I would love to have a "longer" Shawn Marion (say 6'11" or 7') play center for the Suns. He would be better than Shaq in his prime.

sounds like KG fits part of that description.

Of the players in the NBA today Camby is the best fit for a Suns center.

He can shoot and block shots. He is strong in the post and he can run the floor (when he can stay on the floor).

Of course acquiring him is slightly more likely than acquiring Dirk. It ain't going to happen.

What about Fry? He has a nice outside jumper and can run the floor like a 4 and defend like a 5. Bosh would be great also but that is a pipe dream. At least with Isiah in NY we have a chance to get a good trade.

I love Bosh's game, but I continue to be troubled by anyone who think he's a legit center on a winning team. The guy weighs 210 lbs.

I also think y'all are thinking too defensively. The perfect center for the Suns (at least among existing real players) is probably not as athletic as you'd like, but can play the high post on offense and doesn't get bullied down low on defense.

Among all the current players, ironically, Diaw and KT are dang close to "as good as it gets."

Marcus Camby would be great, but he's injury prone. Like I said, I'll have to watch Nowitzki more closely over the next couple games, but my overall impression was that it had gone from god awful to about average.

Camby is listed at 6-11, 230 pounds. Noah was listed this season at 6-11, 227 pounds. Yes, I realize Noah needs to get stronger in order to battle guys like Tim Duncan and Elton brand, but guess what. These guys push around nearly everybody in the NBA. They score against anybody in the NBA. The nice thing about Noah is that he's long enough, athletic enough, and smart enough to alter/block shots. He would be great running with this team as well.

the ideal C for the Suns isn't even in college yet let alone the NBA, HS Junior Kevin Love of Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Yes, Garnett would probably be the perfect fit.

With Amare's future in limbo, I can see the Suns pushing hard to sign extensions for Diaw and Barbosa, trying to sign TT, and moving KT for salary reasons and that he does not fit Phoenix's style.

Actually I see the Suns trying to get quicker and bigger with the addition of a speedy PG and a 4/5 (or the Suns version of that) that fits their scheme.

I do have regrets that the Suns did not make a stronger push to get more help upfront when it was available... Wilcox (I think he could have been had for James Jones and a first round pick or two) and he could have been insurance if Amare doesn't recover; signing FA Marcus Fizer when he was availabe out of the NBADL; or getting Steven Hunter back (see Diop with Mavs).

It would have been good to have another frontline player. In regard to Fizer, there was not much downside. If he had an attitude just release him and lose a relatively small amount of money.

Even if just renting Wilcox before going into free agency could have won the Suns a Championship, it would have been worth it. I don't think he can be pryed out of Seattle now or will cost too much.

I like Noah as a project, post Nash years, though I differ on his athleticism, which is nowhere near that of Camby who may be the best shot blocker in the NBA, if (and a BIG if) healthy. Noah is probably going to be a good NBA center, though watching Randy Foy(6'3") shoot over him in the lane in the NCAA's made me a skeptic of his shot blocking as an NBA center. He's smart, athletic(read: he can run) for a big guy, but his obvious lack of hops(for a 227 lb guy!!) puts him in a different category than Camby.

Dwight Howard, hands down is the next dominate big man in this league. Sat courtside at an Orlando game this year and the kid is just a beast and only going to getting bigger and better. I would take him over Bosh or KG any day of the week. I still think Amare if healthy is the best, but thats a big if and Dwight Howard is a very close second to a healthy Amare and better than a less than 100% Amare...

Absolutely!

I would trade Marion/Barbosa/#21 for Howard in a heartbeat! I'd also do that trade for Garnett....

Nash/Bell/Diaw/Stoudemire/Howard

Ugh!

Marion/Barbosa/#21/Vujanic for Howard/Battie/Arroyo works and makes us HUGE up front and gives us a good backup for Nash....

Back in the day, Dan Issel would have fit this team to a T! Shot blocker, tough hard nose defense and rebounding. Then the guy could literally shoot 30 foot jumpers all game long! He'd be one of the three point leaders in the NBA under the current Suns system. In his ABA days, Issel the Missle would just cause opposing centers fits with all his outside sharp shooting, then drives to the basket. Think Tim Thomas, with better defense, and more of a Larry Bird type jumper! :)
