Cardinals, only we won't run the ball as much or get as many sacks, we'll throw the ball more.

Russ, then we'd be like the Rams when they won the Super Bowl a few years ago.

Sounds good to me.

Yessssss....the Lions.

Yes the Lions can be the Panthers of 2003. Coaching is the key to any turn around.....The Lions have added some quality new coaches this year, as Mooch was stuck with the staff handed to him when he took over late in the year last year. The improvement hinges on the devolepment of Harrington and the overall health of the team. The Lions have alot of money to spend on free agency and more top draft picks. The Lions led the league on players in injured reserve and the lack of Stewart and Rogers can't be ignored. By the way the Lions play the Card's again this season......hopefully early in the season in Arizona so the Lions can atleast get the away losing streak off their back. I hoping for a one game injury to Bolden so I won't have to watch that beast smoke my DB's again.

The Cardinals & Lions are the biggest longshots for the 2005 Super Bowl at 150-1. Those of you near Vegas ought to put some money on the Cardinals. It would be a great payoff. That being said, it WON'T be the Cardinals. I do see them being much better, probably 7-9 or 8-8. If I had to pick a team to follow in the Panthers footsteps, I would say Atlanta in NFC, Jacksonville or Cincinnati in AFC.

The Lions have a terrible GM in Millen. Mooch is overrated as a coach.

Atlanta has hired a bad head coach. They needed to add someone with a clue. They will get more wins just on the sheer talent of Vick. But they are not going anywhere.

Cinci. is almost there. They have a great coach. They almost got there this year. This is a team on the rise.

Jax doesn't have a good coach. I doubt they will make a turn around.
Leftwich was a good pickup though.

Hou seems like it just doesn't have enough. They have a good coach.

A team with a lot of talent that added a great coach... the Redskins. I say watch out for the Redskins. They could turn it around bigtime.

I wish I could say the Cards but there is a lack of serious talent on this team. Most of the guys are potential. You need proven quality NFL players. And there is only so many you can add in one year... none-the-less you added a great coach so that should make a difference.

Sorry. The game next season is in Detroit.

The over for 'wins for the season' would probably be a better bet. But that's what I said last year too

Upward bound:

1. Cincinnati (spelling?) Depends on Carson Palmer. Everything else is in place,

2. Jacksonville.

3. Detroit. Love that defense. They need a RB and another WR. If they get them, watch out.

4. Cardinals are headed for 8-8 or 9-7 in the weak NFCW.

On the way up:

1. Atlanta - Won three of their last four to end the season.

2. New York Jets - Chad Pennington is going to be back, and there will be improvements on defense.

3. Cincinnatti - They're positioned to get the best cornerback in the draft, which is what they need (24th in the NFL).

Don't buy the hype:

1. Washington - They're going to have to get over themselves before they start winning, and it's going to take a little while to re-tool the roster for Gibbs's system (which I'm not certain will still be effective).

2. Detroit - If it's possible, things are going to get worse before they get better in Motor City. They're going to need new safeties, a new running back, probably a new defensive end, and a possession WR across from Charles Rogers. They're $14 mil. under the cap, but they'll also have a lot of dead money. Bill Schroeder might have been the worst FA acquisition in NFL history. This team is old, and it's going to take a while to get it young again. 2-5 to end the season doesn't really diagnose a team that's starting to "get it". Matt Millen set this team back four to seven years, and it's going to take some time for Mooch to rein the team in.

Oh, and I like the Texans, too. They played Tennessee and Indy close at home to end the season, and with a defensive playmaker acquired in the draft, they'll be pretty tough. Wild Card tough.

Good Point

Good point Kourac9,,,my thoughts exactly. The Lions are not as old you you may think. Most of the older players are off the street free agents that the Lions got year only to fill the gaps left for the key players lost to injury. Our kickers are old, but like wine they get better with age. There will be an overhaul this off season to rid the Lions of most of the older players(Porcher, Ellis, Otis Smith, The Walker safties, Schroeder, etc). The key contributors are the young kids, Harrington, Rogers, Fitzsimmons(TE) The Boss, Shaun Rogers, Backus, McDougal, Riaola, Cash, Dre Bly, Terrance Holt(Torry's Bro), etc. By the way I think you are really going to like Dennis Green as a Coach, I always hated to play his teams in Minnesota. He is the only coach I would rather had instead of Mooch. He is an offensive master, his only draw back is his teams seemed to lack cohesion and played somewhat undisiplined at times. His Minnesota teams had difficulty in big games, but at this time I would rather play some big games and lose then to be out of the running mid-way through the season.

Maybe he learned something the last two years? I would take a post season failure 8 out of ten in a heart beat. I just wonder how much Denny has grown being out of the action. He seems driven and may adjust for his mistakes. It will be interesting to experience.

DG does not have to grow up. DG has nothing to learn. DG did not make any major mistakes in Minnesota. DG has always been driven. DG's teams played with cohesion and discipline.

The reason we made the playoffs 8 times in 9 straight years and never had a losing season is because DG cares about only 1 thing: winning the SB. That is why the team was successful. He expects to win a SB and will do everything in his power to do it. And if our FG K had not missed an easy kick he would have had his shot in 98. And if not for 3 key injuries and the plays being known he would have had another shot in 2000.

The reason he resigned was because the owner was no longer driven to win. DG could have stayed in Minne and pretended that the owner was trying to win like Tice has for 2 years. But DG is into winning SBs not maximizing profit.

The man won a SB ring with the 49ers. He won an NCAA coach of the year and 2 NFL coach of the years. WIN. That is what it is all about.
