Sure he saved his job. For one week. If they would have lost to the Niners, particularly if it were as ugly as previous games (and arguably other than the 4th quarter, this game was JUST as bad) - then I think he would have been gone over the bye week. So he prevented that, but only delayed the inevitable. He'll either get canned in the offseason, or they REALLY stink it up for the rest of the season, perhaps sooner. The guy is an absolute train wreck and NOT ready for the job.

Will he be the next AJ Hinch, and find success elsewhere later? Maybe. But in the here and now, he's awful, with no light visible at the end of the tunnel.

Please don't compare this situation to the Whiz one. Whiz took us to the Super Bowl & deep into the playoffs the following year. Wilks couldn't get us to 5 wins if he stayed here 20 years. Let's hope KC puts up 70 against us & Rosen stays healthy. We have 2 wins against the Niners, big deal!! By season's end, this team will likely be 3-13 at best. To get rid of Wilks, I hope it's 2-14. It would definitely not be the Cardinal way to fire an HC after 1 season, but in this case, they need to. Will they? Probably not. Michael will wait until they're 1-7 next year & then pull the plug. Of course, by then, we'll have 25,000 fans in the stadium & they'll all be rooting for the visiting team.
Whiz is doing great things with the Chargers these days too. Wilks will be a backs coach if he’s lucky.

Whiz’s tenure ended on a negative note, but he’s 10x the coach Wilks is

Please!!!! Credibility - get REAL

The Cardinals went three and one half quarter with only scoring 3 point total. They were playing the ONLY team they'd beaten and a team with only 1 win of 7.
Any and I mean ANY celebration of this 'victory' is a sham! This is the NFL, you're either going for the Championship or your going for nothing.
So I ask you? Do the Cardinals look like they're going for a Championship?
If your answer is no, you got nothing to celebrate, be proud of or be happy about.
The only people happy about the win are the same people who think everyone should get a trophy for participating...and there's no such thing as losing...to them it's....'No, you didn't lose...you just didn't win...and that's okay.'
I'm not a 2nd place is the first loser kind of thinker, but this team is pathetic to watch...the offense is bad, the defense is bad and special teams is okay.
They are gonna get KILLED by Kansas City and likely to lose all but 1 or 2 more games...making them 3-13.
Pop the cap and have fun with that if it makes you happy....to me the team is pathetic and almost impossible to watch.

I'm not feeling Wilks is the guy, but time will tell...right now he's the captain of a ship that's crashed 6 times and gotten to port twice.

Maybe, but I think Rosen, Kirk, maybe Fitz, and a top draft pick keeps the fires burning through the offseason.

Just some upwards regression from David Johnson will make a huge difference too. The fans here got excited for Sam Bradford, Steve Wilks and his painted bricks.

You see those bricks ?

I think Wilks has a long way to go yet on saving his job. He needs a minimum of four more wins and the team looking good and being competitive the rest of the season.

Wilks will be here next year even if we get dismantled every Sunday.

I don't see him leaving after one year, I wish he would be gone already.

I have a feeling this thread will die after KC treats us like their practice squad.

I will be furious if Wilks is our HC next year. I've been out on him for a long time.

Uh, no. Beating the hapless 49ers twice, standing alone, is not enough to save his job. The GM will have to believe he still has the team and that it's moving in the right direction.

It is going to have to get a lot worse for Wilks to be fired at the end of the season regardless of my opinion on the matter.

The games against the Lions, Falcons, and Seahawks will be what determines if he stays or goes IMO.

Rookie QB, totally new staff, new Offense and new Defense. The offense was too complicated with M McCoy. I think the Cardinals will continue to improve. Draft needs will come to light. I think its a bigger year for GM S Keim than for HC S wilks

What’s complicated about run up the middle on first down, throw for a loss on second down, and throw for 3 yards on a 3rd and long?

Well I see a rookie QB an oc that pulled a rabbit out of their hat in the 4th quarter of a divisional rival and the only team worse than us!

Pump your brakes, slow your roll, check yourself - Wilkes has not shown anything that looks like competence as an NFL HC. Rosen has one good quarter in the hurry up. Again against the 1-7 whiners.

If Wilks was truly Bidwill’s favorite then he’s not getting fired after the season no matter how bad we look.

Michael B is a patient man - I don't see Wilks getting fired. Unless the commits the most grievous of sins - losing the locker room.

FWIW, Kent Somers thinks Wilks still has locker room.
He probably knows better than I do. I feel like I see it in the players. How they play. Even the best ones will do things that they want to do vs doing their job because they don't believe in the structure. Not one thing that Wilks has done has worked out. Even firing McCoy was firing the guy Wilks "hired". So, he was correcting his own mistake. That mistake made a team captain and leader in Larry Fitzgerald irrelevant. His scheme takes prestige away from his best defensive back and then puts pressure on other players to cover the best opposing players. If he hasn't lost the locker-room, he soon will. It is just a matter of time because it doesn't seem like Wilks brings any answers to the table.

Wilks brings bricks to locker room. Is that not good enough for you?

56 seconds into today's game and this is already the funniest thread in board history.

Buckle up boys... we might set all-time points-against records today!
