I'll give him a fair chance , he must have showed the Bolts some qualities or he would not have been on their PS .

That 80 yards he racked up against the Cards in SD must have made an impression.

Love it! Brings some elements similar to Ellington. Not as much raw speed, but a very good receiver, elusive and another difficult matchup for opposing teams. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks.

He's more like elli than anyone else we've got, and that versatility is what the offense is built around.

Grice is a nice sign, IMO.

He is a great fill in for Dwyer's spot

Absolutely no problem with this signing. But, the kid has to learn how to block in pass protection in order to be valuable. If he only runs the ball, then it is a useless signing. ASU, he rarely had to block.

If he can block blitzing LBers or Safties, then it could be an amazing signing,

Dwyer was more of a pick up 3-4 yrds with brute force. Sounds like Grice is more of what Ellington is like. 2 Elligntons on this team will be cool.

I believe that Grice fits very well in to what the Cardinals offense is already doing. Good vision, good at catching the ball, decent runner. Not sure about his speed.

He won't set the league on fire, but nice signing.

As I said before, it all depends on his ability to block. If he can pick up blitzing LBs and Ss, then he will play. If all he can do is run the ball, he will not see much of the field.

For sure, aj. As I recall, Grice was pretty good as a pass blocker at ASU, when called for.

He has excellent instinct for cutting just enough to make a tackler miss without losing his north south momentum. Elusive is a good word. Has a knack for judging an opponents momentum and moving away from it.

I liked him coming into the draft and hoped the Cards would take him.

Still............should have drafted Hyde :D.

I like what rotoworld had to say about Grice on the Cards:

Grice is a candidate to bypass No. 2 RB Stepfan Taylor on the depth chart. Sep 22 - 7:00 PM

My only concern about the signing is that the Chargers had a void at RB (Woodhead/Mathews) and they didn't bring him up to the 53 man roster.

Huh? How the heck is Grice and Ellington even remotely comparable???
Grice is bigger, slower (significantly!) and is a plodder.
Bay man would be "more like Elli", not Grice...
If anything, Grice is much more like Taylor...

Knew nothing about Grice however after watching the videos posted I have to say I like how he uses his blocks and he seems to have very good vision. As someone else mentioned, he seems to be able to make his cuts without losing his forward momentum.

Maybe Taylor will be the odd man out, not Parm.

I'm just glad Keim never stops working. As he said he likes to churn the bottom of the roster.

Thats the biggets takeaway.

I think Grice catches the ball well too which I like.

Can we bring in Kadeem too and have a Mano y Mano battle for #2 RB????

Taylor's blocking is keeping him in a job. I do like the fact that we run the ball more and play possession football. Running can be very effective, especially in the 4th quarter when the D is gassed. Again, Whiz rarely ran in the second half.

My only concern about the signing is that the Chargers had a void at RB (Woodhead/Mathews) and they didn't bring him up to the 53 man roster.

We just don't know why that happened. Perhaps it's as simple as they decided not to make other moves because Matthews is only out a month or so. You'd think they would, but it doesn't always happen. They still had Woodhead and Donald Brown, plus another rookie.

However when Woodhead went down you'd think he would be on the phone with him soon after. Doesn't take long to know someone has a broken fibula. It's a fast diagnosis. X-rays are standard and quick. Perhaps they just didn't think they needed to act quickly.

At this point comes the big question mark. Did he get passed over and know he wasn't going to move up to San Diego's 53, or did Keim steal him away before the Chargers could react?

It's very plausible to think with Grice being signed about 24 hours after Woodhead's injury that Keim probably decided he needed to move fast to get him and then succeeded. We signed him to a 2 year deal, so we obviously made a contractual promise that appealed to Grice. Maybe it came down to Grice only being called up, while we were ready to make a commitment.

I think it's less likely that he was passed over, since they liked him enough to sign him on the practice squad. My guess is that we literally stole him out from under the Chargers and they weren't willing to match our commitment.
