A small part of me is intrigued by the notion that CSM could be Mulder's dad. But I think the majority of me believes it's Bill Mulder's. It just makes sense for me. Bill had the uneviably task of choosing between his children. And in a way, I like to think that he chose Samantha because he knew that Fox had that inner passion which might someday uncover the whole thing.

But anyway, I do believe that CSM and Teena Mulder were involved at some point. I forget if the show actually implied that or if I just came to that conclusion. Either way, Teena Mulder sucks. And they way she died, with all those questions buried with her just make me hate her more! Bah!!

Heh, I just watched the series finale, and in his testimony, Jeffrey Spenders states that he and Mulder are half- brothers.

Excellent special features by the way (two disks)

I hate Spender - that rat bastard.

I still haven't purchased Season 9 yet... [yawn] ... someday I'll suck it up and do it. I want to see "the kiss" that was in the finale again.

I'm still holding out for a 2006 X-Files 2 movie darnit!

Why do X- philes hate Jeff and Dianna?????

I think they both redeemed themselves in "One son" and "Sixth Extinction," respectively.

This may have been discussed before, but is 32 some kind of X-Files special code number or something?

LoL - "Jeff and Diana" ??? Are you, like, FRIENDS with them? hahah

I hate Diana because she was un-true to Mulder and was only after her self interest. I do give her props for her actions in 6th Extinction though - but it was about time she did something for someone else for a change - and who knows - maybe she really didnt die... maybe CC and Co. will bring her back for the 2nd movie

As for Spender, I dislike him because he was assigned to the X-Files yet, did everything in his power to try and suck it up. He was just a whipping boy for his daddy.

Scully hated Diana. Mulder hated Spender. That's enough for meeee! :D

Stefan, why do you like them so much?

Of course, silly. Jeff and Diana are my ol' buddies, we have coffee every friday night, lol :D

On a serious note, I don't necessarily like them, but I simply don't hate them. I like "bad guys" like CSM, WMM, Fat Man (Elder #1) and Krycek (to a lesser degree, Miss Covarrubius. However, Jeff and Diana were not really "bad guys"

Sure, Jeffrey did try to screw Mulder and Scully over, but he was doing so because he thought he was protecting his mother, and when he realized what was going on, he turned against his father, and requested that Mulder and Scully be reinstated to the X- files, which got him shot and mutilated.

Diana, on the other hand, saved Mulder's life, and I don't think she was doing anything wrong before that moment. She did what everyone would (or should) do- work to stall the alien invasion. Sure, he (just like CSM, Alex, etc) had to do some things that are considered to be evil, but they did so in order to stall the invasion. Had it not been for the faceless alien rebels, they would have saved the world.

I don't know, I guess I look at the whole mythology/ conspiracy thing from the Syndicate's point of view- the only way to stall the invasion is to keep the public from knowing about it, and work on clones and the vaccine to fight the aliens. CSM's conversation with Mulder and "One Son" explains that very well. If I were in that position, I would do exactly what CSM, WMM, FM, Krycek, Bill Mulder, and co. did.

To me, it is hard to understand the hatred for the young Spender and Miss Fowley, especially when it's next to the love for CSM and/or Krycek...

You make some great points, Stefan, about Fowley and Spender not being that bad. On review of your post about Spender, I guess in the end he did end up turning against his father and sticking up for Mulder's/Scully's quest for the truth. I guess I just can't like the guy because Mulder never did, lol.

And as for Fowley, she could have been a good character but CC and Co. did a piss poor job of developing her. She obviously rubbed Scully the wrong way, and the scene in I think the 6th's season finale where Fowley is at Mulder's apartment and takes of her shirt - is just pure crap concocted by CC and 1013 to make us think that Mulder would ACTUALLY do anything sexual with Fowley. I guess THAT stuff is what makes me hate her. I get protective of Scully, lol.

But I do disagree on your viewpoint of the Syndicate and how their role was to only stall the invasion, keep it from the public, and work on a vaccine. They did all those things, yes, but for a very high cost. CMM had Bill Mulder murdered because Bill wanted to tell Mulder about the decision he made to give up Samantha for the safety of him and his family. CMM had the Well-Manicured Man killed because he knew that WMM would tell Mulder about the vaccine. And of course, he had *********** and X executed because they leaked some info to Mulder. Etc and etc. Lies, murders, blackmail, setups, etc - and for what? To save themselves.

They wanted to stall the invasion so they'd have more time to save themselves. Not the general public. I view the Syndicate as people who were ruthless and totally abused the powers they had. Obviously that's what made this show cool though, imo, the two opposing forces (good vs evil). CSM is one sunnovabitch, lol.

