If we pass out on Love, I wonder if McD will consider trading up and drafting Vonleh. Good thing about is Vonleh is that he would be under contract for years to come and has a high ceiling and the attributes that we are looking for. Bad thing is, obviously, that he's unproven in the NBA.

Oh, there's a lot more bad things about him that that. I like his up-side too but he's a long ways from being anything close to an impact player in the NBA. If you thought Gortat was soft around the rim wait till you watch this guy play.

IMO its highly likely that if the Suns just stayed healthy next year and made no changes at all they would make the playoffs.

I'm tired of talking about Love. I have not read one single comment anywhere that indicates he has any interest in joining the Suns. There has to be a better fit out there somewhere. Things are really gonna heat up in the next 10 days. The Suns have 3 firsts in a deep draft, they must be getting a lot of calls.

If the finals wrap up today the rumor mill is gonna explode.

The Suns, unless they give up the farm, are a playoff team with Love. That's all I'm saying. If you read most of my posts, they are usually against the Suns going after Love. However, as a fan, I have to look at all the options.

I think the Wolves are going to hang onto K Love for next season and make some moves to improve their chances of making the playoffs - its folly for them to give up while they have a ghost of a chance. Its unfortunate for them they couldn't get an energetic young coach as I never thought very highly of Flip as a coach. Hiring himself as a coach probably puts him in a bad light as a GM.

Dieng is the main reason I think they have a decent shot at making the playoffs next year - they might have made it this past year if they'd played him consistently all season. Were I them I'd pursue Chandler Parsons and/or Gordon Hayward, both of whom are good, smart all around players. Or maybe swap Pekovic for some high scoring wing - something to shake things up a bit. Give Rubio more good passing options so he doesn't have to shoot much at all. Shabazz might blossom or they could get a scoring wing in the draft but I don't think I'd want to bet on those options. Kevin Martin was their second leading scorer last year at 19+ per game but he probably won't keep that up - another reason to bring in a talented SF. They also need a better back up PG - they have 3 now in JJ Barea, Alxexy Shved and AJ Price none of whom got a reasonable number of assists this past year.

If we traded for Love how could we not be the frontrunner for Lebron? He'd have to be stupid to not sign here. Consolation prize Anthony, although I fully believe he would be too stupid to sign here.

I know its at "duh" kind of thing. But the guys on KTAR said yesterday that the Suns have a plan in place for pursuing LeBron should he become a free agent. Its considered a long shot, but they are going to give it their best shot.

I guess, given the payoff, that it makes sense to prepare for the possibility no matter how slim it is. It surprised me at first but I can think of a few reasons he might consider us.

why the hell not? And I'd be willing to part with pretty much anything to get Love as a big carrot to try and bring LeBron here. Dragic an 2 first for Love to try and make a LeBron/Love/Bledsoe big 3? in a second I'd shoot for the moon there. If Bledsoe was tradable, I'd do the same thing there as well. LeBron/Dragic/Love is a an easy contender. Go big or go home.

if this was a Colangelo-esque run team, I could see this as a serious possibility given his stature in the league, but we're just starting to rehab our image and that I think makes this a lot more difficult to get the best player in the game.

Lebron should consider us even without Love.

Bledsoe/Dragic/Lebron/Frye/Plumlee is a very good starting 5
or
Bledsoe/Dragic/Tucker/Lebron/Plumee

I'd say that is better than what the Heat have around Lebron.

Now if we could somehow fit Lebron and Pau Gasol under the cap.. might be possible if Frye opts out.

Someone tell me what is so good about the Warriors offer of

David Lee and Klay Thompson?

Gerald Green was better than Klay across the board:

Klay Thompson 14.3 PER 19/3/2 per 36Min 53%eFG 108Ortg 106Drtg .112 WS/48
Gerald Green 16.5 PER 20/4/2 per 36Min 55%eFG 112Ortg 108Drtg .126 WS/48

Markieff Morris already was as good as David Lee.

Btw Klay Thompson is 24, Markieff Morris is 24, Gerald Green is 28.

Lee is in the last year of his deal and would replace Love with similar production (double double production), Thompson is younger with more potential than Green plus Green already had a stint in MIN that didn't work out. I've read GS may look to include Barnes in a deal for Love but MIN is insistent on Thompson.

I think a CLE has a better package of Thompson, Waiters & the #1 pick. That package blows everyone's offer off the table. People may think that's too much to give up for Love but if that convinces LeBron to come back and keep Irving to form a Big 3 in CLE it would be worth it.

