They were probably holding out for an A name to overpay based on success but after Sundays game probably decided they better take UOP before they pulled their offer and Fred's Drycleaners would be the only candidate left.

I've always said that a "University" is not a University unless it has a football team. Does this move make the UoP a real University or will it have to wait until the team have a winning season?

UoP tag line:
"If you've got the money, you'll get the paper"

I went to a REAL University with a REAL football team. (ASU) Well, they had one at the time anyway.

Boy, that makes a LONG list of universities that aren't "real" universities...I'm sure the Red Storm of St. John's University would have an issue with that...

Great a stadium named after an annoying pop-up ad. Unfortunately, I think this goes to show how little demand there were for naming rights. I have a hard time believing that this was their first choice.

So basically, we have a second rate football team playing in a stadium named after a second rate university?

Bidwill said the Cardinals would use the money from the University of Phoenix deal, to be paid annually over the 20 years, to field a competitive team.

"That's what we're about is building a championship team," he said. "This revenue is a big piece of allowing the team to go out into free agency and to move forward."

So I guess there will be no more excuses then? Time to open the checkbook.

:lame:

Submit fan rule.

The stadium shall hereforth be referred to only as Cardinal Stadium or Glendale Stadium in perpetuity.

Use of the name that shall not be named is grounds for immediate confiscation of tickets and all Cardinals merchandise and summary banning from all message board activity

I wonder if the University of Phoenix Cardinals will crack the top 25 in next weeks BCS standings?

Can we build a frat house on Maryland?

The big "tin shed" works for me.

I must admit... I really have to question management's level of intelligence over this move. I could always (mostly) see the other side of the coin on previous issues, but this one just makes me want to puke.

What are you all talking about? With Insight having the stadium wired for internet access, fans can get their diploma on-line while suffering through another 4th Quarter meltdown.

Stupid name, but who cares.... I just hope they get $3M a year or better. Perhaps they could spend that money on an OL.
