You came in at the 32nd minute? You lucky bastard. That first half was one of the most pathetic displays I've ever seen, our relegation seasons included. The saving grace is that Villa is THAT bad. If the Mags play a half like that against BHA, they'll be down 3-0 at the break. Yedlin was awful for large swathes of the game, but got better in the 2nd half. Ritchie and Shelvey were doing okay, but right after any good play, we'd give it right away. The 2nd half was MUCH better, and I have to agree on Darlow's play. Horrific turn-off in a terrible position, but Darlow stood tall and made himself big to make the save. He got REALLY lucky earlier, saved probably from a penalty and possible red for taking a player down--they called offsides to save the ref from making a decision. All in all, though, Darlow bounced back well.

OMFG, I can't BELIEVE Gayle went out injured again. It was a hammy, though I don't know which one :(
Lol I had it recorded but yeah I came in and watched live as gayle was getting subbed off. Rafa Benitez said it could be the same as before with his leg but too early to tell.

I forgot about that offside play with darlow. I had a laugh about it Only after the offside ruling.

A thrilling comeback, which gives the Mags some momentum because of how it unfolded, but man, Darlow has GOT to be benched. He has single-handedly dropped 6 points for us in the past month with his howlers. SIX POINTS! That would put us well clear of Huddersfield, who thankfully also dropped points. At least if Brighton draws or loses, we maintain the status quo or even gain a bit on them.

So, this could have been far more disastrous than it ended up.

fudge YOU, BOBBY MADLEY! fudge YOU AND YOUR freaking NEWCASTLE HATRED!

I laughed when so many supporters were upset at his appointment. Surely he's not a Newcastle hater. Surely the Huddersfield Town fan ref wouldn't go after the team they're chasing. SURELY we wouldn't have a repeat of his crap decisions directly costing us games.

Well, fudge YOU, BOBBY MADLEY!

What a thrilling first half. BHA come out strong, have some great chances, but Newcastle push back and could have easily netted several times. As intense as a 0-0 first half could possibly be, IMO.

Oh, wait, no, I forgot Bobby Madley's reffing this one, that effing Muppet. BHA 0, Newcastle 0, Bobbie Effing Madley 1. Unfortunately, Madley's playing for BHA today, so Newcastle's down 1-0.

I mean, clearly it wasn't just a mistake, because if he awarded a penalty for every time an attacker fouls a defender in the box, Newcastle would have had three penalties themselves. Hey, if you're going to be a cheating bastard, at least be a FAIR cheating bastard, eh?

Well, I think that's karmic justice! The Mags get a fluke goal, then an excellent equalizer. A 1-0 loss would have been a truly harsh scoreline, given Madley's gross incompetence. Even 1-1 would have been unfair, given how dominant the Mags were in the second half. A fine 2-1 victory is just about right :)

Wow I missed the game. One I never realized until yesterday that sky on demand shows all of the championship highlights for every match. Two the game Tuesday was on sky and I didn't realize it.

I saw the highlights and it just angers me that I missed it. Huddersfield town though will be on sky. It looks like sky is picking up a lot of the games now.

And yes another cheap Goal surrendered vs Bristol city. That is a problem. The penalty vs Brighton I agree with you. So Yes the equalizer was justice I bet the fans enjoyed that one. Wish we got those favorable calls in Norwich.

As of Tuesday, the Brighton game was the biggest of the season; as of today, Huddersfield Town away is the biggest game of the season. Heck, win it, and the Mags can be about 90 percent sure of promotion. This is a win that can put the promotion worries to bed. Howay the lads!

So the draw with Bristol had me miffed but that's typical. If you cut some of the howlers the ascension would be permanent. But to be fair They find a way to get results. Can't wait for next season but enjoying the moment. As far as yedlin looks like he made the right move leaving that other place. What's their name again? As I recall one Geordie man said it was s-hole

I dunno. It's someplace that'll be hosting LOTS of Championship-level games next season :D

I have to say, that's probably Newcastle promoted, then. Up by 11--12 points, really, with GD, with only 10 games to go. Up by 5--6 points, really, with GD, to win the league as well. Newcastle's as good as in the Premier League again. Sadly, it looks like BOTH Sunderland and Middlesborough will be down next season. So much for the North East.

Next Saturday Fulham travels to Newcastle. We are trying to move into the playoff spot. Currently 5 points away. Consistently winning but teams above them keep winning.

The game against Newcastle will be big test to where the Whites team stands.

I'd love it if you made the promotion playoffs, but of course want to avenge our early season loss against you lot. I do want to win, but you might catch the Mags celebrating too much.

Well they are playing so well right now as far as end result goes. Could be even better. Just keep the throttle down and for sure they are in. Can't do anything for Sunderland or Middlesbrough. Would like to see them stay as well. Needed a cheap ticket to watch at least one premier level team play as I travel the countryside...(jokes)

Ha! Yeah, it'd be nice for Sunderpuke and Middlesborough to stay up and for Newcastle and maybe even Leeds to join them, but it's not going to happen. I think Huddersfield go up with BHA, and both Boro and Sunderpuke go down. They just look awful and adrift at this point.

Fulham pulled the upset today 3-1. Did not think that would happen but I am estatic right now. One step closer to a playoff spot. Only 2 points away as of today's result.

Brutal game today. Came out flat and stayed that way. I think they thought they have it all wrapped up, and took a day off. So glad I didn't get to watch and was only able to listen.

Have not seen the last 2 fixtures. They can't afford to let up. 1 Goal in the last 2 games? Do they miss yedlins attack on the right? He does service a lot of chances. He puts in a lot of good work.

Edit: Bruce Arena says yedlin is out until the end of April.

What a weird weekend at the top of the Championship. Yesterday Huddersfield gets crushes, leaving Newcastle and Brighton licking their chops, ready to take advantage and gain some ground. Then Newcastle get held in a hugely disappointing 0-0 draw. Then Brighton go down at Leeds. End result? Newcastle still top, 2 points clear, and effectively 8 points clear of Huddersfield for auto promotion (because of goal differential).

So, it could have been better for Newcastle, but it certainly could have been worse. With just 7 games remaining (Huddersfield do have an extra game), I'll take it.

Fulham moved into playoff position. It will come down to the last game of the year when they play Sheffield Wednesday who are battling them for the last playoff spot.

Huddersfield Town is a great story, Leeds and Fulham are two teams I'd like to see back up, I don't hate Reading, and Sheffield Wednesday is an old stalwart type of team. No matter what, it looks like it will be a fun playoff, and I won't mind who goes up. Just thinking about Newcastle's survival hopes next year, I'd like to see Huddersfield promoted, because they will hardly ever score in the Premiership, and so should finish near the bottom. Otherwise I'd like either Fulham or Leeds to go up.

I'd like to see Newcastle, Leeds, and either Fulham or Sheffield Wednesday.
