When will people critically analyze Kobe Bryant's playoff performances?

I honestly do not believe the Bulls team would win 6 titles in the 80's against the showtime lakers or bird celts.

me neither, but I also don't think the Lakers win 5 titles during that span either if the Bulls played during the 80's. Those three teams probably split the titles down the middle, with the Lakers getting the benefit of not having to face each other in the Conference Finals every year.

All am saying is, this extreme bad blood has been spreading from thread to thread, so much so it is taking away from the threads main topic.

And now what? Be passive? Whats the solution? Let them run all over everything?

What are you talking about?

Kick back.. I see you as a good poster, but you aint been here as long as others.. No disrespect.. That aint my intention.. Just chill..

I also don't believe that the Bulls threepeat in the early 90s if Magic doesn't get the HIV. They were retooling specifically to go at the Bulls. And they lost Worthy and Scott in game 4 of that Finals as well. Those would have been some fun matchups if they met another time or two.

eh, that Laker team was on it's last legs IMO. I (and pretty much everyone else) was shocked when they upended the Blazers (Magic's toss the ball down the court, running out time in a 1 point elimination game is probably the greatest/smartest non-scoring play in NBA history), but I didn't see much more from that team.

Magic had a hell of a lot more talent than Jordan. He wouldn't have needed to be outright better than him. There would have been strength in numbers. 87 Lakers v. 92 Bulls would have been beyond epic IMO. Those are probably the two best teams to play in the modern era.

Agreed... would have been evenly spread out amoungst the 3. As for my comments on Kobes' being able to play 4-6 more years... i didn't mean at this level. I can certainly see him giving 3 to 4 more at this level but still contributing 2 or so years past that in a diminished role as long as the Lakers stay competive. If Bynum lives up to his potental, he will be the center piece. No pun intended. Nash, although not the player he was 3 years ago is still productive. If you thought I meant he would be playing at this level 6 years from now, well that not going to happen.

i understand that but when Kobe's 34-35, that means Bynum's pretty much gonna have to be flat out one of the best players in the NBA for them to still have a chance. It'll be pretty interesting to watch how the Lakers play out this thing. I think they have a legit 3 year window in which they could (and should if Bynum's able to come back healthy) dominate, but I think that's about it considering how late they're getting into it for Kobe's career.

That would be a classic... I think the x factor would be Kareem. The bulls would have had no answer for him. IMO

My fave player on that team was worthy. Loved his game.

Completely disagree. Young Divac, and the vets were ready to roll. Plus, West would have gotten what was needed to fix the team. They were by no means done, though Worthy would be by 93. Scott was a double digit scorer into 96, and fat magic got 15 and 7 in the 95 season, on his weak comeback try.

That team was all about titles, from West on down to the last guy on the bench. They would have got one from the Bulls...it was their singular goal before the announcement. Course, we will never know.

No doubt, but it's not like they wouldnt also be able to obtain other talent. Only time will tell.

so, you think they would have beaten the 67 win Bulls team that was even more superior than the first title team in 1992? Or the three-peat Bulls team when Worthy's game had really deteriorated as had Scott's, down to 13 ppgs? Not to mention that Magic would have been 34 by then? The 92 Bulls team was one of the best ever and by 1993, the Lakers would have been run clear off the court. And none of this takes into account that they would have been matched up coaching wise with Phil v. Dunleavy. Come on man.

The team centered around Magic and Kareem was all about titles. That ended in 89 when Magic got hurt and Kareem retired.

Here's the kicker.. Donald is a Lakes fan (by his own admission) because he thought the Suns fans were arrogant when he was a kid.. lmao.. I mean.. What? So basically he took that 10 folds and decided to throw it in AZ fans faces with all the lakers chamionships.. He has no pride in his land or community.. The Suns win a game, ah hell o, the Lakers win something because some little town AZ prideful person is a Suns fan.. Im gonna try my hardest to find out waht Suns game these doughbag, double collar laker fans are going to next year (donald and his constant stroker abomb) will be at.. I'll be just like I am at Cards games. jerkoffs..

They were already retooling with the Bulls in mind after that Finals. Bringing in Threatt to backup Magic to counter Phil's use of Scottie on Magic in the Finals..a solid PG who could move Magic around more to negate having to bring the ball up against Pippen's length...biggest factor in that series. Threatt was a move entirely focused on the Chicago Bulls. They would have done other things as well, possibly moving Worthy, doing something. West wasn't a guy to be content. The face of the early 90's changed when Magic retired.

I don't know if they would have beat the Bulls, but they would have given them a run for their money. The 93 season would have been tough though, going through Phoenix in the west.

