Haven't you guys learned anything? This is Glenn we're talking about. He survived eight walkers falling on him in the woods. He survived getting his intestines eaten under a dumpster. What's a head-bashing to him? He'll be back in the next episode.

I'll keep an eye out for that.

I watched the first 3 seasons, then stopped. Show has become insanely formulaic.

- Group meets new people
- New people dont seem so bad
- sike, they are bad
- fight, escape
- find new safe place
- Group meets new people
- New people dont seem so bad
- sike, they are bad
- fight, escape
- find new safe place

repeat

Its a show about zombies where the zombies are no longer remotely involved in the storyline. Its like when the zombies come out, thats your bathroom break time.

And regarding who died, didnt affect me one bit. Not one iota. The showrunners are cowardly. We all know who shoudlve died.

It's been 7 seasons, zombies are only good for so much. If all you wanted was zombie fighting, the show wouldn't have lasted more than 2 seasons.

Better off watching something atrocious and devoid of story telling like Z Nation or something. This is more of a story about a group of survivors that happens to be during a zombie apocalypse.

Of course, if you stopped watching after season 3, why would season 7 impact you in any way? The people are died were the right people based on history and formula.

I'll never really understand coming in and complaining about shows you dont like. TV is FLOODED with shows I have no interest in and I simply dont watch it or talk about it because I dont care about it.

You should try it out

Just the fact that you call it a show about zombies tells me enough as that is not what the show is about.

This time, the new people did seem so bad. So bad that Rick's group went on the offensive.

But your point is fair. At this point, to really change the show, character entrances and exits aren't enough: the "world" would need to change. Things that have been discussed before: a zombie cure, or the real promise of one. A mechanized means of zombie eradication. A settlement of thousands of people, not just dozens at the most, with a means of preventing outbreaks and protected by more than sheet metal walls. Learning that part of America/the world didn't fall.

Post-zombie reconstruction and reconciliation would be a fascinating show, for instance. But I think the real-world limits of the show (shooting in Georgia, budgetary constraints), probably mean something like that won't happen. At least not on television.

Im cheering for Negan over anyone not named Daryl.

Least we forget what the group did to his "guys" at the end of last season. THAT was pretty brutal.

There's this thing called a Ninja Coffee Bar Brewer show that comes on late at night. Oh man that show chaps my hide like you wouldn't believe. It's the same plot line every freakin' night. I never miss an episode.

Really? You're not ticked off about what happened with Glenn? That whole thing that happened with him and the dumpster was so bad, and then the producers actually promised they would reveal who died in the finale, which they did not.

I don't mind cliffhangers, but there's a difference between a cliffhanger and being a jerk to the audience.

Totally agree. TWD likes to screw with the audience and blackmail them into coming back. That is totally different from a cliff hanger.

A good cliff hanger is GOT and Jon Snow motionless on the ground surrounded in his own blood. Everyone knows he is dead from the characters on the show to the audience watching at home. They don't play games with camera angles that tease different possibilities from what a character in the show would know if they were standing right there.

The Glenn dumpster thing was horrendous! A complete screw you to the audience. The Negan one wasn't as bad but still it was total crap. Then you mess with audience with a bunch of teasers. Not a fan of that crap at all. ************ back because the show is great not because you are messing with me.

Subtle touching moment in premiere:

I'm seeing some chatter on the 'webs that Abraham flashed Sasha a peace sign just before he met Lucille. Apparently, this was their little thing in some previous episodes when they were getting to know each other. Pretty cool even if I totally missed it.

It reminds me of Lost. It doesnt have direction anymore. Its just going and going without a destination.

You know whats funny, theres a Walking Dead video game. Made by TellTale Games. Its story is about 100x better than the show. Incredibly gripping and genuinely dramatic. Outstanding writing.

TWD TV show needs to start basing itself off the game, because that game is amazing.

There is a direction but you said you haven't watched since season 3 so it makes sense if you wouldnt understand the direction of the show.

I liked the telltale games game but it is a bit like fear the walking dead where I didn't really care about any characters so I had a hard time getting sucked in to it.

The story telling was fantastic, I just didn't care about the people.

Geez....

Thought about it this morning, since they took Daryl, all Rick has is Carl and the women of the group. What a mess. They are going to have to play along for quite a while before they get a chance to improve their situation.

I guess we will find out what the kingdom is all about and maybe Jesus comes back into the group.

Almost everyone has dies at this point since the beginning. Rick needs Carol and Morgan back. Somehow all of that is going to tie together.

I'm still a bit shocked. That was absolutely brutal.
That was precicely what Negan was trying to accomplish. He took way the physically strongest(Abraham), the tactically strongest(Darryl), and one of the most cunning(Glenn). Throw in the fact that Maggie is less than 100% and he knows he has the drop on Rick. This is why I hope this arc follows the comic 100%. It's such a compelling and exciting story arc as is.
That said, anyone watch Talking Dead? Lauren Cohan, wowsers.

Hey - maybe Rick's visions of the whole group at the Sunday dinner table will be the start of a flash-sideways season! They'll all meet each other in different circumstances, like, instead of being chased by walkers, they're being chased by biters.

I havent been watching every episode but ive kept track from time to time. And every time I check in they are at some stage of the "New place/New People/Escape" cycle

Point being I could start watching every new episode from now forward...and Id be completely fine. Meaning everything thats happened prior to right now is insignificant. Thats how you know its a lost show. Where events dont have long term consequences, other than killing characters which ultimately amounts to "hey, wheres so-and-so?". T-Dog is dead. Does it matter? Not one bit.

And your basis for the game characters is slightly tweaked. You have to remember that all the characters in that game are expendable. You arent suppose to get attached because they are all going to die.

However, the 3 main characters: Lee, Clementine and Kenny. They have no equals. TWD could kill Rick and Carl and the baby and whoever else, and none of them match Lee, Clem or Kenny.

you could start it now moving forward but it wouldnt be the same. A big part of the show is character development and by missing that, you are less invested in the life and death of the characters so it wouldnt be the same.

Killing rick would likely end the show, to say it wouldnt match the lead character in the game (who died) doesn't make much sense.

Exactly my point. Thats how you can tell whether or not a show has genuine character development or not.

- Because Rick dies? Shows over. Nobody else matters enough to carry the show.

- Lee dies? Clementine can carry it. Her Character dev to that point has been very strong.

- Game of Thrones - Ned dies, show has at least 4 more people who by themselves can carry it forward. GOT is the exception of extreme character dev. but the point stands.

So tell me again how TWD has strong character development and long term storylines if 1 guy can end the show?

Clementine is the Rick of the game, not Lee.

I'm good dude, I have no interest in discussing a show I watch with someone who doesn't watch it. there is no point. No, you couldn't watch from here and get the same feels everyone else does, it wouldnt work and when people die, you wouldnt care because you don't have any attachment and you did not experience the character growth.

Thats hilarious.

TWD Game has completely incepted you, and you dont even realize it. The flawless transition from Lee to Clem was so perfectly done that you think Clem was the "Rick" of the group.

Lee was Lee. I wont even say he was "Rick", because Lee is better than Rick.
But the genuine character development was so strong that Clementine became the new Lee. And thats how it should be.
