It is so funny how much of a maverick Haley is through and through. Check out the coaching page of the Steelers. He is the only one who really stands out. Guess his black and gold shirt was at the cleaners.

It's probably because like himself he only washes his clothes every couple months.

Todd Haley is insane. I'm not sure I'd let him watch my dog unless someone was keeping an eye on him.

Some real hate for this guy on here and people tell me to let it go about Whiz?

:biglaugh:

I would welcome some interesting reading material as to why this guy does not deserve a second chance as head coach. Not speculation.

I am not even remotely suggesting that he be the next coach, I am just wondering what all the anger is about.

in his last four years, he had one decent season season surrounded by utter failure in years 1 and 3 in KC and then went and was an utter failure with the Steelers. I guess my question back to you is: why does he deserve a second chance at head coach?

Let's not forget his falling out with the Chiefs where he accused the KC front office of tapping his cellphone on the way out. I'm sure that type of person will go over real well with the staunch old school Bidwill family.

2011 under Bruce Arians: 21st in points, 12th in yards
2012 under Todd Haley: 22nd in points, 21st in yards.

And the Steelers started Charlie Batch for 2 games, Byron Leftwich for a couple, had a revolving door of running backs playing on two or fewer limbs, and had their best WR hold out of training camp. And without their #1 pick on the offensive line for nearly the entire season.

This isn't to say that Haley wouldn't be a disastrous choice for a head coach, but to say that Haley was an utter failure with Pittsburgh is a little disngenuous.

Ben Rothlisberger had his highest completion % since 2009, highest TD % since 2007, 2nd lowest INT % of his career.

you bet, Bidwill is so old fashioned that he does not believe in phones. Rod Graves used Western Union on all his tranmissions

Also note that in Haley's one "good" year in KC he beat exactly one team with a winning record - the powerhouse 9-7 San Diego Chargers at home.

This article sums up my thoughts on Haley pretty well:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...-legit-but-coach-todd-haley-is-a-fraud-010311

Unfortunately, he’s a fatally flawed head football coach. He’s insecure, mean-spirited, emotional and irrational. For two years, he has tried to master a Bill Parcells impersonation. Thanks to the Chiefs’ surprising rise from four wins to AFC West champion, some people have been fooled into believing Haley’s impersonation is working. I haven’t.

How do we all feel about Haley as an OC?

If we hired a different HC (logically Horton) and promoted Haley to Assistant HC, would that be enough to pry him out of Pittsburgh?

Same question/expanded angle. I believe Mike Tice (whom I assume was whacked along with Lovie and is available) is similar in approach to Haley's coaching style and philosophy. Who would you rather have as OC: Tice or Haley?

Finally (& I'm hoping it's so)'is it possible that the Haley interview is more of a mind- pick by Michael to get a more honest assessment of what was really going on under Wiz when Haley was here?

If for some reason we lose Horton because we want to putz around with this uberdouche, and do something stupid and hire him, I might be doing something drastic next year.

He is a massive dick and bridge-burner. NOT the kind of guy I want as a HC. OC, sure. HC, never.

Just the fact that he could be interviewed is severely telling that Mikey has some flaws.

Yeah-----that's it I'm sure. Mikey just wants to display his flaws for all the world to see. I mean it's not like Haley, (who just happens to be part of something really good that happened here), might have some insight on what is missing from this offense, (other than Warner).

Maybe Michael just wants to pick his brain to determine whether or not Haley sees the same things that are missing from, or wrong about our current offensive situation from when Haley was part of it being good. Good reporters are known to do that you know-----get a confirmation from a second source who has knowledge about the situation, before finalizing their story. Why not see what Haley might contribute should he come here, or at least determine what he feels about things as they are today, (post Whiz).

If this is the case then you dont let Horton leave to be interviewed elsewhere and fool around with trash like Haley. JMO.

Another team could wow Horton after he WOWs them and offer him much more etc..... Pretty silly move IMO.

Yeah, thats like trying to gain leverage at the Porsche dealership, by pointing out how much cheaper you can get a Kia down the street. :D

Not a fan of Haley.

Me neither. What has he proven as a HC? Nothing. He's known to be a hot head and, if productive and somewhat controlled, I can handle that. I don't think Haley is either of those things.

If we lose Horton and hire Haley, I will be beyond uber pissed off.

Developing QBs and wins will satisfy the fanbase. Haley is from the Parcells tree, intense and innovative. Have we run any cool trick plays since Haley left? Remember the NFC Championship game QB to HB, throw back to QB who those deep to Fitzgerald for a wild TD. I miss those types of calls. I might be the minority in saying this but Todd Haley would be a very good hire - ESPECIALLY- if Cardinals retain Horton as DC.

Go Cardinals!

I agree with this and pray that is what the thought process is.

Michael said it during his presser that conducting several interviews allows him and the FO to gather intel.

I wish they had a chance to interview Reid for this very purpose. I didn't want Reid as the HC/GM but he is a very smart man.
