Will Kendrick Perkins be suspended for Game 5?

Coming from a Spurs fan, I really think this is a joke. I can understand Williams and Perkins not getting suspended, and the term general vicinity was written in the rule for exactly this reason (See Ewing suspension), but for Garnett not to get suspended is absurd, the man actively shoved a referee AFTER he looked at him, and every and any player who intiated contact with a ref should be ejected and suspended for one game. It has been this way for ages.

Absolutely no reason to have Garnett on the floor the next game.

Sure their is a reason Garnett is on the floor, because Stern wants him to be as well as the Celtics to advance. You think they would get any ratings with the Atlanta Hawks haha not a chance. I hope they get a freakin Atlanta / Spurs final that would serve the NBA right a no ratings finals.

Hornets/Atlanta would be worse. I don't know if anyone would watch that. The NBA is pathetic. They should have strict guidelines, once you come off the bench its a suspension. Or is it only for the purple guys.

Yes he is. I'm not a Hornets fan and I find his post insulting. I guess since it's been 3 years it's o.k. to make fun of a city that lost hundreds in a natural disaster? Thousands upon thousands are homeless and penniless still. Half the city is vacant buildings. His post was callous and in poor poor taste.

I am sorry if you are offended.

My comment was really an indictment of how the media (and a good portion of the NBA runs on the media) beats things to death. In response to a comment about no one watching a Hornets/Hawks matchup, my point was that people will be manipulated into being interested in the series when the NBA media machine pulls out all the old footage. In essence, using the catastrophe to add drama to a sporting event. THAT is insulting.

just saying other "objective" people see it completely different than you do. that's what it has to do with it.

Just now on Inside the NBA, Kenny and EJ seeing it as I did, and Barkley taking your position.

I would consider that a victory for my opinion! :D

No animosity intended....

I'm still completely in shock that the league office ruled that there wasn't an altercation there. Multiple techs, shoving of the ref, but no..no altercation.

It was ten times the altercation of the Suns/Spurs last year and ZaZa had his freaking head into KGs and said (and I lipreadquote "I'll fu.. you up") and KG says "get the ef off me" to the ref he shoves.

But no, that wasn't an altercation.

Wild.

And for the record, I see the Perkins thing the same way as cobbler, but I also thought Diaw got a bum deal in the suspension last year, and thought Amare was deserving.

Unbelievable the NBA hasn't taken action. I thought the rule wasn't able to be bent. If you step on the court, then bang you're gone.

By JIMMY GOLEN, AP Sports Writer Apr 29, 7:33 pm EDT

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP)—The incident in the second quarter of Atlanta’s 97-92 victory on Monday night began when Garnett cleared out Zaza Pachulia with an elbow, and the Hawks forward went forehead-to-forehead with the Celtics star.
Referee Ed Rush grabbed Garnett, but he, too, got a push as Garnett struggled to break free. “The referee grabbed me,” Garnett said.
“In the heat of the battle like that, you never know what’s going on,” said Hawks forward Marvin Williams, who also escaped discipline. “You never know who’s grabbing you. I’m sure he had no intention of hurting anybody. He just plays hard. It got pretty emotional out there.”
Williams and Celtics center Kendrick Perkins both admitted stepping onto the floor to see what was happening—a no-no in the NBA (Wasn't that what Amare and Diaw were doing?), especially with commissioner David Stern in the crowd. But they were not punished under the rule designed to keep incidents from escalating into bench-clearing brawls.
“Technically, I broke the rule,” Williams said. “But I had no intentions of doing anything on the court. I was just trying to see what was going on.”
Said Perkins: “I didn’t realize it until I watched the tape.”
Hawks coach Mike Woodson said his team would have struggled to replace Williams. While the NBA-best Celtics have a deep bench, Atlanta has a more precipitous drop-off once Woodson gets out of his regular rotation.
“I don’t want to lose anybody,” the coach said. “I can’t combat their team because they are a lot deeper than our team. I want to go to war with all my guys.”

Im not going to get all in the perkins/williams argument again, but i am astonished that KG didnt get a suspension for shoving the ref. To me, that is the more blatant omission.

If I were a Lakers fan I'd be upset at Kidd not being suspended too. Is that a natural basketball motion? How he escaped judgement is beyond me (I guess the flagrant 2 was deemed enough)

No argument, i totally agree kidd should have been suspended. Not sure how that helps the Lakers though.

Ohhhhhhhhhh duh, you must be referring to Kobe's non basketball motion suspensions last year.

Good call.
