You must be getting paid by Verizon to sing their praises across bulletin boards, LoL.
Obviously some people are unhappy with them, some are not.
Obviously some people are unhappy with them, some are not.
This is completely false. CDMA has twice the tower capacity of GSM. The reason you have less towers in an area is due ONLY to this fact.Verizon choose to go broad and shallow, so even in areas that coverage is listed, you will still get dropped calls or busy signals when trying to dial, due to inadequate cell availability.
AT&T offers cheaper plans. Verizon is the Cadillac while AT&T is the Honda. Which cars do you see more of on the road?
J.D. Power and Associates just ranked VZW highest in call quality in the Northeast (New York and New England) and Mid-Atlantic (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, DC, and Virginia) for the 10th consecutive reporting period. And it's an even longer run in the West & Midwest.
o First Place in Download Speed - Verizon Wireless - Wired.com (July 10, 2009) posted the results of an interactive 3G speed survey conducted in May that attracted 12,000 valid, usable responses. Verizon Wireless came in first place with an average download speed of 1,940 Kbps. According to the article, “In dead last was AT&T with an average of 901 Kbps.”
o “Fast And Consistent” 3G Service - PCWorld.com (June 28, 2009) tested the major 3G services across the United States and reported Verizon Wireless had the fastest download speeds in seven of the 13 test markets, more than any other carrier. In terms of reliability, VZW beat AT&T in 12 of the 13 markets and tied with them in the remaining one.
I like my paycheck... yes.
Still.... I could care less about my opinions. I am only stating the raw unedited details. Seriously... I have only given you the opinions of outsiders, and the ratings of third-parties that are completely unbiased. Everyone else seems to want to share their feelings and emotions.
If you logically look, from the outside. You cannot say that vzw isn't the better choice. You just cant. If you take your personal feelings into account, THAT is where you begin to make fool hearty choices.
I worked for AT&T for 7 years. VZW for 2. I have a bit of knowledge in this area. From all sides of the equation.
Some of us actually can. Some of us have multiple services and historical experiences with these companies. I can honestly say that Verizon has had some of the worst customer service I have EVER experienced with a carrier. The only reason I still have them is because my company has a contract with them.
Obviously, my personal cell phone choice is different and the reason why I have a different carrier. You can spout all you want about coverage, net access blah blah blah. However, it's not that cut and dry.
Cell phones are about personal choices, features you like on phones, designs of the phones and ultimately your EXPERIENCE with that carrier. When you add those things to the equation Verizon is not the clear cut choice. That's a fact.
Here is another fact, in the history of consumer electronics, the superior product doesn't always win out. Consumer electronics has never been about one feature (coverage area for example or data rates) and has always been about personal choice, price and and the overall package (design, feature set, color, customer experience etc...). All your pimping of Verizon won't change that nor should it.
If you logically look, from the outside. You cannot say that vzw isn't the better choice. You just cant. If you take your personal feelings into account, THAT is where you begin to make fool hearty choices.
Unfortunately you failed to highlight the most important part of that statement.
Face it... You like your phone... It doesn't matter what company had it. VZW, AT&T, Alltel, Sprint, T-Mobile, Tracphone, Boost, whatever. If were on AT&T and it became an exclusive of VZW you would switch faster than it takes John Force to finish his races.
3. Sprint Nextel
Sprint Nextel is bleeding customers, and could lose as many as 4.4 million net post-paid subscribers this year.
This is a huge problem when you have large amounts of maturing debt over the next few years.
A recent Deutsche Telekom acquisition rumor offered some hope, but that appears to have faded. Facing a difficult road ahead on its own, the company better keep its lawyers on speed-dial.

I'm telling you Steel Dog..... You have a 50-50 shot of becoming a VZW customer in the next 3 years.
Then we will make you change your plan and piss you off because the plan your on wasn't a good business decision when Sprint gave it to you.

I meant the impending doom of a cdma to cdma purchase. I can't fathom that VZW wouldn't want the nextel business customer base. Even if it brought to the the crappiest customer base known to man....
Legacy Sprint Customers.
Highest past due balance ration in the industry
Highest amount of unpaid debt in the industry
Highest customer call in rate in the business
Highest churn rate in the business
Lowest High Tier price plan percentage in the business
Highest amount of customers with a credit rating requiring a deposit (back when anyone could get on for $125)
But someone has to love them..... Might as well be the company with the highest customer satisfaction ratings (3rd party rankings!!!) in the industry.
Read an article the other day, will try to find it.
Basic jist of it was while Verizon has the largest network, they have the WORST PHONE. Their phone lineup is years behind every major competitor. They have NOTHING in the pipeline to compete with the iPhone, Android, or even the new Pre.
And don't say the Storm, because that phone sucks.
It is getting better, but still two-three generations behind the competitors.
