Paul coro just reported that the ref Ken Maur told Dowdell to "stop being a lil bi*ch." It obviously pissed off Z and he retaliated by sayin "would you say that to me off the court" then Maur couldnt think of a comeback so he just kicked him out.

I am proud of Dowdell for standin up for himself.

AB got tossed because he was tryin to protect Z & also said somethin to Maur.

I wonder if AB got tossed because he was tryin to protect Z or for somethin else.

Considering how quickly he was tossed he likely was standing up for Dowdell.

If that report's really true, wow just wow

If Dowdell gets fined something needs to be done about this abuse from the officials.

You have take into account that he isn't recovered. He unconsiously or on purpose avoids dunks. I think the ball might hit his nose during a dunk. That fact causes blocked layups, which should be dunked.. Poor it was actually poor perrformance, I agree.

That aint cool. I think that ref's "comment" wasn't even all about ZD, everybody was giving the refs grief last night (and they deserved it). Both teams were complaining about the calls all night.

The ref that tripped Studley (it was a accident) gave the ball to the Suns simply because he felt bad about it, the younger ref reminded him the ball should go to the Thunder because the Suns still had touched the ball last. EJ mentioned it during the broadcast...about the refs being a part of the field or however he said it.

Brooks, the game was pretty much over, and he stuck up for the guy who he is sorta battling for playing time. It didn't seem to hotheaded to me, he was laughing and waving to the crowd with a playful and shocked expression on his face.

Gortat's interview after the game was priceless, said he couldn't talk about it, then we started to let just a little bit slip, someone in the lockeroom yelled at him. :D

So do we know what Brooks did to get tossed right after? I have not heard.

This is probably no surprise to anyone, but proof that ESPN is in the NBA's pocket: No trace of the Dowdell story on ESPN.com?

ESPN not running a story about a complete unknown scrub from on a non-playoff team getting kicked out of a game at the end of a blowout doesn't really seem like all that much proof of anything to me.

the anchors at ESPN probably don't even know who Dowdell is. I barely do and i'm a diehard Suns fan.

So far I've read the story from the front page of msnbc.com and the NBA front page at cbssports.com

Would you feel better if I called it the Kenny Mauer story? If someone doesn't know who Mauer is, they don't really pay attention to the NBA.

This is most likely my last year of watching the NBA. It was a fun ride but honestly I find it boring like an episode of LOST where you know what's going to happen before it does.

I'll still post and check box scores but the die hard in me will be gone.

I had seen it on Fox Sports right after I posted and now it's gone. It's also off the msnbc.com front page, but they still have a link in the sports page to the story.

There was a Tweet on the ESPN page earlier that alluded to the story, but has since been removed. All the other Tweets are still there.

Looks like the NBA is making their sweep of all news outlets, so yeah I guess it's not just ESPN.

You're fooling yourself if you don't realize that protecting the legitimacy of officiating is one of Stern's top concerns.

it's rumor and innuendo... stemming from an incident with complete and utter scrubs. it's a non story to anyone outside of phoenix.

and what does Stern have power over yahoo... fox... cnnsi... pretty much the entire reporting world? Look, i know stern wants to protect the legitimacy of his officials... doesn't mean he's a warlord with the power to scrub any story he wants. if there's a story there, it'll come out. if not, it won't.

and honestly is it THAT big of a deal for a ref to tell a player to stop acting like a little bitch?

did you guys ever used to watch Dazzling Dunks and Basketball Bloopers videos from back in the 80's. The refs have been telling the players to stop crying and acting like babies forever. "Oh quit crying you big baby!" is one of my favorite lines from the ref/player interaction section back in the day.

much ado about nothing... which is why it's probably not that big of a story.

One call from the NBA legal department to the Associated Press is really all it takes.

I had some fun googling about this. One of my searches was to try and find a poll that the NBA refs participated in (didn't know if one existed) about which teams they felt complained the most.. I found nada.

I also googled NBA Referee Fanclub...zilch.:D I thought there might be a sarcastic site for fans to thank the refs for blowing big calls, but in their team's favor.

Last night's drama wasn't in a big game, so the news isn't really big either IMO, unless your a Suns fan most would probably just meh.

I did find a article in the Times about the NBA's effort to crack down on the Players complaining. I think the Refs were wrong last night, but they can fall back on this "less tolerance stance."

Well, I guess that's how they get away with it then. There shouldn't be any wonder as to why the officiating goes unchecked and unpunished when every "nothing" story like this just goes away. You've got professionals absolutely flummoxed by the event, something they've never seen in years of experience....meh, not a story.

i read it and thought... who cares? The players are freaking babies.

now, Duncan getting objected from the bench for laughing... THAT was a big story and was treated as such. this? a player and ref jawing at each other and one of them is a complete scrub? seriously... who gives a crap?

Actually the Duncan story is weaker. Duncan provoked an official and the official responded by throwing Duncan out. Dowdell provoked an official and the official responded with unprofessional, verbal abuse. Big difference.

Players are freaking babies, no doubt. But that doesn't make it right.

Sorry, but the old, dormant journalist instinct in me hates this kind of crap.

Its a big deal because he kicked the player out after he called him a bitch.

Its like me sleeping with someone's wife then killing the husband when he comes home.

I'm not sure what the prize is but you have definitely won The Worst Analagy of the Year award. Your name has been entered in the all Century contest, congrats.

Lol yea and the best part was when he said "Yea we didn't have any energy and since we were losing by a lot it gave some of the rookies playing time but they just couldn't quite finish the game"

Even he was crackin up when he said it.

Also yes its on CBS
