--The Carol storyline is a bit wasted for me. Leave me alone, but btw I'll be right here. They tried to dress it up with Ezekiel's go-but-not-go line, but really she's just biding time. It's not horrible but could have been a more interesting side trip.
--The guy with the boots: I'm sure we're supposed to guess it's the houseboat owner. Rick and Aaron didn't find his body (unless he was one of the zombies). One of the recaps (Vulture I think) was speculating he'd be friend not foe. In either case, is he being kept hidden just to be mysterious? Or is there a chance he's someone we've seen before, a la Morgan approaching Terminus?
--Side question: are we to take from the Saviors' corralling of the gang at the end of S6 that running is not an option? It's weird that there are "so many of them" and yet the Saviors hadn't discovered Alexandria before. I suppose they want to stay out in a community for Maggie, though.
Running is an option. The Amazon women did it. They got away with it too. I think the group is all just stuck in a place of still being completely shocked by what happened, terrified of it happening to someone else, but also being totally pissed and not wanting to take it.
I think leaving was never an option for them. They were always going to fight even Rick knew it.
People tend to have forgotten that Rick was just broken beyond anything we've seen so far. Maggie watched Glenn be bludgeoned to death, Carl got his eye shot out, Rick was completely emasculated by Negan.
Not just Rick, the whole group. They really thought they finally had it all figured out last year. When they overcame the wolves and the wall, they were determined to not take anymore crap from the world. That's why they changed the sign outside Alexandria. They were all just in full badass mode where they thought they were the biggest baddest group left in the area. Then it got proved in the most horrific way possible that it just wasn't the case after all... So all these people are left feeling just totally defeated for a while and even thinking they deserve it after what they did at the satellite station. Either way, it's a good plot right now for my taste.
I get why it's taken everyone a few moments to get their wits back, but you could already see it. Ricks got his Brusband Daryl back, Tara, Sasha, Maggie and Rosita have been ready to roll.
When Carol finds out what they did to Glenn and Daryl, she's going to be back, don't worry.
I really cant wait to see how this plays out.
They will obviously have to work together but with little to no weapons and being out numbered, it's going to take some clever stuff to defeat these guys. I hope they make it cool cuz the possibilities are endless right now. I love where the show is. I lost interest when things dragged on and on in the Forest and in the Prison, this is like, vintage TWD, anything can happen any episode!
As for Eugene, maybe this will be the stretch where Eugene finally becomes endearing. Because he is really, really good at sounding like he knows what he's talking about. That's his skill that has allowed him to survive. So who knows how long he can string Negan along with these bullets. Maybe Eugene will come up with a way to smuggle bullets out to the group. IDK, just thinking.
