Excuse me, but you and maybe one or two others think it was 50/50 or close, while the vast majority of everyone else with eyes say it was more in the range of 25-35 percent Steeler fans. Maybe we are all drunk or braindead, or maybe you just can't admit when you are flat out wrong.
And the thread with this much contribution? Most of the contribution is, again, telling you that you are WRONG and are exaggerating.
Bottom line is...Steeler fans came...Steeler fans saw more Cards fans shout them down like they were little *******...Steeler fans and their team got their asses whooped. You are whiny about the crowd; I'm proud as hell of our HOME crowd for once again making a difference. I'm very happy to be on this side of the argument instead of yours.
(how's Josh McCown doing by the way? I miss our battles over him. )
I do not believe the vast majority of Diehards would sell there tickets. But the bandwagon fans that jumped on because of a new stadium and because we got Hollywood Matt jump ship and allow the tickets to go to whomever. If tickets are handed out by the Corporations then there is no control over those tickets so who gets them is anyones guess. If they are there because they live here but still root for there hometown team then I say stay home. Get on board with the hometown fan base. This has been the problem since this team moved here and one of the reasons they haven't sustained a season ticket base. I am just saying don't give the other teams fan an opportunity to show up in great numbers. They did against the Steelers. Had we lost even the ones that want to downplay the Steelers fans attendance would be howling.
By the way, prepare yourself for next season (2008)!!!
The Cowboys are coming to UOP Stadium, as will the SAME PLACE finisher as the Cardinals in the NFC North. That team may very well be either Chicago or Minnesota.
Unlike you, I'm more upset at the people in the Valley who don't buy the tickets instead of Steeler or other teams' fans.
There is nothing at all wrong with tickets sold on the free market...but Cards fans should be buying them up....you think there aren't tickets available for Packers games??? There are...tons...but they are snapped up by Packers fans who will pay whatever it takes to see their team play at home. Cards fans in the Valley without season tix don't care, and the other teams' fans do so they'll pay 700 dollars for 100 dollars worth of seat.
I think many Steeler fans were simply stunned and were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and noise of the home town fans. They were used to dominating the Cardinals team and stadium and they found they couldn't do either on Sunday.
I think this is exactly what happened. Steelers fans came to the game expecting the kind of Cardinal turnout they saw at SDS. You could see it in how they were acting before the game. I overheard one guy on a cell phone saying "its Steeler Nation here". Was he ever wrong.
I also spent a lot of time between plays checking the sections on the side behind the Steelers bench with my binoculars. There were large groups of Steeler fans in every section especially between the 20s in the lower level. Several lofts were also occupied by Steeler fans.
That the Pitt fans were able to get large groups of tickets together rather than in groups of 2 or 4 scattered throughout the stadium backs up what several posters said about the tix being sold or given out by local businesses or sold by brokers.
I still think, with no proof of course, that the Cards sold out their loyal fans and let people/businesses with connections buy large numbers of seats between the 20s in the lower bowl. I doubt very much that large numbers of the 17,500 who had season tickets in 2003 were casual fans who only came to one or two games a year and all bought seats between the 20s in the lower bowl. Because most of those seats were sold out by the time they got to the 2004 priority.
Maybe I should change my screen name to Oliver Stone.
Bull....you were either drunk or braindead or both if you couldn't see the amount of Steeler fans there. It is not a "made up" argument just because you and a handful of others say so.
I think you sat to long in the Sun at Sundevil. Obviously you can't read. Everyone on this thread except you knows we had a huge amount of Steeler fans that had we lost would have been treating us like we were there *******....and they still had the gall to shout us down with there Super Bowl wins....
Now way. I was just looking at the crowd and it looks like its about 30% Steelers fans. Which is pretty much normal for them. They have the best traveling fans in football.
Agree...maybe only 20% of the stadium is Steeler fans. Not near as bad as years past. Lots of RED in there. By a long shot!!!
Yea the more I watch the game the more I think Rats is WAYYY OVEREXXAGERATING!
There are alot of steelrs fans but no where near like he made it sound!
Looked about 70/30 us to me.
I was at the game as well and I would say 1/3 tops. Maybe 1/4 is more realistic.
I'm sure others will correct this, but it was about 30-35 percent steelers fans.
And we shut their muffing mouths.
Rubbish, 75/25 what stadium were you at.
The vast majority was Cardinals fans
Hey I watched game on the "BOOB TUBE", and it also looked like a lot of RED to me also.
It was that way when you first walked into the stadium. Once the game started it was about 70-30. Was plenty of noise by Cards fans.
On TV it looked like a sea of red with a few yellow fish swimming around here and there. Nothing more.
I'd say the stadium was 15% Steeler fans tops.
I was lower bowl north endzone. 60-40 cards is how I saw it.
Now that we can agree on. lol
I still say 75% Cards fans though. lol
That's how I saw it also. The Steelers had between 30 and 40% of the occupied seats.
