Yep! It’s going to be hard to replicate what seemed to be a fabulous working relationship between all 3 in making “Cardinals decisions”.If you believe what folks close to the Cards say - a coach's resume will get him to the interview, but it's the chemistry reflected in the interview that will get him the job
Maybe the patriots water boy knows a thing or 2 about offense, we should interview for OC. Leave no stone unturnedAdd another one to the list

Kill two birds with one stone. Interview Patricia for HC and then satifsy the Rooney rule at the same time in one location.Maybe the patriots water boy knows a thing or 2 about offense, we should interview for OC. Leave no stone unturned
that was my initial thought as wellKill two birds with one stone. Interview Patricia for HC and then satifsy the Rooney rule at the same time in one location.
Or hire Patricia and bring Flores along as DC.Kill two birds with one stone. Interview Patricia for HC and then satifsy the Rooney rule at the same time in one location.

Iwold like to keep Bettcher. I think he has a good future.I thought about that too, even though I have ran out of rocks to throw at him in the second halves for adjustments but the guy is young and will get better with experience. Ironically, Bettcher actually might be more ready now than anytime in the past and his best years are ahead of him because he has the knowledge now while on the job
The immediacy factor - Card defense had really good last 2 games. Two ways to interpret it: (1) We saw the real defense in those last 2 games. (2) those last 2 games were merely outliers.Keim is playing the search really close to his vest. There is no publicly known front runner at this point. It really to me comes down to who are hired as coordinators because they are going to be running the offense and defense.
This search has proven how fickle we are as fans. Early in the season there were many on the board including me calling for Bettcher’s head and now there are some on the Bettcher for HC train.
Wouldn't mind an offensive HC like Shurmur or DeFilippo who gives Bettcher the chance to continue building our defense. No loyalty, so Bettcher has to deliver. I really love such type of business relationships rather than the old buddy approach. Our offense will look totally different next season, no matter what. None of the HC candidates are in the mold of BA. But our defense has several young rising players who would only benefit if we keep our scheme in place. A new offensive-minded HC for sure would like a defense he can rely on while installing a new offense. Bettcher has shown down the stretch that our defensive unit is still top notch, even with abysmal offense and special teams.
And yet still one of the best in the league. So many flaws in the defense still. Lack of contain, poor zones and weak on the perimeter versus screens.
And yet still one of the best in the league.

Hearing based on who the Cardinals the decide to hire at some point... It could be an option of keeping some of the previous staff under Arians.
Sounds like ASU all over again...Mike Jurecki

That's correct. Our defense has been built on aggressive blitzing and man coverage. We can't play zone effectively, yet we had to play more zone because our blitzing got too predictable. Being aggressive with blitzing has burned us multiple times. Opponents know this and counter us with screens and have great protection schemes to pick up the blitzes. Lack of contain idk. It's tough to totally wipe out these mobile QBs. We did a great job on Mariota and Russell Wilson. Sometimes you just can't contain them. Our run contain is also very good for the most part. We are far from an elite unit, but lots of young pieces in place that will keep improving. So many flaws in the defense still. Lack of contain, poor zones and weak on the perimeter versus screens.

I'm not even a huge fan of Bettcher. But another year would serve our current unit well, along a FA or rookie that could strengthen our defense further. Idk if Bettcher is a huge ego guy, but I don't think so. The players like him. A new offensive-minded HC would love to have a solid defense in place, especially with a young core. No more old buddy coordinators, but let Bettcher prove to the new HC that he belongs. Results will speak for themselves. If a guy like Shurmur or DeFilippo is our choice but with no meaningful DC in petto, why not retain Bettcher if he's okay with it? Bettcher won't become HC anytime soon, maybe not even DC somewhere else right now. This could work out perfectly fine. Bettcher is not like Horton with a big ego.
Good points, Veer. My main question is---did the players like him because they could get away with stuff and not be held accountable? Too many breakdowns and not enough corrections, imo. Plus, seemed like every week during the meaningful games the defense got scored on in the first possession of the 2nd half. No Todd Bowles magic evident here.
