My biggest worry with Leinart is his durability. I have faith in him being able to operate the offense..please if you don't trust him bring it to one of the other dozen or so threads discussing that and leave this one to discuss viable candidates to back him up.

Here is a list of potential free agents....
Charlie Batch UFA Steelers
John Beck RFA Ravens
Kyle Boller UFA Rams
Mark Brunell UFA Saints
Jason Campbell* RFA Redskins
David Carr UFA Giants
Kellen Clemens* RFA Jets
Brodie Croyle* RFA Chiefs
Daunte Culpepper UFA Lions
A.J. Feeley UFA Panthers
Charlie Frye* RFA Raiders
Bruce Gradkowski* RFA Raiders
Rex Grossman UFA Texans
Matt Gutierrez RFA Chiefs
Tarvaris Jackson* RFA Vikings
Josh McCown UFA Panthers
Matt Moore RFA Panthers
Kyle Orton* RFA Broncos
Chad Pennington UFA Dolphins
Chris Redman UFA Falcons
Troy Smith RFA Ravens
Brian St. Pierre UFA Cardinals
Seneca Wallace UFA Seahawks
Charlie Whitehurst* RFA Chargers

Then there are rumors of Buff cutting one of their 3 QBs (Edwards, Fitzpatrick or Brohm), Cleveland cutting Quinn or Anderson and who knows what other surprise.

I doubt we give any team compensation for a RFA so that leaves UFA or veterans who may be cut.

I'd be interested in Edwards or Fitzpatrick if either is cut and if not of the UFA's I'd be OK with Carr, Grossman or Redman.

Thoughts?

Me. I want to do it.

Short of that it really doesn't matter too much, though if Matt Gutierrez somehow hits the street I'd love for the Cards to bring him in.

Chris Redman Falcons is my choice.

HT: 6-3, WT: 223, Born: 7-7-1977

He is a solid backup and has done well in games that he has started.

Former Arena league QB working as an assistant at his alma mater who had been released pre season by a couple of NFL teams.

That scenario seemed to work once before.

It was at this time that Warner..... He also returned to Northern Iowa and worked as a graduate assistant coach with the football team, all the while still hoping to get another tryout with an NFL team. With no NFL teams willing to give him a chance, Warner turned to the Arena Football League in 1995 and signed with the Iowa Barnstormers.

I liked what I saw in Matt Moore, but he is restricted. It will be interesting to see what they tender him at.

Anderson intrigues me.

He had a decent year in 2007 but he was downright awful in '09...the game he had against Buff might have been the worst QB performance in recent history... 2 of 17 passing 23 yards with an INT, in fact 5 of his last 6 games(all starts) he had a completion % under 50% with 1 TD and 6 INTs.

I have no idea what went wrong with him but he is young(27 by training camp) and maybe he can be fixed...thats up to the scouts to figure out I guess.

That's what intrigue is all about, right?

backup Leinart where? He's already banked a ton of money here and has not shown much in return.
What makes you think that he will be on this team next year? Wiz has given him many opportunities to show that he's worth a shot but he did not take advantage of that.
I say cut our losses and trade him.

Looking at the list none of the options are really worth getting excited about. Why bring someone who's done as little as Matt and make them learn the system? Cutting or trading Leinart will likely yield nothing positive. Keeping him may not either but our chances are at least as good or better with him than any of the bums listed as FAs.

Did you not read the first post? If you don't trust him you have about a dozen other threads to spew your nonsense.

Whisenhunt said this just today, "Matt has had an opportunity to play behind a guy that’s played at as high a level as anybody in the league. He’s grown and learned. I’m excited about what Matt’s going to do for us in the future."

An awesome third for our team would be Chase Daniel who's the Saints number 3 but they keep sending him down to the practice squad, if they did that one more time i'd sign him in a heartbeat.

David Carr would be my pick of the litter out of that list.

Off that list and depending on his health I'd go with Chad Pennington.

the 4 i like are all RFA's, Croyle, Clemens,Campbell, Whitehurst. Whitehurst got alot of good reviews coming out of Clemson but he was never going to see the field with Rivers in SD.

david carr,he went to school here where i live in fresno and wou;d ;ove to get off the east coast and closer to home
he's incredibly tough, and with a decent line giving him time to go through his reads and the weapons we have i think he would have a chance to flourish here
so going to camp with leinert carr and st pierre would be allright for me
its going to be an interesting offseason for sure
and i think matt only benefited from warners example and tutelage over the past few years and he will be all the better for it
