Tyrann Mathieu- DB - Cardinals
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians was told by the team doctor Tyrann Mathieu's knee was "loose."

"It could be devastating. It could be okay," Arians said. "We just don’t know. When he came off the field, he was smiling. But the doctor said the knee’s loose." Mathieu left Sunday night's win over the Eagles late in the fourth quarter after going to the ground awkwardly while making his fifth interception of the season. A legitimate defensive player of the year candidate, any significant injury to Mathieu would be a big blow to the Cardinals' Super Bowl chances.

I've watched the play enough times that I can't stand looking at it again. The manner in which he just involuntarily lays the ball down after the play is a bad, bad sign. Anyone that's ever had that type of injury, knows the feeling. The body just momentarily goes limp, and holding the ball just doesn't matter any more. I'll be shocked if this isn't a season ender. Football is a heartbreaking sport.

Doc saying the knee is loose is a MCL tear
He can play on it with a brace. Will eventually have to have surgery.

"Loose" could easily be an ACL tear. Doctor did a ligament test and didn't find the support he was looking for. I can't believe this.

I know a team can't bench everyone, but I kept yelling for them to put in the backups when there was like 10 min left in the 4th and a 20+ point lead. When Carson hurt his finger I said they should just leave in the backups. I also couldn't believe they kept David Johnson in the game so long. We dodged a bullet with his injury also. Seemed we just kept tempting fate until something bad did finally happen. I hope TM is fine.

I'm going to be seriously bummed if he's out for the season.

Nothing I didn't expect from seeing it many times. I know it's not confirmed but it's prolly not good. Sux for that kid but we still can achieve our goal.

Well, we're not playing with a 90 man College lineup, you can't substitute for all. Beyond the QB, I can't see why a team would stop running it regular packages to the end.

Crap... happens.

Giants came back from being down 21 with 12-13 minutes to go yesterday.

If that's the case then I want to punch Arians in the face for keeping the starters out there for garbage time.

If the Chris Johnson time frame is anything to go by, they will do an MRI this morning and will announce the results sometime around 1:00 pm AZ time. Bickley and Marotta are on site at the Cardinal facility. They are usually first to break news, but they don't always get it before the national guys.

Im just going to wait until there is something concrete to go on. Loose doesnt mean anything to me.

I have known plenty of loose girls and they got around just fine.

Hit the showers and go cool off.....this statement is idiotic

Do you think the practice squad is available to sub in at a moments notice?? You cant pull players all over the place you dont have a lot of subs. Rashad Johnson was already out.

If it was a major injury and non contact on top of that than it likely was a ticking time-bomb already. It's the major contact injuries that can be avoided by sitting someone, but the non-contact ones are likely to happen eventually.

It wasn't exactly a "non contact" injury in the sense of Palmer's last season.

His foot got caught in the ground and his other leg kicked the injured leg and twisted it in a weird way.

He didn't just collapse as if the knee just gave out.

@ProFootballDoc RE: Mathieu's knee. Arians: "the doctor said the knee is loose." What does that mean, exactly?

"loose" usually means ligament sprain/tear. Hope not.

Whether it's a sprain or tear, we're not seeing him again in the regular season, and the question is whether or not he'll play in the playoffs.

Knee's loose? He's probably done for the year, but while it's a big blow, the team is not.

Beyond football, I feel terrible for this kid. He has done everything right since straightening his life out.

The Cards will be alright. It's not like we have to play with just 10 guys. He will definitely be missed, but again, my heart and prayers go out to HB.

His latest tweet "Do your very best..Cause that's all you're in control of" that was 20 min ago so at least he's still in good spirits

I don't like the speculation game, but Tyrann has experienced a tear before. He would absolutely know if it felt the same, just like Carson did last year.
