but my Steve Kerr comment is still hilarious :)

Not really.

He is part of the Suns ownership group. But I am sure you knew that already.

He played in the league 15 years and won 5 championships, but I am sure you knew that already.

I suppose it would be funny if all he did was write fantasy basketball on Yahoo but in reality he was the top writer for basketball for yahoo in addition to his job as top basketball analyst for TNT.

I am sure people find you funny on your Miami Heat message board. You might want to consider trying your humor there.

suns got beaten handedly by the lakers without bynum, won a sloppy game against the celts, and got blown out by the pistons. There are ZERO reasons to think the suns can win it all.

It was an ugly loss to Detroit on national TV. I saw it but I don't think the Pistons are THAT good. no way. this is more Suns loss than a Piston win, so somethin is up

Can we at least give this team a couple of weeks to mesh before start running around with sky is falling stuff... sheesh... Inserting a center takes time with a team who has never had one.

out of any position on the floor it takes LESS time to work a center in. Its not like he is running the offense, handling the majority of the ball handling, or the scoring.

Just because im a Suns fan does not mean i have to make things up to talk myself into thinking this is a championship contender team.

Anyone know how Houston did back when they got Clyde the glide during a mid-season trade??

I seem to remember they got him during the mid-season and then won a championship that year. how lond did it take them to mesh, if at all?

Any other trades like this in the middle of the year that the teams turned around and won it all?

Answered my own question ……….

Portland honored Drexler's request to be traded to a contender and sent the Blazer great to the Houston Rockets mid-season, right before the trade deadline. Despite finishing the regular season with a record of 47-35, which placed the Rockets 6th out of 8 playoff teams in the Western Conference, Drexler and long-time friend Hakeem Olajuwon helped propel them to an improbable second consecutive championship in 1995.

Clyde played his first game on 2/16/95 and the rockets won that game and were 31-17
After the next 10 games they were 35- 22. They finished the season at 37- 45, putting them as the sixth seed of the playoffs then to go win the title.

I was still in Houston when this went down, and getting Drexler was quite a coup. Glyde was picked up to play 2-guard in place of Vernon Maxwell, whose exploits at the time included going up in the stands to punch out fans long before Artest, milling around the Summit with a crazy look in his eye while carrying an unlicensed handgun on multiple occasions, and willfully infecting locals with Herpes. To say that Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler was an upgrade over that would be the understatement of the century. ;)

As far as how long it took them to mesh, "immediately" is the answer to that. But that was more a function of the Rockets' offensive system than anything else. They would dump the ball into Hakeem and then pass out of the double-team to guys like Clyde. Anybody with a shooting touch can hit uncontested 3's, plays or no plays.

maybe we should sign steve to a veteran's minimum and have him stand in one spot and just drain threes! i'm sure he'd do better out there on the court instead of the FO.

I still support my opinions after today's game,it was such a disgrace.
Shaq is not a saver or hero for this team,we were better off with Marion,at least we were making to finals.Plus Shaq's getting 20m$??
This has to be a joke.

What finals did the Suns make it to with Marion? The Western Conference Finals? Is that the only goal?

And still, with the way the West has improved over the last couple years, the Suns didn't have much of a chance to go far in the playoffs with the roster they had pre-trade. Now I think they have a fighting chance.

Not giving up on the Shaq trade just yet. Too early to tell. Marion wouldn't have saved a lost against the Hornets anyways.

A part of me thinks Kerr pulled the trigger on Shaq/Marion so D'Antoni would inevitably flame out and the Suns could bring in a real coach.

Exactly, that's what I wrote as well,so playing with Marion we were NBA champions last year if we were not robbed by the nba commissioner.

We robbed ourselves by not staying on the bench and falling for Spurs tricks.....next.

If Amare and Diaw stayed on the bench we wouldnt have been "eliminated" by Stern.

Well, the crime did not fit the punishment.Plus referees always favor the Spurs.Believe me,I don't have too much hope but if Shaq starts playing good, they ll shut him up with early fouls.
Plus they clearly saw the knee kick of Bowen to Nash and didn't do anything right.

The punishment was standard for the crime.

i'll be honest....that last sentence makes no sense at all.

the punishment was standard for the crime, and the players knew that was the case. the refs don't favor the spurs. it only seems that way because they are established champions and get the benefit of the doubt over the suns.
