Haha it's as if they "sunderpuke" as someone once referred...no longer exist.

They might be existing in the third tier soon. Which is sad, because I miss the derby. I'd much rather have them up in the top flight with the Mags. Not that I'm not enjoying their anguish at the moment, mind you :)

We have awesome fans on this board. None of this at each others' throats nonsense. Well, unless you're a Sunderland fan, of course ;) LOL
Brighton's rivals are Palace, so it's been a good start to the year. And my jersey came, but I didn't realize just how tight soccer jerseys are and they don't work on fat guys, so it is proudly displayed in the office.

The draw pretty much sums up our season so far. Have chances to be up by 2 or 3 goals, don't convert when needed and the opposition does. The international break couldn't have come at a better time.

Yep. Now, Klopp's being an ass by pretending this wasn't/shouldn't have been a real match, but you got it. We helped out by having some sub-par performances (especially Kieran Clark and, of course, the useless Ayoze Perez), too.

It was a great pass by Shelvey but there was a bit of luck in the goal as well. Minolet had his angles covered pretty well and I don't think that Joselu scores otherwise. Newcastle scores on their breakaway and Salah couldn't score on his. Throw in the fact that he couldn't score on the sitter he got after the ball hit the post and that was that.

I pretty much agree with Klopp on this one. It shoudn't have been a match and yet it was. That's how the entire month has gone for Liverpool.

Edit: Shots on target: Newcastle 5, Liverpool 2 ;)

100 percent wrong on the breakaway, because, though there was luck in the goal, there was luck in catching up to make the tackle too. If Joselu realizes he is under imminent threat of pressure, he can take it early, and has a great scoring chance. Still a breakaway, and when you give up a breakaway, there's a good chance you get scored on. And given that Shelvey's pass was only available because of the inexcusably bad positioning of the defenders, that's Liverpool in crap defending. So, yeah, sorry Kloppy, but you're doing too much whinging. Klopp, not you, DCR. Although you might be a bit too hard-line in supporting your manager :)

Liverpool are watered down right now. Yes perhaps a bit unlucky but a draw was fair at st James. Klopp May be doing a lot of whining this season.

Brighton gave up a stupid penalty very late to draw Everton this morning, and Newcastle just gave up an even more stupid penalty to be tied with Southampton with around 10 minutes left

Yeah, it's a shame, because Lejune had a terrific game otherwise. He also had the winning header cleared off the line by a defender at the end. Should have been 3 points but, given the Mags' struggles there, I'll take the point.

I shouldn't have praised Yedlin so highly. He struggled then at T&T, and should have been sent off in this one.

Stupid tackle by yedlin. I saw it on BBC. He deserved to be sent off absolutely.

No doubt about it. Got away with one there. Then again, I'm used to the Mags getting utterly screwed by the refs, so I say they're still owed quite a ton. Still haven't gotten a penalty called in their favor this season yet.

No idea what the hell a player has to do to get sent off against Newcastle. I swear to Christ, they'd have to take off a leg before maybe, MAYBE, then seeing red. That's the second horrific scissor kick, from behind, with intent and intensity, that has resulted in a mere yellow. One of them injured a starter for most of the young season. Inex-effing-scusable. This time the ref took his time, had a long think...and pussied out like a little bitch. Awful, awful refereeing.

Also an awful, awful performance. Thankfully Palace are just a pathetic team and Hodgson didn't start a striker, or the Mags would have lost. After good subs, they finally turned on the intensity to snatch a huge point. Sitting good in the table, but between Newcastle's and the ref's struggles, it was a tough game to watch.

Well, the pundits FINALLY decided to stop hating Newcastle this week, so...

I hope they get relegated again.

...naturally they lost. Thanks, though, DCR. You gave me a great post-game laugh that I really needed :)

No killer instinct at all. Burnley didn't have it most of the game either. Just, come the latter part of the 2nd half, they started applying pressure, and it paid off. Looked like a goalless draw for 3/4 of the game. Can't say Burnley didn't earn it, though, and the Mags certainly didn't earn the draw.

Pretty much. Very boring. Neither team earned it.

Agreed. Merino was out with a minor (I hope) back injury. I'm thinking he needs to be involved in every single game, from the very start, at this point. Solid and super cheap signing. Newcastle's suffering from Jabba the Ashley's mismanagement and lack of backing Rafa. Just don't have enough offensive quality.

Or a real desire to be offensive.

Honestly for me Shelvey was the only one capable of creating offensively for long stretches. At times it was if he had nothing in front of him. That was a match they need to get at least a point. Too many poor decisions in the midfield. They have done ok so far but they could dip if this continues.
