Keeping good offensive and defensive coordinators will be a problem for the Sun Devils when better opportunities arise. Perhaps ASU will look to hire older coordinators in the future who are not as likely to leave.

You mean like Phil Bennett??

Well - reports are that Herm is very interested in Donnie Henderson for the DC job... Donnie is 60 years old.
He used to be a DB coach for the Cardinals...and for ASU back in the 90's. Has a ton of DB coaching experience, but little coordinator experience. ASU also considering Antonio Pierce for LB coach.

I think hiring older coordinators is the most likely way to keep them long term.

I don't think so... I think you have to go with the best you can get your hands on, regardless of age. Look, do you think ASU is the only school that deals with this? Coaching, both at the Pro and College level, is nothing but a fast-paced carousel. What ASU has to contend with, is also being fought at every other major NCAA school...It's the nature of the beast and if you can somehow get lucky and get a nice 3 or 4 year run with the same OC and/or DC, you're doing pretty damn well...

Man I think you guys are being way too dramatic... it's cheap and it's very simple to bash Anderson over what has transpired with the football team.
At the end of last season, many who are now claiming their allegiance to CTG or that it would've been "better" to keep him rather than pay the $12 million to let him go, were all screaming to fire his ass then...
Ray is the Athletic Director and aside from what has gone down with the football program (which I don't believe is nearly as catastrophic as so many make it out to be), what is there to bitch about?? If you bring up the baseball program - what the hell to Ray inherit?? C'mon man... at least try to be honest.

With regard to the football program - it is WAY too early to assess the events that have unfolded. If ASU fails to land an impressive recruitment class... and/or, if the team fails next season... then sure, all bets are off and Ray should absolutely be torched. But at this point? Don't be like a lazy-ass Gambo and others who literally go into full-blown meltdown mode at the very first sniff of smoke... There is no fire yet. None. Let the recruitment process unfold. Let's see who Herm brings in as the DC and other coaches... and let's see what transpires on the field next season - a season that, based upon the schedule will certainly be a massive challenge from start to finish!
Haha! ALL IS FINE! ALL IS FINE! The Titanic is invincible!

Man look at the evidence around you. Anderson’s goals have already suffered abject failure.

Let’s view goals:

Continuity - None

Keep offensive coordinator for Wilkins - fail

Keep defensive coordinator - fail

Sign TT’s d coordinator as fall back - fail

Maintain recruiting class - four (or more) decommits

Attempting change the age-old process - public ridicule for immediate failures

I’m a fan of evidence-based examination. Thus far, all the evidence regarding goals has been failure. There’s literally not one piece of evidence that points to a win thus far. I understand the DESIREfor success but when you say it’s way too early to assess what’s occurred thus far it just paints an unabashed apologists. We certainly CAN assess the failure to achieve goals. Because that’s exactly what’s occurred.

People were joking on the radio that we will wind up with Tedy Bruschi and Brock Huard as our new coordinators. I'm not so sure that "joke" is going to be all that far from the truth.

Well... I think the Likens promotion to OC is solid. He was the co-offensive coordinate and WR coach last season. It's the defensive coordinator spot that needs to be addressed ASAP.

Dude - you're no better than Gambo...or Bickley... Guys who see the simple, easy shot to take and then pounce. Whatever...

Wilkins will be fine under Likens, who was the co-Offensive Coordinator last season. Anything else you toss out is, again, lazy-ass drivel. When it comes to recruiting success or failure, it's impossible to make any determinations until recruiting season is over... and even then, I'm willing to give Herm & Co the 2019 recruiting season to truly measure their effectiveness. Same for making any assessment about the structural changes of the program and how that might make the team more consistently competitive. Next season was going to be extremely challenging even had Graham stayed. The schedule is a bitch...and lump on all of the changes the program is going through, it would be one heckuva job if the team were to put up 8 wins next year. The 2019 season, for me, will be the key indicator as to where the program sits and where it is heading...
Until then - feel free to mirror the lazy, pandering talk-show hosts who are truly hacks and will do anything for ratings. As for me, since I'm somone who respects people in authority who are willing to blow-up the status quo and have the balls to innovate & change, I will continue to give Ray the amount of benefit-of-the-doubt he is due...

Great job of hoping and wishing!

At least I’m pointing out things THAT HAVE ACTUALLY HAPPENED. But you keep that pie in sky attitude. I hope you’re right but so far literally every indicator points in the opposite direction.

And btw I live outta state so I don’t hear/read gambo/Bickley, so I know it’s a shock to your system, but based on WHAT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENED, I was able to come to my own conclusions. If they happen to be reflected by people who make a living in the sports world, that’s beyond my control.

I heard something on the radio this weekend about Marvin Lewis and Herm being good friends and that Herm might ask Marvin to come in for a year as DC is he is fired in Cincinnati. Then, the next day Lewis announces he is not returning. That would be an interesting hire, but doubt it will happen.

Come in for a year as DC? What?!? That’s a GREAT idea . . . said nobody.

Until it happens, then 82 will call it brilliant.

A win is a win. But we beat out soMiss and Louisiana Tech. Not exactly outrecruiting the heavy hitters.

He had previously committed to UCLA and LSU, and is considered the top High School Senior RB in the state of Louisiana... I’ll take it! [emoji106]

Doesn’t the step down from UCLAand LSU to SoMiss and Louisiana Tech raise a red flag to you? At the very least it’s a curious set of facts.

Supposedly was due to an injury, and also academic concerns. Hopefully those issues have been rectified.

He's the #1 RB talent in a state that produces top-tier RB's as if they're made on an assembly line in Shreveport... He put up over 2,000 yards and 32 TD's his senior season. And if he doesn't make the cut with regard to behavioral crap, I have no doubt that Herm will not tolerate it for a second and he'll be gone... On the flip-side, there is always the chance that Herm can transform the kid if in fact, there are serious behavioral/character issues...
