Re-reading this, I'm seeing that I shouldn't try to predict anything about the 10th pick of the draft.

The two biggest ones...

The first draft where I was "all-in" as a football fan, the first draft I did research, went crazy for draft weekend etc. I was crushed when we not only traded out of the #10 spot, I was upset because we didn't take Byron Leftwich. I didn't think Terrell Suggs was going to translate nearly as well to the NFL.

When the Cardinals took Leinart I was excited. My friend is a Rams fan and he texted me at 9 and said that it looked like both the Cards and the Rams were going to get their QB of the future. I told him that Leinart was the real deal, but that Cutler wasn't going to make it. He was so upset the Rams traded down out of #11 that year and let Cutler go to the Bronocos, but I said they avoided a sure bust.

I don't trust Ken Whisenhunt with developing players he drafted- It is not just his picker that is broken but He seems to get the worse out of talented players- Who have you seen grow into a star under whisenhunt? I've seen stars die miserable Cardinal deaths like Edge, and Denny drafted players leave, Kurt retire early. Even Allan Branch is doing better for Pete Carroll.

I really don't like saying this but it is true, Buster Davis - Woo Hoo in the 3rd, is I had too pick one huge miss.

I thought Reggie Nelson was going to be a stud/playmaking safety in the NFL, he hasn't been anything more than average.

My biggest miss is probably when I thought Ryan Leaf was going to be a good NFL QB. I was at the ASU/Wash St game and the passes he threw in that game sold me, didn't realize he was mentally unstable and lazy.

Steve Pizarkwicz.

I was absoutely thrilled when we drafted when we drafted Neil Lomax. I thought he was the best college passer I had ever seen.

Another huge disappointment for me was Johnny Barefield.

Campbell, Washington, and Peterson rank in our top 15 players.

I hated Andre Johnson. I loved Carlos Rogers. I wanted the Cards to take Roy Williams instead of Fitz if they HAD to draft a WR. I don't know anything about wideouts.
I was also extremely high on Rogers. He was one of the best college receivers I've ever watched. It's too bad he could never get his head together.

I was with you on Leftwich. Seeing his teammates carry him down the field after he broke his leg must have blinded me to his loping delivery.

I also fell in love with a lot of Dennys picks that never panned out

Elton Brown
JJ Arrington
Leonard Pope
Gabe Watson
Lance Mitchell

One I was convinced would be great that went later than his talent has shown he should've was Frank Gore

David Terrell, Vernon Gholston, and Maurice Clarett are the 3 that jump to the top of my mind. I still don't know how Gholston was such a bust. He was an absolute animal at OSU and had good work habits.

Biggest misses? That's easy:

Brian Urlacher-We took Thomas Jones instead even though a guaranteed stud like Urlacher was sitting there for the taking. Jones, of course, had success elsewhere as well and still is. Sort of the M.O. of Cardinal draft picks.

Igor Olshansky - I thought he would have been the most dominant DL for years.

Anthony Thompson - thought he would be a pounding, consistent, but not flashy RB.

Ronald Moore - thought he was going to be dominant RB

Also thought some Oklahoma CB was going to be the first pick in the draft. A guy so good that I can't even remember his name right now..

Andre Woolfolk? I remember being interviewed at the 2003 draft party about the trade and I said that if we drafted Andre Woolfolk and Jeff Faine the Cards had made a great move.

Weird situation. Ron ran for over 1000 yards as a rookie. The first Cardinal RB to do so since the Stumper in 1985. Then Buddy Ryan came to town and Runnin' Ron turned into a bum. :(

We also had Garrison Hearst on the team. I may be wrong but didn't we trade Ron Moore to the Jets for Rob Moore?

Yessir. Ron Moore was a throw in with the first round pick the Cards gave the Jets for Rob Moore. Odd that 3 different top Cardinal running backs ended up playing for the Jets. Ron Moore (leading rusher '93 and '94), Johnny Johnson (leading rusher '90 '91 '92) and Thomas Jones(first round selection 2000).

Hearst meanwhile had injury problems and only started 5 games total '93 and '94. Of course then he goes to SF and.....:bang:

I remember thinking Raynoch Thompson was our answer at OLB. Actually that entire draft of 2000 I was sure would help us turn the corner:
-Thomas Jones (found success other places just not here)
-Raynoch Thompson (He was so fast, he'd run right by you!)
-Darwin Walker (3rd rounder that never made it out of camp, was a penetrating DT and we needed more of a nose tackle or something. you think we would have thought about that before drafting him, played for the eagles)
-Mao Tosi - (5th round, what a steal!)
-Jay Tant - (TE from northwestern so you know he's smart)
-Jabari Issa - (another steal in the 6th)
-Sekou Sanyika - (7th rounder that was bound to make a difference!)

Another in a long line of disappointing drafts.

Man, I'm really grateful for the success we've had in the last 4-5 years. Here's to hoping this draft puts us right back up there!

You forgot about Murrell - led the Cards in 98 with 1042 yds - a Jet before that.
