my spoilers are only on the show so click away if you have watched it.

The thing about the comics, even if you got so many that you caught up, you would just stop at negan for now. I have the first compendium which is a lot of the comics in one big book and it stops around the governor.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Walking-Dead-Compendium-1/10837812

although if I could go back, I would rather have those 48 issues separate than the big book.

he is not a major player that was stressful to see captured like Daryl however I do like him and think he adds value to the group.

I wonder if he will make bullets that explode when used or something.

I think he is a mixture of brains over brawn and the example that a wimp can survive if surrounded by enough muscle. Gotta love the mullet.

Yeah, I get it. Hes kind of like Upham from Saving Private Ryan. Im sure in the end Eugene will do some brave and redeeming, except for the fact I never felt Upham redeemed himself. Guys are still dead because of his actions.

I used to love Eugene but like many characters on the show has crossed over to annoying territory for me.

Yeah, seems like most of the characters we've known for a long time have been on a downward spiral for quite some time. Only characters that appear to be getting better IMO have been Maggie, maybe Carl and Father Gabriel. Guys like Daryl have always been cool, even if they don't have much to do. I also don't mind Aaron and Jesus at this point, but they have been pretty neutral as to quality since they appeared. Everyone else seems to be regressing.

I'm not a Maggie fan. To me, she's really annoying and on the downward spiral.

Carol, on the other hand is getting more interesting, trying to figure out what makes her tick.

I am just the opposite. I am just vested in Maggie because she has been through utter hell. IMO, she has suffered more loss than anybody on the show. Now she is approaching the point where she simply can't take it anymore and taking the "I won't take anymore" place. I love it.

Carol on the other hand I am done with. She used to be a bad ass. She used to be interesting. Now week after week it's just, leave me alone. I am done with the world...leave me alone. We get it.

I'm pretty much at the same place. So disappointed in where Carol has gone. I'm thinking the character must be pretty boring for Melissa McBride now. Seems like the days of her threatening kids are long gone. ;)

Im perma-team Carol after she went all " look-at-the-flowers" on that psycho girl. For the 1st time in the history of TV did somebody finally do the right thing with an evil little kid.

She can do nothing to lose me.

She might be in a lull right now, but I guarantee she'll be back going scorched earth on some fools like usual soon enough. *And there just so happens to be a war on the way involving her friends.....so lookout.

That's the hope. Remember, she and Morgan don't even know about Glenn and Abraham yet.

She had better because until then, I cringe every single time I see her scenes on camera. They are so predictable and boring now. I can leave the room and miss nothing.

I like Jesus a lot, he is a quality character IMO. Father Gabriel did an amazing shift as I really hated him for a while.

Lol i couldnt be more opposite. Carol went from a useless character to one of the best on the entire show and is now completely useless again. I hope she snaps back into it soon as when she is a bad ass, I LOVE her. Her part in the episode where alexandria got raided and she put wolf garb on was one of the most badass performances in the history of the show.

Maggie I still like. Its a shame she has to be pregnant as it will stunt her ability to do things. I hate it when people on the show find emotional attachment because suddenly they are weak, it makes sense, I just worry they are next to die by doing something stupid because their weakness was threatened. I feel the same about rick and michonnes relationship.

lol I forgot about her talking to that little boy, so awesome. I love Carol.

I cant wait for her to come back, it is a disservice to the story until she does.

oh man the next half of this season is going to be crazy once she snaps and Morgan furthers back to someone willing to defend his people at all costs. You notice he is carrying a firearm on his hip now?

I keep waiting for her to change back every time.

I think they had to find a way for Carol to be away from the main crew while the Negan arc occurred. If not, the badass Carol would've gone right for Negan and nobody would have been able to stop her. No amount of Rick trying to convince her otherwise would fly or be believable either.

I'm guessing her little "time-out" will come to an end once she hears what happened and will probably end up sacrificing herself to save the group once all out war has started.

Or not. o_O

I totally get it with Carol.

She was in a bad place. She never really even got to mourn Lizzie and the other one. That's why they showed her writing down her death toll, people she had killed.

I think once they got to Alexandria and things settled down for a bit, everyone could take a breath and she got into her mini relationship with the tall guy, everything just finally caught up with her.

The person she used to be started to pop back up but then she realized all the terrible things she had been forced to do and she just couldn't deal anymore. She said the reason she wanted to leave is she didn't want to have to kill anymore.

I thought the scene where Morgan saved her and she desperately screams; Just let me go! Was very powerful.

Old Carol will be back, she's just got to find her peace. I think it would have been dumb to just have her continue being a killing machine the whole series. There is still humanity in her.

Some critics are a bit odd to me. They claim to want the show to have depth, then when they try to they are like WTF MOAR ZOMBIEZ!!!!

Some valid points but do they have to beat the "leave me alone" thing to death? The moping to death? I would have preferred she just disappeared off screen for a while like they have done with other characters.

There is depth and then there is :deadhorse2:.

There are two things we don't need more of on the show. Endless walking scenes in the forest and Carol finding another way to say "leave me alone".

--The Carol storyline is a bit wasted for me. Leave me alone, but btw I'll be right here. They tried to dress it up with Ezekiel's go-but-not-go line, but really she's just biding time. It's not horrible but could have been a more interesting side trip.

--The guy with the boots: I'm sure we're supposed to guess it's the houseboat owner. Rick and Aaron didn't find his body (unless he was one of the zombies). One of the recaps (Vulture I think) was speculating he'd be friend not foe. In either case, is he being kept hidden just to be mysterious? Or is there a chance he's someone we've seen before, a la Morgan approaching Terminus?

--Side question: are we to take from the Saviors' corralling of the gang at the end of S6 that running is not an option? It's weird that there are "so many of them" and yet the Saviors hadn't discovered Alexandria before. I suppose they want to stay out in a community for Maggie, though.

Running is an option. The Amazon women did it. They got away with it too. I think the group is all just stuck in a place of still being completely shocked by what happened, terrified of it happening to someone else, but also being totally pissed and not wanting to take it.

I think leaving was never an option for them. They were always going to fight even Rick knew it.

People tend to have forgotten that Rick was just broken beyond anything we've seen so far. Maggie watched Glenn be bludgeoned to death, Carl got his eye shot out, Rick was completely emasculated by Negan.

Not just Rick, the whole group. They really thought they finally had it all figured out last year. When they overcame the wolves and the wall, they were determined to not take anymore crap from the world. That's why they changed the sign outside Alexandria. They were all just in full badass mode where they thought they were the biggest baddest group left in the area. Then it got proved in the most horrific way possible that it just wasn't the case after all... So all these people are left feeling just totally defeated for a while and even thinking they deserve it after what they did at the satellite station. Either way, it's a good plot right now for my taste.

I get why it's taken everyone a few moments to get their wits back, but you could already see it. Ricks got his Brusband Daryl back, Tara, Sasha, Maggie and Rosita have been ready to roll.

When Carol finds out what they did to Glenn and Daryl, she's going to be back, don't worry.

I really cant wait to see how this plays out.

They will obviously have to work together but with little to no weapons and being out numbered, it's going to take some clever stuff to defeat these guys. I hope they make it cool cuz the possibilities are endless right now. I love where the show is. I lost interest when things dragged on and on in the Forest and in the Prison, this is like, vintage TWD, anything can happen any episode!

As for Eugene, maybe this will be the stretch where Eugene finally becomes endearing. Because he is really, really good at sounding like he knows what he's talking about. That's his skill that has allowed him to survive. So who knows how long he can string Negan along with these bullets. Maybe Eugene will come up with a way to smuggle bullets out to the group. IDK, just thinking.
