I am taping a lot of movies and some sporting events from my DVR and want to know what kind of dvd do you use? I have been using dvd-R, mainly because they are not expensive.

You need to figure out what your DVD player will support. If you have an older DVD player it may only work with +R or only with -R or neither. Most modern DVD players support both

Taiyo Yuden are hands down the best DVD-R's on the market. Verbatim is not bad either.