Ok, you earned a reply from me simply to correct your mistake. I've always been a Laker fan...the reasons why were discussed on a thread a long time ago, and it has nothing to do with the Suns. It has to do with my Dad's family and the Lakers finally getting West a ring a couple of years before I was born, and my great uncle who raised my dad and was the biggest Angels and Lakers fan I've ever known.

What you are confusing is why I don't care for the Suns...the attitudes of the Suns fans in my podunk town towards Lakers fans. That, the couple of times the Suns beat Showtime and Danny Ainge, are the major reasons why I just don't care for the Suns. Get your facts straight when you pop off.

And doughbags? LOL. Clever way around a personal attack there Gee. Well played.

he face of the 90's changed when... 1989 became 1990. The Lakers were never the same team after Kareem retired and the calendar turned on them as the Lakers got old (happens to ten year long dynasties... ask SA about that), the Bulls were the young bucks with the most disgusting player the league had ever seen and only destined to get better. Hell, you could almost see a parallel between SA and the Lakers now as the Spurs got their tired, injury riddled bones rolled by the Lakers the same way the Lakers did by the Bulls back then, except that the Bulls finished the job with a title and it looks like the Lakers are up the creek without a paddle. Meanwhile, the Spurs still have that Big 3 but do you consider them a threat to the Lakers anymore? If you an honestly answer yes then okay, but I don't see them as a threat to you guys at all.

Just like this year, the '91 Finals was a changing of the guard either way with or without Magic retiring. You can't outrun age (especially when you're a running team) and the Lakers had been aging and would only continue to. Worthy's game began to deteriorate in 92 as did his health as missed something like 30 games and he was never the same player after that.Byron would miss a quarter of 93... they were just getting old, plain and simple. old and they were you're Big Three". It just happens when teams get old.

You can beat your chest about West as much as you want (and should) but he couldn't stop the hands of time from moving.

I don't see them as the threat, but Duncan has a few more good years, Parker is young....the wild card is Manu, who looks to be breaking down some. But he will still be good for a couple of years. The spurs really hurt themselves when they let Scola go...kind of surprised at that move. He would have been huge for them. It is up to what they do if they are to remain relevant.

I see the biggest challengers to be the Nooch, Utah and Portland. Portland especially because they are just a team that has the Lakers number...

LMAO.. Just two weeks ago Donald and his crew were more than willing to talk and talk about how great they and their lakers were.. These days? Not so much.. This boy took his ball and went home.. Morenci is no where to be found.. And Donald has been reduced to speaking in tongues he never knew.. lmao.. DCR is prolly giving himself a 5/5 for playing guitar hero cuz Donald lost so he cant believe in him no more.. The empire is crumbling..

Jordan did not hit his prime or win his first championship until he was Kobes age this year. Jordan was the first real megastar of the media age and a media darling no matter his faults. Others will follow and surpass his numbers. It's a given. You cannot compare eras and it is as simple as that. Why does everyone have to compare them anyway? Why can't we just appreciate or hate Kobe for him as opposed to him compared to MJ? It's meaningless. Just as comparing MJ to the big "O" who IMO is the greatest guard of all time.

Yes, but Jordan before he was 29 and winning championship..
was putting up numbers that Bryant in his hoggiest season cannot even touch.... WHILE playing both ends of the court. Bryant stopped playing "defense" to put up 40 points consecutive nights when he averaged 35 a season.....

No contest.

37ppg
35ppg
33ppg

while putting up 2+ steals 1.2 blocks... 5+ rebounds 5+ assists, ON 50%+ FG...

I do understand why some people think Bryant is close.... they're Laker fans.

hey I once thought Michael Finley was close to Clyde Drexler when he played for the Suns... then truth kicks in when they leave.... you can see clearly again... no biased.

The difference being that Kobe in his first few years came off the bench and during the Shaq years was the 2nd option. Jordan obtained those lofty numbers because he was the 1st option, and if you remember, was vilified in the press, by teamates, and by fans as being a self absorbed, selfish, ballhogging stat monger. It wasn't until he got good players around him and he learned to trust in them that they started winning. Sounds awfully familiar to somebody playing today doesn't it?

Many in the media feel Bryant is close. Players from both eras as well. Coaches and even players from the Bulls have even commented recently on the similiarities. And as i have said so many times, it's different eras and its so dfficult to compare players when they are. Especially statwise. Not to mention that Kobe is not even close to being done yet.

It's sad that all that they have to be compared anyway. Let Kobe be Kobe.