Stefan, or anyone else reading this, do you remember the episode where the Syndicate, sans CSM, got burned like crispy crittters? What was your initial reaction to that? I remembering feeling really upset. I remember thinking "oh no... NOW WHAT?" I think it was at that moment that I knew the X-Files would never be the same.

I'm sad.

There's only so many angles you can view X-Files. And there's only so many topics to discuss.

I feel like we've talked about everything we possibly could. Except by going episode by episode and discussing in depth.

Is anyone still interested in doing that? Maybe doing two episodes a week or something?

I really hope this 2nd movie goes down....

I've never seen it, so I don't really know. I'm not normally into science fiction, but I did like Quantum Leap, so I guess it's possible. I'll have to see if there are reruns on tv sometime and watch it.

Check out TNT around 8pm or so - many times they'll have a few reruns on.

This quote cracks me up and I think it's a perfect example of the M/S Relationship. :)

Mulder: Be honest, Scully. Doesn't that propane tank bears more than just a slight resemblance to a fat little white Nazi stormtrooper?
Scully: Mulder, the human mind naturally sees meaningful patterns and configurations in things that don't inherently have any. Given the suggestion of a particular image, you can't help but see that shape somewhere. If that tank weren't there, you'd see it in a rock, or in a tree.
Mulder: Did you answer my question?
Scully: Yes, it looks like a fat little white Nazi stormtrooper, but that only proves my point!

and if anyone can name the episode where this came from (without using google!!!!) you get 5 cool points.

Was that the one with Big Blue? I know it's an earlier episode rather than a later one I believe.

Nope, not "Quagmire" - close - you have the right season (season 3) though

I'll give you a hint: The Stupendeous Yappi

That's right--Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose--Peter Boyle actually mentions the white stormtrooper.

got this from another X-Files message board... and unfortunately the person posting this didn't have a link to the actual article.. but i still think it's a cool read. Although Mulder and Scully should TOTALLY be ahead of Buffy/Angel.. but I'm a homer so what do I know.

-------------------------------------

SEVEN MOST ROMANTIC TV COUPLES
By Jason Davis
They come into our living rooms for years on end. We wonder will they or won't they, and when they do, it's usually the end of the show. Here's a look at 7 TV couples that illustrated love on the small screen.

1. David Addison and Maddie Hayes from Moonlighting
Never have we wanted two people who so annoyed each other to get together. The sparks flew every week at the Blue Moon Detective Agency and the audience ate up every spiteful minute of it — until Dave and Maddie made it official ... then the show was over.

2. Buffy Summers and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Theirs was a forbidden love — a vampire and the slayer, but he had a soul and things looked okay until they consummated their love and a gypsy curse robbed him of his conscience. Relieved of his humanity, Angel went on a murderous rampage culminating with Buffy killing him. Of course, he came back the next season, but their love was too dangerous, so he got a spin-off.

3. John Steed and Emma Peel from The Avengers
"Surely not!" you say. Steed and Peel? Her husband had vanished and he was ... well, a confirmed bachelor, but when Mr. Peel showed up in Emma's swan-song episode — he was the very image of Mr. Steed. Repression, thy name is The Avengers. They were just too English to give in to what the audience already knew.

4. Dana Scully and Fox Mulder from The X-Files
Series creator Chris Carter made a mantra of never letting the two F.B.I. agents get together, but the interrupted kiss in 1998's feature film signaled the crumbling of Carter's anti-relationship wall. Three seasons later, Scully would be with child and there was little doubt who was responsible.

5. Ross Geller and Rachel Green from Friends
The best measure of a successful TV romance is how many people will shout at the TV when a final episode seems set to deny a happy ending. The massive sigh of relief issued the world over when Rachel appeared at Ross's door at the end of May's finale is a testament to one of TV's most enduring on again off again couples ... no more breaks!

6. Jamie and Paul Buchman from Mad About You
Eight seasons of mostly marital bliss is what the Buchmans offered audiences in the 90s. They were funny, they loved each other and the audience loved them for it. Unfortunately, they had a child, and the show was doomed.

7. Barnabas Collins and Josette du Pres from Dark Shadows
For a generation growing up in the late 60s, love was exemplified by a man who endured centuries as a vampire in pursuit of a seemingly endless series of reincarnations of his lost love Josette. Often killing, torturing or imprisoning people in basements, Barnabas was unfailing in his love for a woman who, let's be honest, seemed awfully prone to jumping off cliffs.

Their love spans seasons, and they become like old friends who visit once a week. They have their ups and downs, but they are our most pervasive icons of what love should be.

Well since you obviously keep checking this thread out, I'm going to assume you hold a secret obsession with the X-Files and probably sneak out in the middle of the night to go watch it in your closet.
