I never said a word about that.

Emmitt's not gonna fill that stadium and the team is delusional if they think it will.

It's odd that you have so much faith in Shipp carrying the ball 350 times without getting hurt given that he got hurt twice last year in shared time with Jones.

And the idea that we have adequate backups is what keeps this franchise a loser. The longer you sit around convincing yourself that castoffs, waiver guys, and UDFAs are good enough rather than going and getting proven veteran depth and/or talent, the longer we will flounder.

Charlie Garner gets hurt, oakland had Wheatley (1000 yard rusher) and Kirby (long time starter) behind him. That's what winning teams do, they don't sit there and delude themselves into thinking Travis Prentice isn't crap.

Finally someone I agree with...

....personally, I think Shane H nailed this one on the head. Just a week ago, Emmitt was quoted as saying he thinks he is still a 1,300 yard RB. If that is the way he feels, then what is to prevent him from becoming a locker-room cancer when he touches the ball 5-7 times a game??

Could Emmitt help teach some of our younger backs the nuances of the NFL game - Of Course he could! But would he truly be happy and content in that role - it certainly does not seem like it at this stage.

If Emmitt's attitude becomes that of the wily, cagey veteran who would primarily be a mentor and occasionally handle the ball - then I'm all for the move to sign him. However, it seems to me that he is looking for a larger role - and on this team, SHIPP is the man, period!

Just what kind of contract are we talking about for Emmitt?

If Stephan Davis just set a bar in Emmitt's eyes, he may be a good pickup if we get him cheaper.

Davis: five-year contract worth $15.5 million. $2.5 million signing bonus. With incentives, the value of the contract could exceed $35 million.

I'm kind of on the fence on the whole Emmitt issue. I would kill to have the Emmitt of five years ago. Seeing that doctored photo of him in a Cards uniform was eerie in a good way...

In my opinion though, he has no gas left in his tank. I see the possitive effects he could have on our RB's as that of a coach. With that, I would only sign him as one (no disrepect to Johnny Roland, but Emmitt is the all-time rushing leader).

Teams also stay perennial losers by signing older washed up player they dont need to contracts that eat up cap space that could have been used at a position of need.

Do you deny the fact that Emmitt bitched and moaned about his carry count last year? Do you pull the blinders down and think that he wouldnt cause that same type of distraction here?

Say what you will but signing this guy just because his name is Emmitt Smith is flat out wrong!

Oh and Shipp was hurt once last year with the knee sprain. He even played through it for two games What other injury would you be referring to??

I reserve the right to boo every carry.

I've heard reports that Emmitt has a 2 million per year broadcast job waiting for him, so he's not going to be cheap. Tampa Bay is also interested, Pittman is what he is, and the Buc's just won the Super Bowl. Where is Emmitt from, anyway?

I think we're being used.

Lex, you're dead on. The problem with Tampa is they don't have the cash to sign him at the moment.

No, I think he should be signed because he's run for 1000 yards 11 times.

I didn't say pay him a ton or anything. I don't expect them to break the bank for the guy.

Wow, I was football-smart back then too. :D

OMG I totally forgot about Tango. Whatever happened to him? Did he get a perma-ban?
You know Thesmel reminds me of Tango a little bit
