this game will really tell us how focused and ready for primetime this team is. This is a TOTAL trap game, especially if we're facing a rookie in his first start. Flying high off the route of the Rams, breaking that streak, all the media jumping on our bandwagon... a legit playoff contender comes out and wins this game, whatever it takes, close or blowout. A pretender starts thinking their ish don't stink and craps the bed against an opponent they SHOULD beat.

can't wait for Sunday.

man... football season is so much better when the Cardinals as good.
Meh. We aren't going to go undefeated. If it is Lance's first start and we lose, that is bad. If Jimmy comes out, executes and beats us in a close game, that happens.

Hence why I said ESPECIALLY if Lance starts...

Totally agree. No different than the Rams beating up on the Bucs then the Cards slap them silly.
The scenario is the same. This is a huge game. Home field and a division rival.

Rookie in his first start?
4-0 team coming home to play a desperate in-division rival?
Home team will be the road team in this game......

TRAP GAME!!!

Come out an show everyone that the Rams game wasn’t a fluke and we didn’t catch them coming off the emotional Bucs game. Now we are the hunted and need to expect everyone’s best shot

Forgot about those early 2000’s Raider offenses. Rich Gannon was an underrated freak talent:

xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
it was the gruden offense... Gannon was barely a journeyman before he got with gruden... that west coast offense turned him into a star.
when the raiders sold Gruden to the bucs...hiring callahan was a mistake...dude didnt change the offense... then barrett robbins went on a bipolar binge in TJ and lost his playbook.... mic'd up had the tampa linebackers laughing about the raiders offense running the exact same plays they ran in practice...
the raiders put robbins on a plane home the morning of the super bowl and played the game without their pro bowl center

I had forgot about Barret Robbins. They’re lucky social media wasn’t around back then.

Jimmy Garoppolo "has a chance" to play for #49ers Sunday at Arizona. Shanahan: "It wasn’t as bad as we thought it might have been. Today he’s in a lot of pain and still sore. Wednesday if it’s getter better, he has a good chance."

I'll be surprised if he plays and if he does if he can play the whole game. We've seen QB's with broken legs do it against us but a calf injury there's not much they can do but give him a painkiller. taping a calf doesn't work the way it does with an ankle.

My guess is he'll try to play but if he does, he won't make it through the game.

I really don't mind if he does play. I kind of prefer it. He's a know quantity we have contained before and he's not a great QB.

While Lance is super raw he's an unknown quantity.

The next step for the Cardinals is to show that as a team they have the leadership and maturity to handle being the favorite every week. It takes a different mentality to perform when you are "the hunted" as opposed to being "the hunter." Now that the Cardinals are ranked number one in some polls every team will be highly motivated when they play the Cardinals. No chance to sneak up on anyone or catch a team sleeping on them.

I see both sides.

Jimmy has destroyed Vance in the past. 8 tds in 2019. And probably beats us to open the year last year if he's throwing to Deebo Samuel instead of Trent Taylor.

Its like McVay with Goff it forces Shanahan to use lots of misdirection and play action. Things that gives Vance trouble.

However, Lance could totally crap the bed. Although there is a fear Shanahan dusts off the RG3 rookie year playbook and gash us running the ball.

This isnt an easy win at all. Likely a one score game either way. Think we pull it off though.

i think the Garapolo "might play" is a smoke screen to make the Cards prep for two different game plans

that being said: Shanahan is no question prepping the same game plan as last years SF2 game: run, run, misdirection run and then play action off of that kinda game.

Cowboys game of the week over undefeated Cardinals and a 2-2 Niners potentially starting a top 3 draft pick QB?

If we didn’t get game of the week against the Rams both 3-0 them being the media darlings all week? We def aren’t gonna be this week.

Niners have their bye after this week. My guess is that Jimmy G sits.

Jimmy G is mediocre but he has absolutely torched us in the past because we overplay the run and the pass is wide open. Right now I think he's better than Lance but again I didn't watch any of their last game except when ours was at halftime so I missed most of Lance's 2nd half.

Goes both ways if he can play you might play him and then if it's too painful you go to Lance knowing you then have the bye week to completely switch over to Lance. Or they could just switch to Lance now spend the whole week preparing him as the starter against us, but it sounds like they're at least trying to get Jimmy G able to play.

Lance is a better runner and has a much stronger arm but he's very erratic, wide open guys on the sideline he can hit but tight windows etc he's still likely not ready. I didn't see but other than the 76 yard broken play to deebo he was basically 50% about 5 ypa in the 2nd half, one busted play was half his yards. If he starts I expect tons of motion, rollouts and designed plays for him to run because our run defense has been so bad. They will give him nothing but easy throws, screens, rollouts where he reads one side etc.

They beat us doing that last year with a far less talented QB so hopefully that doesn't happen again

It's funny because the bend don't break has worked so far, but I think Shanahan is disciplined enough that he will stick with what's working until it doesn't work. That's pretty much what he did last year in game two.

Expecting a tight game against 9ers. Why?

1. Reading press clips aka Rams did last week
2. Poor run defense where 9ers excel at under Shanahan
3. Cardinals penchant for making rookie QBs look like All=Pros
4. Bad pass rush from Cardinals defense
5. 9ers are desperate. They know they are done if they lose and fall to 2-3 in this division

Will not be surprised by Cardinals loss.
