I’ve been thinking the same. Every now and again mix in a big game running to remind defenses of what could come your way. The more doubt you can create in defenders’ minds the more they hesitate. That additional half second could mean all the difference in winning a game.
Understandable, but this WR core/Maxx/Chase, he really doesn’t have to.

I believe he ran more than he wanted to last year because Larry, Andy, & KeeSean were easily getting blanketed while Hop would often get doubled. Not even mentioning the amount of time in the pocket now since the IOL isn’t getting pushed back anymore.

I was shocked at how much time Murray had last week at times.

It’s Baker’s left shoulder and they’ll be ready coming off a loss to the Chargers. I’d happily take 2-1 over the next three.
Yea but he's still not as accurate as he was before (close to 80% through 1st 2 weeks I believe)

Maybe the Browns just run it down our throat so he might not be as depended on. However, I think we can pull the upset if the weather isnt too bad (it can get windy)

With NDSU’s season being cancelled last year Lance hasn’t started a game in nearly 20 months. Shanahan knows he’s not ready and nobody really knows at the time of the trade-up if their intention was to draft him. I think Shanahan is better than his record suggests but there’s some weirdness going on with HC/GM dynamic, injuries and personal decisions (Aiyuk is healthy and not playing)?

They named Lance the starter which makes you suspect Jimmy gave it a go today and reported he can't go Sunday.

Will be interesting you normally blitz the heck out of rookie QB's but with a dinged up secondary and how good a runner Lance is I suspect we'll just try and keep him in the pocket and pressure him into bad throws

I find it hard to gripe over 5th WRs. 5th CB? Sure I will since those guys usually end up playing.
AJ/Moore/Kirk's recent injury history is why it was a concern for me and plus he was great on special teams.

OT, but I wish they kept Andy active (or thought he was good enough) on gamedays. I still rather have a speed guy ready to go.

49ers pass rush > Rams pass rush imo.

I was surprised at how Russell Wilson had so much time yesterday. Normally the Rams make it hard for him to move the ball.
Did we watch the same game?

Donald(of course), Floyd, & Lewis were getting back there at will. Made Russell look like the 3rd best QB in that game last night.

Agreed. But there’s a big difference between what he’s done this year running verses last year. He can spring a big running game on a team here and there and still not come anywhere close to last years rushing attempts/totals.

I think Kyler is running about where he should. Maybe if the passing game isn't going he'll need to take off a bit more, but I think 20-30 yards per game is the sweet spot.

49ers have a faster front 7 than LA, but of course, they don’t have anyone close to a Ramsey back there. Expecting a huge Nuk game.

Also, Donald/Floyd >>> Bosa/Ford.

Donald is by far the best DL in the league and it's not even close. He looked very ordinary against the Cardinals though, and I saw a number of instances where he was single blocked and he made nothing happen.

Also I think the rover back position they are using Ramsey at limits his effectiveness.

I'd rather completely shutdown a top receiver than have him roving the middle of the field.

One of the biggest factors they won last time. Dont have to worry about him this time around.

“If he wants to get out of the pocket, he’s going to get out of the pocket whether he retreats back 10 yards,” he told reporters Thursday. “I think guys throw that out, where keeping him in the pocket. Well, this guy’s elusive enough. He’s probably the fastest guy on the field. So, if he wants to get out, he’s going to get out.”

We see that regularly. Even when he is not pressured, he moves to create time, to allow routes to develop down the field and also perhaps to increase his field vision.

Ryan noted Murray isn’t moving to try and run this season. But that is where a slight change in the offensive game plan could lead to big rushing numbers from Murray.

“When you see quarterbacks break out of the pocket, your natural reaction is the guys running with the ball, so I have to go up and get him,” Ryans explained. “But you have to understand, with Kyler, what’s been our main focus all week is talking about plastering and coverage because he’s not escaping to run per se. He’s escaping to hit the big explosive play, so our guys have to be disciplined, stay back in coverage and we’ll come up after he crosses the line of scrimmage.”

I still believe this is a game where Kyler is going to have run quite a bit

A few good runs and the discipline Ryans is calling for goes out the window.

yep that's where I am. Kyler told us this in camp I don't want to HAVE to run I want to be able to get it done in the pocket etc.

he's improved in the pocket to me the big jump this year is throwing on the run outside the pocket or when he steps up. The comments from the 49ers DC that's true this year, not true the last 2 years with exceptions, like the Hail Murray, he wasn't that good thowing on the run and mostly only to his left, this year he's been really good going to his right on the run.

The less hits he takes the better
