I'll tell you what, If this forum is dead, then count me as a zombie. For the last 10-12 years, I've been coming here for the best Cardinals news and discussion...probably more than that.

In the 70's and 80's I could've added much more to the discussion but these days I just watch the games, cheer my Cards; and occasionally, say something brilliant that you younger guys can't grasp :p.

I love company men (Cheese) and the opposite (Darkside). I've spent hundreds of hours on other team's boards and none of them come close to this site.

Rock on ASFN!

P.S. I know Cheese isn't a company man, I just needed someone to compare Darkside to.

Success has hurt places where fans go to find solace hard. No ones panicking after this loss, so no ones here freaking out. No ones hung huge hopes on a draft pick, so there's no pumping them up/worrying about them.

If this season goes south, this board will have people on it moaning/counter-moaning.

For me, I have three kids under 6 now, and I put more effort into my weekly columns with the time I have. I think all of us understand that this season is a prelude to the playoffs. Until the playoffs start, or were on the verge of missing them, it's going to be quiet-nervous.

Three kids under 6? I guess we need to have the "talk" so you know what is causing it. :)

Seriously, you are heading into the best time of your life. Enjoy and savor every minute. Family is everything.

I'm thinking we need to put this together as maybe a once per year type of thing. I have thought about that a lot recently actually.

The get together that Jersey Girl put together the night before the NLC championship game with the eagles was a blast. I met so many people that I had never met before. There was so many of us we had our own section, and it was outdoors on the patio, A news crew even showed up.

Random Stuff From the Old Guy...

- Problem with Twitter is its max character limit - It forces postings to be more extreme (because there's no room for qualification/nuance).

- NFL Network has morphed into a "Top 50"/ "Best Of" / "Fantasy" channel.

Doncha sometimes feel that former players who do the FOX and CBS game-coverage (i.e. Aikman, Moose Johnson, Spielmann etc.) have a conscious or unconscious built-in bias against the Cardinals ?

- A common trap for us fans to fall into is the "I can predict the future better than you can" syndrome. (Who's gonna win? By how many points? Which games will we win/lose? By how much? Who'll win the division)? I'm wrong so much of the time that I find myself happy to just let the games be played and the future play itself out, whatever the outcome.

- If you want to log onto Facebook or other social media sites, you have to provide the story of your life, and therefore lay yourself open to Personal ID theft. Sometimes I'll get to the brink of signing on to a service, but then they'll ask me for info I don't want to share, and I'll back my way out.

- ROTB and other Cardinal forums fill their pages with so much ad content that waiting for a page to load is like watching grass grow.

- Because I'm an out-of-towner, more and more, I find myself looking forward to AV content like Cardinals Underground, Big Red Rage, BA's pressers and Calvisi's daily updates on the official Cards site.

- This board is simple and easy to use, and - (from a perspective of being away for a number of years) it's pretty clear that ASFN has become more than just a forum; it's become a tight, real world "family", where many members interact off-line.

I'm new to the board been here since March. I read a lot and enjoy it.

I'm not one to name drop but for the most part there are some very knowledgable fans. Here in my part of the country it's all Cards baseball and Cardinal football is getting respect now but it is what it is because of the move and the Rams making an exit as well.

Thank you all for taking in my Cards as the stadium is full since '06 and appreciate everyone.

Is the board dead? Not from these blue eyes.

Not that I posted here all that frequently in the vBulletin days, I just have to admit that I don't like the color scheme and new board layout as much as the old school version. It's pretty arbitrary, but the truth.

:stick::stick::stick:

Why did you have to do that? Don't you know it's never happened in Cardinals history :trout:

Hey, don't give me those squiggly, creepy stick guys. My post connotes only awesomeness and positivity. Let the old days go, Bucky and get on board the Redneck Voodoo Love Train. :D

I think that was the last one that we have put together too.

I don't have time to check all the other sites, so I come here to see what's been posted on twitter/facebook/espn/nfl network/pro football focus/outsiders/insiders, etc, etc, etc, etc...

It used to be fun to read the other team's newspaper whenever the "old" Cards managed to win a game. Coaches would sometimes get fired! Now it's like ... blah, Cards are expected to win, lol

Trust me, but this forum isn't dead or even dying. Its grown since we took over. Yeah, the posts aren't coming in like hot cakes, but like someone said before, when the team is doing well, there is nothing to post/complain about. Just look at the P&R section. Its always active because there is always something to complain about there. ;)

Yeah, this thread in itself is proof---well over 4,000 views and 146 comments---the board is alive and kicking, my friends!

Any site is only as good as its Polls. This site needs more polls, as well as more Selfies. The younger generation demands both. Us old folds have to become more hip to the next adult generation's jive.

I'm still waiting to find out what "company man" means!

I got this. I was was watching this movie, see. It was called "Western Union" from like 1941, on how these western dudes (and dudettes) do stuff to satisfy the majority enough while they are only doing it as a ploy for public relations to benefit the company which was Western Union, Fells Fargo, or Buck and Jerry's saloon, or Ruby's ***** House or whatever the business trying to forge ahead with any deceit they can get away with while still appearing to be on the up and up till some guy comes along to be the hero by seeing past their schemes and break up the monopoly but then in reality only becomes a company man in the end too... that I think is kinda sorta like a 'company man' which is kinda sorta like being called a 'boy scout' but with a really more important financial den

Nah, a company man is that guy in the song that can't go see Saint Peter because he owes his soul to the company store. Cheese is screwed.
