seems to be the pick as of now. This guy feels like "bust" for me. I pray Peterson or one of the wr's Green/Jones goes to the Cards as long they pick up a veteran QB. Fitz can't do it on his own and I suspect Breaston is on his way out.

word has it that scouts have said Miller lacks a motor, padded his sack totals with unblocked sacks and struggles to get off blocks. Heard nothing of this guy until the 10th week of last season...why?

I would like:

1A Peterson
1B Jones
1C Green

2A Mallet (if he slides)

LB's & OL for the rest :D

Drafting a WR at #1 means tanking next season. If you want Fitz insurance, then fine, but rookie WRs rarely contribute much, especially on teams that have 2 established WRs already. I guess it'd be a great way to make sure we are in the Luck sweepstakes though and probably a great way to get Whiz fired.

glad Go Devils isnt in charge of drafting for us..[/quote]

OK take another reach like "Levi Brown"
who is established @ the other WR? Injury prone and disenchanted Breaston? If you read between the lines he is a goner.

As for a link to the scouting it was a radio interview over the weekend and my own personal opinion after watching him play (no claim to being an expert)

I just want the BPA, not some combine warrior @ a need position.

And if taking a WR means tanking the season then that works also, im down for the overall #1 next year and taking Luck.

Screw that. I do not want another losing season and if we are bad enough for the #1 overall pick it would kill me and this franchise would be back to "Same Old Cardinals"--heck Luck could stay in school again too (he has 2 more years of eligibility left).

I can see no sense in taking a WR #1 (or rounds 2 or 3 for that matter) when we have so many issues on defense and no QB.

My original post stated "if the get a Vet QB" if they dont then Gabbert is probably the guy. Peterson is the BPA if still there and a need not only at CB but as a returner.

D

he did have 17 sacks as a junior the year before. Maybe you weren't home when he called to tell you about his season.

i dunno. Can a guy really get 27 sacks in two seasons because teams simply didnt block the guy? I suspect that after sack, say 10, opposing teams might start assigning a blocker.

With the exception of about 2 or 3 players in this draft I could find you doubts from scouts for just about any player.

The kid is far from just a combine "workout warrior" as Devil suggests.

I am not on the Miller band wagon.

Give me Peterson!

Or Gabbert if we cannot get Kolb or Orton.

Dave Razzano, nfl scout, is the guy whose not a vm fan. Check the link below for his thoughts.

@kentsomersRT @DaveRazzano: When I watchTexas A&M OLB Von Miller, I see some Vernon Gholston. He doesn't play with effort. http://bit.ly/ggW5XT

I would be more concerned if he wasn't absolutely dominant at the Senior Bowl.

Miller is an aggie. That's all you need to know as to why the Cards shouldn't draft him.

Im ok with someone questioning his ability to shed blocks or drop back into coverage... but his motor?? Clearly you haven't seen him play, that's probably the reason he's even being talked about as a top 5 pick. Guy brings it play after play, and is fast, very fast.

With that being said, id take Peterson over Miller in a heartbeat.

I like Millers athleticism & skillset but hate his thin lower body & ability to take on blocks...he can run the arc & do well in coverage, but IMO the Cards will get thrashed in the run game with the "stickmen LB corp". If we get him I have copyright privledges on the T shirts :D

I've seen him give up on plays with my own eyes once the RB or QB gets a step ahead of him.

You don't use a Top 5 pick on a player whose college team pulled him from the field on run downs.

Was that a routine practice or did they picks their spots to give him some rest. That would make sense. His forte is rushing the passer and if I was going to give him a rest, it would likely be on a running play.

^Burns on 620 was paraphrasing what Razzano said when that Gholston comparison came out. Those were pretty much the exact words.
