It can be a real trial sometimes trying to balance your college allegiance and your allegiance to the Cardinals can't it?

Texas has plenty of titles. Well except in basketball. The Cards don't. So If Swope or Jefferson can help Arizona I'm all for it.

Two bachelor degrees from University of Texas and a masters from The Univeristy of Houston. Well, at least UT's sucky QB play and less than stellar performance of late has my Cardinal allegiance balanced LOL. Oh, and thanks Kolb for making my Houston opinion make sense :)

Matt Summers-Gavin, G/T, California

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/matt-summers-gavin?id=2539211

They had him rated as the #5 best G prospect in the draft, right behind Justin Pugh and Kyle Long.

They compare him to Marshall Yanda.

Knee injury (came back to start 7 games last season) likely caused him to go undrafted.

Tremendous student and character:

Really good on tape---great setup and balance in pass pro---real knee bender, great spine angle---very impressive---finishes off blocks big-time. He's #75 on the tape, see for yourself:

All these OGs on the roster makes one wonder if a veteran or two could be leaving via trade or outright release no matter the cap damages.Maybe trade one for a late pick next season?
Cooper,Summers-Gavin and Watford and Kelemente have to make Mike Gibson,Jeremiah Warren and Adam Snyder nervous.

Current Cardinals UDFA List:
*Won't be official till Monday*

Javon Harris, S
Tony Jefferson, S
Ronnie Yell, CB
Padric Scott, DE
Dan Buckner, WR
Javone Lawson, WR
Jason Brown, WR
Prentiss Waggner, CB
Joe Caprioglio, OT
Jamaal Johnson-Webb, OT
Kory Jones, ILB
Dan Giordano, OLB
Matt Summers-Gavin, G/T

13 total so far.

Keim said they are looking to sign about 15 UDFA. If they do that, and you add in the draft picks they will have about 89 guys on the roster, and you can only have 90. Thus they are almost done bringing guys in for the most part.

That is quite a bit of work if you think back to the fact that before free agency, IIRC, we had about 30 guys.

And I just want to state this one more time...... I REALLY like Dan Giordano. Keep an eye on him. I think he has the potential to challenge O'Brien Schofield for his roster spot. Guy is a BEAST..... and it is not because he paints his face. He may even be able to put some weight on and place some DE for us.

Here's the final list according to azcardinals.com:

– WR Jaron Brown, Clemson
– WR Dan Buckner, Arizona
– T Joe Caprioglio, Colorado State
– ILB Kenny Demens, Michigan
OLB Dan Giordano, Cincinnati
– S Javon Harris, Oklahoma
– CB Josh Hill, California
S Tony Jefferson, Oklahoma
– T Jamaal Johnson-Webb, Alabama A&M
ILB Korey Jones, Wyoming
WR Javone Lawson, Louisiana-Lafayette
– WR Michael Rios, Marist
NT Padric Scott, Florida A&M
– WR Tyler Shaw, NW Missouri State
– CB Prentiss Waggner, Tennessee
– CB Ronnie Yell, San Jose State

Really like the highlighted players especially Scott at NT. This kid is an absolute load. Beast in the mold of Casey Hampton. Was even recruited by Stanford, but wanted to stay close to home.

Any idea what happened to Matt Summers-Gavin?

Cool stuff there. I read up on him and had the wrong guy. He is 6'1" and 320lbs. I saw him listed at 302 lbs and thought he was a DE. Cool stuff.

Happens all the time with these free agents. Sometimes they don't show up, or drop out, or some other craziness.

Time to update the roster !

Jaron Brown WR Clemson-big and fast

Korey Jones ILB Wyoming-listed as an OLB ON NFLDRAFTSCOUT and is an athletic freak. 4.6 40, 40 vertical, 10'10" broad jump, 4.13 20 yard shuttle, 6.88 3 cone drill and 27 reps.

Hey Korey Jones could be a boon if he adds 10-15 pounds more muscle to his frame. Could be a potential stud edge rusher or possibly move inside to WILB behind DWash. It's gonna be fun for sure seeing what these guys got in camp.

Summers-Gavin was rated higher than all the Cards UDFA except Tony Jefferson.Seems like he would have been a Practice squad guy at least.Don`t see the need for 13 WRs on the roster.Need a little more D-line types.

Korey Diede-Jones, LB (6-1 1/8, 232 pounds) – Diede-Jones looked good in positional workouts and clocked in at 4.60 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He ran a 4.26 in the short shuttle and recorded a 10-foot-10 broad jump. He had 26 bench-press reps at the standard 225 pounds.

This is a very exciting UCFA signing---

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2013/04/alabama_am_ol_jamaal-johnson_w.html

Pro Football Weekly had him ranked as a 5th or 6th rounder:

"Thick-bodied, high-cut, big-hipped, upright small-school college left tackle who showed continual improvement and has the mental toughness, durability and intelligence...and has the upside to develop."

I am so ready to go to Arizona. I want to win and open holes. I can't wait to just put on the pads again and get some contact. What a great day, I'm a Cardinal,"
