Everyone has gotten some fringe benefit at some point in their life, celebrities obviously more than the rest of us.

To assume that celebrities ALWAYS get special treatment is just as naive.

Lol… okay.

LOL okay. You think Yankees players always get special treatment in Boston?
The way the board consistently dissolves into back-and-forth like this is awful. If you can't be convinced, why continue? Why do so many people here need to get the last word or something?

It's so bad -- and I'm often guilty of it. I'm trying to be disciplined about walking away when I offer evidence and get back "yeah but still." That means you're no longer engaged in a conversation where the other person is open to learning something.

It isn't about convincing. It is about making blanket statements of speculation, and selling it as facts.

its the social experience.

You can take two dogs that absolutely love each other. chain them in the back yard...just close enough that they can get nose to nose if they stretch...but they cant interact or butt sniff. Keep them that way for 5 or 6 months.
when you let one off the chain his first action will be to try and kill the other dog. For some reason they go absolutely livid with hatred when they can interact a little with another dog but cannot sniff his butt.

fellas on asfn need some butt sniffing. interacting up close and personal in real life.

Hm... Maybe time for an ASFN Cardinals happy hour for local folks?

Folks, he literally had surgery 22 days after injury...Not "several" weeks, or "months", or even a month. 22 days. Also, look at the freaking calendar. It was Xmas time and then New Years. Does an athlete, regardless of how good the doctor is, want to be operated on at Christmas or New Year? It also probably took a week, maybe 2 for the swelling to go down and he may have been able to walk on the knee (with or without aid) until surgery.
This. I thought, based on vaguely remembered discussions here on the board and contemporary news stories, that it was general knowledge that Murray had to wait a couple weeks until the swelling went down, then scheduled the surgery for immediately after the holidays. There was never a sense that he had excessively delayed surgery.

It's now been exactly two weeks since Murray tore his ACL on Monday Night Football against the New England Patriots. ....

Murray was first reportedly going to wait until after Christmas to have the surgery, allowing swelling to go down.

During the broadcast last night, NBC reported Murray would have the surgery on Jan. 3. ESPN's Josh Weinfuss was able to confirm.

I will double check with my wife but that has became standard practice.

They used to do the surgery ASAP after the injury but found better outcomes when immobilizing the knee and giving time for the swelling to go down.

Source: my wife is an athletic trainer and the practice manager of a sports medicine clinic.

Update: 3-6 weeks is standard.

Was just coming to post this.

For a complete tear of the ACL, reconstruction surgery is generally scheduled for between three and six weeks after the injury occurs. This allows inflammation in the area to subside. If surgery is performed too early, patients may develop a profound scarring response called arthrofibrosis.

Yup. Kyler got the surgery essentially as soon as medically possible. Everyone can chill.
that makes sense.

what doesn't make a lot of sense is why it's taking him so long to come back versus other QBs with similar styles or guys who depend totally on their athleticism.

also, still wondering what those "complications" are Wolf mentioned.

He probably looked at the Oline and conveniently decided to wait longer to come back

I mentioned in the offseason he did seem as far along as people thought. I'm not sure why he is behind, but I mentioned based on his squats it would be mid-season for a return.

omg cardnots, you're in the Tulsa metro? how does it feel being the 2nd biggest ARZ Cardinals fan in Oklahoma? :)
There is more than one fan? I guess it’s possible…

For the record, I’m the only Cardinals fan in the state that isn’t a fan of Kyler first:)

Dude, I’ve read your posts for a long time and didn’t know you were in OKC. I’ll be damned there are two. I lived in the valley of the sun for 30 years then soCal for 6. Thought it was time to come back home for my remaining retirement years. My next trip to OKC I’ll reach out to you for lunch and a beer:)

Why do we feel a need to speculate and debate kyler’s return?
Because he's the best player on the team and his return is the most likely path back to relevance?

It probably doesn't make much of a difference if he's back for week 6 or week 8, but the Arizona Cardinals offense is going to be nigh unwatchable for almost all of that time.

Done deal! You like Mexican? Teds has some great Mexican!

And I go way way back on the with Big Red man. All the way back to Jim Hart. But I admit K1 joining the team has done something really weird to my fandom. I never, ever, ever used to be like this. Just a tiny bit when Bradford was here for a minute, but nothing like this. Somehow I have become so emotionally invested in Murray that the line between Murray and Cardinals has become a little blurred. Super weird.

Still, you give me the choice between

1. Murray leaving + Cards winning the superbowl OR
2.Murray stays and Cards win the NFC but lose the superbowl.

I take #1 all day long. A billion percent my man. Cardinals forever!