Also I was in section 118 and I think Rats % are way off due to anger. I'd say 70/30 Cards fans.
My section was about 80% Card fans, but for some reason I was surrounded by the 20%. I kept reminding them that they weren't playing Buffalo, and it was fun watching them sink lower and lower into their seats.
JTS
That stadium on TV was VERY MUCH PREDOMINANTLY RED. Jw7 and nidan seem a much more accurate description of Steeler fans. Somewhere in the 20-25% range. Nowhere near 50.
Yes, Shane is on here a few times but he made good points in each one. Feel free to only count him once.
warm-ups - 95% steeler 5% cardinal
kickoff - 45% steeler 55% cardinal
few minutes in - 30% steeler 70% cardinal
after 3rd TD - 5% steeler 95% cardinal
Maybe we can both claim this one? Push?
I'd say 25-30% Steeler fans, but I can tell you one thing, there won't be as many next time. They thought this was going to one big party with a jack stomping of the Cards topping it off. Instead they went creeping away with their tails between their legs.
And you're the guy who is intolerant of anyone who dares to criticize the players you like, aren't you?
What are you talking about? I have no idea what you are referring to.
As for the the rest of your post.... so what? I had this whole long reply typed then I thought... who cares? You don't know me nor how I do things so quite frankly it doesn't matter what you think of what I did.

In fact the whole topic is really quite useless and I apologize for even posting in this thread. Cards fans attacking other Cards fans is kind of silly and I thought against the rules but its your board so you rule.
Were there too many Steeler fans? Sure, I haven't denied that. But it wasn't half and half as you have REPEATEDLY claimed. And your insults about drunk or braindead and sitting too long in the sun at SDS (which I am proud of doing, btw) must apply to all these other posters on this thread as well who also don't believe your 50/50 claim no matter how often you spout it.
Maybe we all are drunk and braindead...or maybe.........
Go find all the posters who agreed with you and quote them (and make sure you call out the ones who took your word at face value, as opposed to the ones who actually thought they saw 50/50 too.) If there are more, then I'll drop it. If there are less than the ones I'm quoting below...you can stop with the nonsense yourself. Deal
You want to make light of all the Steeler fans that were there and make it about the 50/50 comments....your avoiding that even 30 or 40 % is way to much in our New Stadium. No one who has commented here counted so no one really knows including me and you. Some were not even at the game that commented and probably sold there tickets...at least Clif manned up and said why he did it. Shane didn't. I am pretty sure he is a seasonticket holder. If you couldn't see that it sucked to be surrounded by as many Steeler fans as we were both in the stadium and outside then fine. Sell your seats to some of them. As you state it is your right. Point that is being made by you not 50/50....MY POINT IS THAT EVEN 35 OR 40 % is to much. Had we lost I think you would be saying that was to much as well.
(yes, mine counts as one as does yours)
I'd say the stadium was 15% Steeler fans tops.
You just want to argue for argues sake....I just want to get the message out to STOP selling your tickets to the opposing fans and give them to Cards fans. If your in it for profit....then give up your tickets...you are not a Cards fan...your a ticket broker.
Ya know I hear that alot about the casual fans buying into the team once they win. I don't buy it. This is a transiant population in the Valley and they may never fully embrace the Cards. I mean it has been 20 plus years...there should be a big enough fan base to sell the place out save 3000 seats for opposing teams fans. Especially with a New Stadium and less seats than SD. We have 4 plus million people in this town. Dbacks win a WS early in there existence and they can't get the support a team needs, even for the playoffs??? That sucks. The Cardinals will have to win convincingly for 3 plus years in order to get the support we are talking about.Rats --
I agree, even if it was "only" 25 to 30% Pitt fans, that is too much.
However, I also am thrilled that the stadium is selling out -- and that those Cardinal fans who do go-- it seems 90% are wearing some kind of Cardinal gear.
For those of us who have endured the SDS days -- having 50k fans in support of the Cards and wearing red is part of the whole pro football game experience that has been sorely lacking in years past.
Remember -- this was a 5-11 football team last year in a notoriously fickle sports town-- (exhibit A -- a very entertaining and like-able Dback squad is in the playoffs, and tonight's game didnt sell out until today, and there are still tix available for tommorrow)
As the Cards win, not only will the folks who are more casual fans buy in emotionally and hold onto the tickets that were sold last sunday, but visiting team fans wont be anxious to spend money to fly to AZ to watch their team get stomped.
This problem will fix itself with a little help from the team.
That made me laugh.Rats, I agree that even 10 or 15% of other teams fans is too much. I had enough of that in SDS and I don't want to ever go back.
Now you and Donald be nice boys and quit fighting or I'll have to lock both of you in the closet-----just not together.

Greetings Skkorp. Looks like you are feeling good tonight.
I say we put them in a round room with weapons and let the winner survive - maybe.