Lee is certainly not in the last year of his deal. He has two years left at over $15M a piece.

That is ridiculous. Nobody in their right mind would pick Green and Morris over Lee and Thomson, unless they were only interested in financial relief.

Everyone who wants the better players would pick Morris and Green seeing how Green easily was better than Thompson last year while Morris was already as good as Lee almost.

Not to mention that Green 28 and Morris 24 are younger than Lee 31 and Thompson 24.

Also I disagree that Thompson has more potential than Green. He is 4 years younger but he has some limitations. Green is a late bloomer and who knows how much better he can still be. Green was awesome last year but he has not reached his ceiling.

That is ridiculous. Nobody in their right mind would pick Green and Morris over Lee and Thomson, unless they were only interested in financial relief.

Nobody in their right mind would pick Thompson and Lee over Morris and Green, unless they were only watching nationally televised games.

Thompson is OVERRATED.

Initially I was going to just agree with you but I decided to check the stats to see how much of a difference there was between the two sets of players. Surprisingly, their numbers aren't all that different especially when they are minutes-adjusted. Numbers don't tell the whole story but a year ago slin's comment would have been beyond absurd. Now it's probably no worse than wishful thinking (from a Suns fan perspective).

No anyone objectively judging these players after this season would come to his conclusion. If you take Thompson and Lee it is probably because you hear their names more often on ESPN.

Green has been simply better than Thompson at 4 years olders but still "young".

Markieff has almost matched Lee in production, in fact in some key advanced stats including points per post up and so on he is better, he is 7 years younger and almost as efficient already.
Markieff compares favorably with players like David Lee, Paul Millsap and some other allstar power forwards at the same age.

Our package is criminally underrated and the reason for that is that our players are not mentioned as often on ESPN.

The Celtics offer is a big pile of garbage except for the #6 pick and the Bulls or Warriors offers are just straight up worse than ours.

Gibson and Markieff are very close and Markieff much younger and our picks are better than the Bulls picks.

Horny has found a way to get the gold out of players. Green is much more valuable now than ANYONE in the league really understands. It is so important that we value our own players based upon actual production and not on conventional wisdom.

BTW. Klay Thompson is at a really deceptive stage. He could easily flatten out his production from here going forward.

If the Warriors weren't on national TV on the time and Thompson always mentioned along with Stephen Curry we wouldn't even talk much about Thompson. His stats are not very impressive except for his shooting. He shoots about 1% better from 3 than Green and they both made almost the same amount.

What's funny is that Gerald Green has played 400 less NBA minutes than Thompson so far. I see no reason why Gerald Green can't improve just as much or more than Thompson in the next 2 years.

Argueably Gerald Green was a top 5-7 shooting guard last season. Obviously that is helped by the fact that the position is very thin after Harden/Dragic/Wade.

I agree with some of this but I also think you have to consider that Markieff gets a far greater percentage of his minutes against bench players than Lee does. It's hard to make a straight comparison when that occurs especially since you also have to factor in the quality of his teammates during those stretches (and other things I'm sure).

After playing with absolute trash big men his whole NBA career, I have a feeling that LeBron's gonna try to go to a place with some good All Star caliber big men.

And that place isn't Phoenix.

Thompson has a much higher ceiling than Green. Green was at his best last year as a 3pt chucker who can't dribble or pass.

Thompson is as good as him and Thompson's only been in the league fly what, 3-4 year? Green's been in the NBA forever.

There's a reason he's bounced around everywhere.

Boston's offer is better than any suns offer (unless you include dragic/bledsoe, which i wouldn't because then why would love extend here).

But i think boston's offer is actually a good deal for minny, but an idiotic move for love, as the supporting cast in boston is worse than minny. It'll be dwight all over again, stay for 1 year and leave as a free agent.

If I were Minnesota and Phoenix offered the Morris twins, the 14th and 18th picks this season and the choice between the Lakers pick and our own 2015 pick, I'd take our offer over the package(s) that Boston is reportedly going to make available. I wouldn't be thrilled with either deal but Boston's rumored deal isn't all that good AFAIC. What is it that you like about Boston's offer?

I think we'd have to do the same thing Boston would have to do. Piecemeal out some of our assets in an effort to get specific players and future picks that would interest Minnesota more. In the meantime, someone like Golden State will probably come in with enough to make it happen before we can improve our position.

With the #6 pick in this draft you are not chosing from that much more quality than between #10-14.

And the #6 pick is basically all that Boston offers. Sullinger and Olynyk are role players with low ceiling.
