If we're done at signing or drafting a high tackle, and we could fit it cap wise, I wouldn't mind have depth at tackle with whoever starts.

If they can keep Veldheer at $6.5mm, then he’s your starter and Smith is your backup / insurance policy who can play both T and G at $4mm. Then if Hump gets injured you can swing the Hulk to LT and Smith is your RT. I think it’s wise to keep both.

I don't want Veldheer at RT. He is a LT and good at it. Hated how BA decided to switch Hump and him. It didn't work out and when Veldheer went back to LT, he was decent again. I want them to keep JV and leave him at LT.

Love how we are building an offense that would have been great 20 years ago. I can’t think of a team that has actually won anything relying on the run game. We have no O-linemen who are good in pass protection so when Mr Glass does drop back it may get ugly real quick. The other sad part is normally when you build a team like this you have a great defense.....we don’t have that.

Wow. I’m on vacation and the Cards signed Two OL! Excellent!

I expected the Cards to go for a run oriented offense. Now beaf up the D and draft a young QB.

Doesn’t Cleveland need a LT now that Joe Thomas retired? Hmmm... Wonder if we’re keeping JV around to workout a trade for that #4 pick.

That is what I hope. The Browns have added some offensive tackle the last couple of days, but I don’t think any of them are at the level of Veldheer, and certainly not at the level of Joe Thomas.

Nice signing! His hometown starts four doors down from me and his high school is in the district I attended from kindergarten through grade 3. Its an omen, I tell ya!

A lot of injury history on that starting lineup, but that's the modern NFL for you. Hope we have some injury protections in that contract if his back continues to be an issue.

All in all, not a horrible line, although my gut says Iupati is washed up at this point.

Yes, and it is a HUGE risk for Keim. He's gotten a lot of grief for relying on aging vets too much, and rightly so, as it has bitten us in the ass. Let's hope it works this time around.

I honestly hadn't bothered to take a look at anywhere he might go, assuming it was going to take a while to get interest, and it looks like he and the Browns are matching back up. Oh well.

To be honest, Jordan Matthews is leaps and bounds beyond what I thought we'd even bring in for a visit, that's why I'd zeroed in on Pryor.
I have a buddy that played with him at Ohio state and another in Washington. He’s a complete douche. Personality-wise, I don’t think Bidwill would ever consider him.

Not sure about the five-year contract, but I like the signing.

Holy smokes that is a lot of coin.

If his back goes out that is a ton of dead cap. I don’t like this, too much to pay a guard, especially one with an injury history.

Actually our whole offensive line has a history of injury.
We better get a good rookie tackle.

No it isn't.

It's basically a 2 year deal with the bonus spread out.

If he earns it all, it's a bargain .

I would say #1 instead of #4. :)

Veldheer is a top LT. You just don't let him leave & get nothing in return. He's definitely valuable as trade bait. You either keep him or trade him.

A little worried about his back problems but I am sure the Cards did their due diligence on it to offer him this type of contract

Agree! With New England, Houston and Cleveland all in need of starting left tackles, you have to get something for Veldheer or keep him on the roster. At the very least
you exchange draft choices and move up in round 1, 2 or 3.
