Trade down 1 spot with Washington and take Shawn Springs.

There's speculation that he may be a cap casualty. I don't know what he's scheduled to earn this year and I don't feel he's an elite corner, but to move down one spot he might worth a thought. What do you guys think?

Whats the point of trading for someone who is always hurt? No thanks

Depending on his contract. Oh, and they'd have to sweeten the pot with another draft pick. And make sure they didn't take who we wanted.

I love Springs, but he's getting old and is hurt a lot. I would have to see which players are there and who our other trade partners are before I make that call.

The Redskins I think are lacking second, third, and fifth round draft picks going into this draft. And I think that they've already traded away their 2008 second-rounder, as well.

I really doubt that the Redskins are going to be in a position to deal.

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. Meh. I guess if his contract is right and we were still sure of getting the guy we wanted, and we had no better offers, we'd be fools not to. Too many ands, IMO.

No thanks. I'd rather get a guy at the start of his career, not someone at the end. I like Springs, but his best days are clearly gone.

Depends on what our scouts feel Springs has left in his tank. It also depends on the value of the #5 spot when it's our turn to pick.

Let's assume for a second that Thomas, Quinn, Russell, Peterson and one of the DT's (Okoye or Branch) are the top 5 guys on most boards.

If either the two QB's or the RB were the one available at #5 and there were teams further down who were desperate to trade up, then the pick takes on huge value. But if both QB's, Thomas and Peterson are off the board, the value of #5 would probably be less due to lack of demand.

Under the right circumstances, if (a) if the scouts felt Springs could improve our secondary even for one year, and (b) moving down one spot would sacrifice marginal value (i.e. we had at least 2 or 3 guys rated evenly at the top of our board at #5) , then why not do it?

I might do it--but I'd have to make that call when we're on the clock to see who was there.

I'm fairly certain that Okoye isn't in the Top 5 of anyone's boards, unless that anyone is profoundly stupid. If that's the case, I hope they're picking in front of us.

Okoye is a 10-20 prospect, not top 5.

I heard a rumor on NFLdraftcountdown that the Dolphins are hot for Alan Branch. I know NFL teams lie alot this time of the year but the Dolphins may be interested in getting ahead of the Redskins for his services.

i like okoye, you've gotta remember his age, at 18/19 this year he dominated. looking at his improvement over the past couple of years against college player when he should have still been in high school amazes me.
