the team with a bunch of Americans. Those were my reasons.

What a strange game. Newcastle earn an undeniable penalty then, when converted, the ref makes a mystery call, gives a free kick to ALBION, and negates the penalty. No one knows why, and the ref admits his gross mistake after the game. Should have been a re-take on the penalty.

Still, the Magpies endure and grind out a 1-0 result. Good stuff. Almost have that promotion clinched!

The ref is mortified, has abased himself in apology, and, needless to say, will NOT be managing on the weekend. He should never ref again. How in the world, after consulting with the other THREE officials, can you make such a mistake? It should be impossible, and argues strongly for the use of technology review (outside reviewer definitely overturns that).

Eesh. There were at least 4 Albion players in the box and none from Newcastle that I could see. Did Gayle go into the box first? If so I think the rule needs to be changed to what the ref ultimately decided. Why should Newcastle get a retake if they jumped the gun and rushed the box early? It gives the kicking team an unfair advantage.

Whatever, that was easily one of the worst decisions I have ever seen from that one replay that's for sure.

Big opportunity wasted, but this was always going to be a tough game. Survived the mistakes in the first half, got on the front foot in the second, only to let Wednesday snatch a goal against the run of play. The second one stunned Newcastle and it took a long time to recover. Almost snatched the equalizer late, but not enough time left.

Hey, the ref was pretty much perfect, and Huddersfield lost, too, as did Reading, so at least there's that.

Sorry Fulham!

Man, what a fun, exciting, dare I say magnificent game to watch...until the final minute of injury time. Granted the moronic Leeds fan that invaded the pitch gave them the time for the victory (and it did, no two ways about it), you can't complain about it. That was a gross defensive error and Wood took advantage of it. Just have to kill the game out there.

Still, I'd have bitten your hand off for a point before the game. Newcastle still in the drivers' seat for automatic promotion. At this point, Brighton were always going to pull away, playing the likes of Wolves and QPR while we play Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds. No worries there. As long as Newcastle go up automatically, all is well.

And Yedlin returned, and looked good!

Oh, I forgot to mention, Newcastle get screwed by the refs again. Had a stone-cold penalty not called. That puts it up to at the very least five points the refs directly screwed the Magpies out of this season--3 against Forest and 2 here. That doesn't even count Fulham to open the season, where they were denied 2 clear penalties.

I had to watch the replay missed it live.

lost the 2 points right at the end. Brings back bad memories.

And yedlin came on for Ritchie and almost instantly helped create a goal. The commentary we're laughing at his pace(in a good way) when he made his dash.

Ugh. Obviously, the rot is still in the team. Too many whole games where the Mags have completely switched off. Looks like that late equalizer on Friday stayed in their heads, which is 100 percent unacceptable. There are no more excuses. Derby helped big time by drawing late with Huddersfield, but now Reading have snuck into the race. One win out of three should be enough to see Reading off, but Huddersfield have that extra game. BHA are up, and the race is over--I'm calling them Championship champs as of now.

3 games for Newcastle, 3 for Reading, and 4 for Huddersfield. 90 is the magic # for Newcastle now. Two wins seals the deal for Newcastle, as the most Huddersfield get out of 4 games is 12, and Newcastle are on 85 and Huddersfield 78. A win and two draws also does it because of goal differential. Fulham needs to help the Mags out next week by beating Huddersfield, which will accelerate things.

It's squeaky bum time, as Sir Alex used to say. Time for the Mags to FRICKIN' SACK UP!!!

Yeah I think they are just in a bad way now. they were so high about a month ago the thought of not winning the league or being close, but solid #2 was impossible. Now here we are. When things get this bad it is not so easy to just flip a switch(see arsenal). I think injuries took their toll as well and a short turnaround combined with going on the road is not so easy. I think they will finish 2nd. with several days to recover I think they will respond. I hope that the confidence is still there. Hopefully this prepares them for the ups and downs of what they will face next year should they make it. but yes they have to make it there first.

Yeah, injuries decimated the Mags alright. Most teams in the Championship that lose half of their defense, their defensive holding midfielder, and a top striker, would go on a long losing streak.

Well the Mags are going to be in the Premier league next season. Congrats. Fulham currently occupies the 6th and final playoff spot but has a decisive Goal differential on the other playoff contenders. Big away game Saturday against Huddersfield. I think it will come down to the last game of the season away at Sheffield Wednesday. Winner is in the playoffs.

Wow, it's Fulham and Wednesday on the final day of the season? What a massive game! The Mags aren't quite up yet. I'd really like you lot to beat Huddersfield for them on Saturday so a win Monday puts it in the bag. Oh, and sell us Cairney in the summer window too, will ya? :D

If Fulham is not promoted I expect Cairney and quite a few others to be signing with premier clubs next season. Sucks if that happens but it is what it is.

Fulham is playing really well as of late. Let's see what happens. COYW!!!!!

Yeah, it's a conundrum for me, with both Fulham and Leeds. I like both clubs and would love to have them back in the Premier League with Newcastle, but...I'd love Newcastle to buy Cairney from Fulham and Jansson (sp?) from Leeds. Tough to do if the given team gets promoted lol

But hey, only one could go up, so we'll see. Just win this weekend, Fulham. Just win on Saturday.
