3800 yards passing
29 td
19 ints?
3 fumbles lost
Well, guess what? That is what Derek Anderson threw for in 2007 with a cast of offensive weapons that doesn't compare to what we have now.
Would you take this?
3800 yards passing
26 td's
14 ints
6 fumbles lost
I would guess you would because that's Warner's stats from last year.
Warner resurrected his career under the Whizenhunt Regime. I think when the Cards went out and signed Anderson, I believe they seen a guy they could coach up to a standard they feel would be adequate to win in case Leinart didn't live up to his billing.
Can coaching improve footwork and accuracy? I would think so.
Can a winning system make an average QB better? To some degree.
Will Anderson fully replace Warner? Of course not. There aren't too many guys out there that could.
Is Leinart head and shoulders above Anderson in ANY aspect of his game
other than perhaps knowing the system a bit better? Hmmm. There's food for thought.
We will have our answer to the QB controversy ( if there is one) by Sunday. Remember Leinart played himself out of the starting role against Oakland in the 3rd game of the exhibition season and I really believe it could happen again.
Both guys are 27. Both guys have shown a glimpes of what they are capable of doing. Anderson showed his over an entire season. Leinart has not had that opportunity or should I say never grabbed that opportunity.
Whiz is all about competing for your job. Leinart had better really show up next week against the Bears because no matter what you or I think, there has not been a slam dunk decision on who will be the starting QB. Not as long as Whiz has anything to say about it.
