It's definitely a stepping stone that the franchise was even considered. The next step is not being a bridesmaid and and actually landing someone of LMA caliber or better. Either way it's still a hopeful sign for fans.

For now, you have to believe the team has a plan B in mind. Although, it appears we did miss out on some opportunities while playing the LMA sweepstakes. You would think whatever they do they have to move quickly if there is someone else out there they want.

did we really miss out on any opportunities? I'm trying to remember interesting players that have signed elsewhere. Like I said earlier, I think this might have actually saved us from some mistakes.

Watch Aldridge being the scapegoat as soon as the Spurs are not going to reach expectations which is not that unlikely.

I'm glad it's over. It's not the way I wanted it to turn out but now the Suns can turn their attention to the rest of the roster.

so close but no cigar. It was exciting though and it did give me more confidence in McDonough's ability to put us in the "thick of things". Maybe we gotta stop going after guys with "La" "Le" in front of their names...

Another year of letting the young guys grow, this time with some legit leadership. Splitting up the twins is still a win this season.

This was huge and cannot be underestimated. Also the addition of another center can strengthen the foundation. I was tired of the Suns getting shoved around upfront.

Maybe they can cut up that giant banner to make shade sails for the homeless.

We need a new thread called "Plan B" or something like that. Time to move on.

The twins have no one but themselves to blame for getting split up but I doubt they see it that way.

I truly think this was more about being close to his family than anything. I can't imagine how much it must have sucked to have to leave Texas for 9'years to live in the People's Republics of Chicago and Portland, yikes.

Time to bring Amare back and let the medical staff work their voodoo magic. He has been productive in limited minutes. I'd be happy to see him play 20 minutes or so behind Markieff. And he'll have Len and Chandler who can help him defensively.

Hopefully Markieff plays angry and continues to improve. Of course, he could also pout the entire season and destroy the team from this inside. I would not be shocked at all of McD already has 10 trades lined up as a backup plan. None of which anyone would leak or expect.

I agree. I think trading Markieff to the Mavericks would have been a mistake. If it's clear Markieff doesn't want to be here then trade him to the Eastern Conference or a team who does not give the Suns a bad deal. Trading Markieff and a pick (after the court matter is resolved) might get the Suns someone worthwhile.

Maybe we could try for Kanter still.. but he plays no defense. Though Chandler and Len might be able to cover for him.

I'd like to get rid off Markieff and Tucker and pick up Kanter and McDaniels in return. Continue the rebuild.

4th of July has not been a good day in recent years for Suns fans....first sign and trading Steve Nash to the Lakers and now LMA choosing the Spurs over the Suns....

The Suns were going to let Nash walk for nothing so that was a good trade with the Lakers. I can't argue the point about Aldridge.

The Lakers trade would have been better if the Suns kept their second first round pick.

If Amare also goes to the Spurs now I might have to banlist nba.com until we get a top 3 pick.

What are our options to get relevant again now? Free Agency is not an option, we lost out again to prove it, 2016 FA is weak besides Durant and we won't have too much caproom, plus in the next 2 years you are basically competing against everyone.

Even if we tried for Durant in 2016 we would once again be up against he Lakers, Rockets, Spurs, Mavs, Knicks, Thunder etc who will all have capspace.

Yea I'm just saying it was heartbreaking to watch Nash pick the Lakers, I know it didn't work out for them but it was still sad for me watching him pick LAL.

Looks like pop prefers David West...

Sources: Cleveland hasn't only worked itself into contention for David West, Cavs took slight lead on Spurs. Pop isn't done recruiting yet.

Isn't this where we start talking about how LMA is overrated anyways? :)

He's a soft jump-shooting big man, probably carrying a really bad injury too since he played for Portland....am I doing it right? :D

The NBA is just such a screwed up system from having to intentionally try to suck to get top tier talent in the draft to not making the playoffs while 30 win teams in the East do.

They should change the lottery to even odds for all teams asap.

I say rotate the first pick in the draft starting with the teams that have never had it.

I hope you mean even odds for all teams who miss the playoffs.
