Love all this speculation stuff. The dark side of me though can't help but wonder what would happen if the Suns, who finally have the #1 pick, end up reaching and taking someone nobody thought they would take.

This board might go into full nuclear meltdown mode.

You mean like some Darko Milicic type player?

Might as well just have @Shaggy and @Chris_Sanders shut down the Suns forum for a few weeks.

This pic is 2 years old, I believe, since Howard left the Rockets 2 years ago, but here is Ayton standing next to Dwight Howard for a size comparison. He was bigger than Dwight when this was taken, it's not crazy to think he could have grown another inch or two since this was taken also. Dwight is listed at 6'11, some say he's 6'9 without shoes, but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Ayton is definitely a 7 footer though. There isn't any fudging his height to sell him as a Center.

I think Ayton's hands look larger than Howard as well.

Suns are supposed to have another press conference soon with Marvin Bagley. I thought Ayton was a lock so this doesn't make sense. I can understand him coming in and working out but another press conference of sorts?

All I have for the press conference is a link to the facebook feed, might be other ways to watch. Supposed to start soon.

I'm prepared to riot if the pick is anyone but Ayton.

Like, literally, there are few other #1s in the history of the NBA who were no-brainers. LeBron might be the last #1 that was a can't miss prospect.

McD said Bagley is a PF who may become a Center but now he's a PF and Ayton is a Center, that is how their workouts differed. Ayton was worked out as a Center while Bagley was worked out as a Power Forward.

Someone asked how Bagley would fit with Bender and Chriss and McD all but said directly they'd go to the bench while Bagley would start. He said that he could push them to bench roles because of where he's out in his development currently.

McD said they've brought in 2 prospects for the #1 pick so far and plan on bringing in a few more over the weekend. I know that's clear but I'm curious who else will come in. Probably Bamba, maybe Young and Porter.

McD also said that Bender and Chriss being with the Suns won't effect who they draft. They're good players but they're young and developing and the Suns need to add talent and depth.

McD was asked if he spoke with Coach K, Duke Coach, about Bagley, but he said he hadn't as of yet. He prefers to work out a player, watch tape, look at medical info, and essentially gather as much info as possible about a player before he reaches out to their previous coaches so he can speak with them while he has a complete picture of the player already and get any questions answered he may still have at that point.

Asked about Doncic, McD doesn't know if they'll be able to work him out in Europe. They may go over and see him again but they're not positive since they'd need to halt their workouts here while being over there but they do plan on speaking with him at least. Doesn't sound like Doncic is the plan at all. He said they might just Skype with him. They watch his games but they know he's busy.

Bagley said he has more workouts. Was asked if he'd stop like Ayton but he doesn't plan on it. This is his first workout for this draft.

Bagley says he feels disrespected in a way that he's not discussed as the #1 pick. He thinks he deserves mention at #1 and that it's not just Ayton is the surefire #1 pick. Not disrespected by teams but media.

What is so refreshing, the possible #1 and #2 picks have Arizona ties and want to be drafted by the Suns.

Bagley says he doesn't see himself as a PF or C. He says he's position-less and doesn't like boxing himself into 1 position. He'll do what's needed and go out and play basketball.

Asked what Suns player he would remind fans of. He said that's tough to answer but he'd say Amare and the athleticism of Jason Richardson, being able to sail in for dunks.

Thought that was an odd answer but I like it. Shows he followed the Suns if he remembers J-Rich's time here.

Asked if he'd hold a lifelong chip on his shoulder towards the Suns if he's not picked #1. After some laughs he said yes, he wants to go #1 and he's competitive and should go #1.

I think that was more saying what he should have rather than believing it. He was laughing while answering and didn't say it like most other players who say they have a chip do.

That was a decent press conference, nothing new really to be learned but I really liked Bagley's answers and how he handled himself. If he had that before Ayton it would probably have been easier for him. He's in an odd spot though. He has ties to the valley also and you could tell he liked the franchise and believes he should be considered but I didn't get the idea from how he spoke that he truly believed he'd be in the conversation for this #1 pick. Like he worked out, it was good, but not great, and he doesn't expect the Suns to take him.

If he was a little more sure of himself I would have liked him more but it is what it is. I'd be happy with him if something comes out that Ayton has glass knees or ankles but I don't see Bagley having a realistic shot at #1. I don't think anyone other than Ayton will go #1 though so it's not just Bagley is out of the running but everyone not named Ayton is.
