The #fakenews media at AZCardinals.com. Let's run through some of the fake news stories they promoted all offseason:

  • Honey Badger is back (he's not)
  • Defense looks great in camp (they're bad)
  • Robert Nkemdiche wrecking the OL (he's bad)
  • John Brown is back (he's still gone)
  • The offensive line has never been better (it's rarely been worse -- we're starting two guys who weren't in camp)
  • Hasson Reddick is a stud (he's ordinary)
  • Justin Bethel has figured things out (he played zero snaps last week)
  • Brandon Williams is coming along (he's played 1 defensive snap this season)

AND they've captured Mike Jurecki on RT/AZSports. He came on the Big Red Report (or whatever) to moan about 10 am starts on Tuesday!

The despair on this board is off the rails. We're one game below .500 and we play a winless team next week. After that game, we play 5 of the remaining 8 at home. We're a 7-9 team (probably) who is going to keep providing entertaining home games the rest of the year — even with Drew Stanton. Carson Palmer was 20th in DYAR and 22nd in Total QBR; he's not Tom Brady.

I am not in despair. I just see a team that has appeared to turn the corner away from eternal suckitude that has mysteriously allowed themselves to get back to the doorstep of mediocrity without a sincere attempt to secure a long term answer for the most important position in team sports.
I see a team who drafts and brings in talent and somehow when that talent dons a Cardinal uniform,...it gets worse.

I just want to see my team make solid moves for the future and put people in positions that will actually help our players get better.

the fan in me still roots for the redbirds to win every sunday. but the pragmatists says it would be better for the team if they lose out.

so I will still pine for wins while hoping they lose and get a higher draft pick...

hypocritical I know...I am an emotional wreck. But despair?? Not yet.... despair will not kick in until they start next season with drew stanton as the starting signal caller...or gabbert,...or aj mcarron....
despair may kick in also if they do indeed draft the young QB... but fail to address the starters on the oline.

I see a team run by a coach whose ego is bigger than his ability. When we were loaded his brash and cocky attitude was perfect at the time he came in. But he is the Rhonda Rousey of Coaches. Looked great and backed it up....and then bam. Someone knocked us in our mouth...2 years ago at Seattle. Walked in at 13-2 ...and limped out at 13-3. Barely beat Green Bay by almost losing the Cardinal way...2 hail Mary's back to back. Got blasted in Carolina...and buh bye mystique.
Every one has a game plan Till You get punched in the mouth. Arians hasn't adjusted to that punch yet. And he thinks the magic is still there. By obviously thinking Amos can coach...Bettcher is good....Stanton is a quality starter....our OL line will block....our 2nd CB is solid...the pre determined 20 play script for every game builds leads...our team is elite at present mode. NO!! He needs to look in the mirror and leave the ego at the door....or he will be shown it.

There certainly was a great deal of wishful thinking involved in evaluating this team. It is also a team that suffered far more than its share of major injuries. Finally they all sort of got old at the same time. Some of that was foreseeable, some was not so apparent. The real problem is where do they go from here?

I blame the coordinators, and therefore BA.

There are not enough injuries to blame the roster on defense and special teams, offense has part of an excuse, not not to put up the minuscule points it did against the Eagles and Rams.

It's not that we are 3-4, it's that we look like a bad team with a roster playing worse than it actually is.

I completely agree. The really depressing aspect of this really depressing season is that this team has barely, barely beaten two of the league’s bottom-feeders. And this was, from all reports, going to be a bounce-back type of season. Makes last season’s STs screw-ups even more painful: a team that ranked top 10 in O & D missed the postseason because the STs were historically dreadful. Oh yeah, that’s the other depressing aspect: Amos Jones is still the STs coach.

The Owner makes big bucks off concessions, TV money, etc., his job is to employ executives (GM, Head Coach) to run his enterprise on behalf of the FANS who pay for it all
The GM is paid by the owner to ensure good players are arriving to make a better product for the FANS, to ensure better revenue for the owner
The head coaches are paid by the owners to utilize the players the GM gets and his subordinate coaches in the most efficient and successful manner possible, for the FANS
The players are Independent contractors and extract what they can get and for that are expected to deliver at 100% any talent they possess, for the FANS

The fans PAY FOR IT ALL.
The players owe it to the fans to play at 100% every effing play.
The head coach owes it to the fans to utilize the players (and their subordinate coaches) in the most efficient manner WITH NO regard to 'loyalty' to subordinate coaches or familiar players, their loyalty should be to the FANS who pay for it all, if the players or sub coaches don't produce, the coach must bench or remove ... he owes that to the FANS who pay for it all
The GM owes it to the FANS to remove players AND coaches who cannot deliver on this obligation
The owner owes it to FANS, who PAY FOR IT ALL, to remove a GM who does not honor his obligation to the FANS

it ain't rocket science, we are the 'investors' who, unfortunately, hold NO voting stock... it is up to everybody in that chain to honor their obligation to the FANS, without whom, they don't exist

and the way they have been behaving, they will NOT be attracting new 'investors' and they will all be suffering to some degree from that fact (so it is actually in their own self interest to pay attention and clear the deadwood, all the way up to the Owner)....

LOL entertaining home games? Wow. That's the new threshold now? I guess it's too much to actually expect the team plays some decent football, but as long as we get "Entertaining home games" like the 49ers game of awesomeness that I guess is the new standard of excellence we should be happy.

So... you're saying going deep on 3rd and 1 is wrong???
And going deep on over half your snaps is ill-advised when you have a garbage O-line????

Someone get this man BA's phone#

Snarkiness aside.... I agree 100%
His blind loyalty to dead weight.... is the coup de grace.

Thanks BA... Is was fun while it lasted, and still way better than any other coach we trotted out, but in the end, it just wasn't not good enough.

I see a team that vastly underrated Calais Campbell and their ability to replace him. He is having an all pro year with 10 sacks and is leading a turnaround on Jacksonville.

Media full of BS, yea what’s new? Who do you want covering cards honestly and effectively? I like boring accurate guys - Morten comes to mind. But we are flooded on NFLN by trash talkers that manufatur3 their own news more than report- so bias and if you work for the NFLN you get to hof easier and earlier.

My main beef is with fans that would rather see a sports center highlight than a win. Back to last in nfl in rushing attempts (11) and yards (21) - the news stops there - no balance no winning team, BA admitted it, then went right back to the death of a Cardinal playcalling and practicing. It is not because our RB and online isn’t good enough - it’s because the coaching sucks and the fans are ok with that. Fundementally flawed fans, media, ownership is not ok in winning teams.

Actually, that Seattle stomping happened at home. But that's not the game that bothered me. We weren't going to improve our standing or lose anything so we mailed that game in. No, the game that bothered me was the NFC Championship game. That was the Rhonda Rousey/Mike Tyson moment, not a throw away game in the final week.

unfortunately, the guys not employed by the cardinals mostly do fluff pieces too. There is not a lot of harsh criticism but I guess everyone should be optimistic in the offseason anyway

I blame this organization for trying to squeeze one more year out of a very old and slow team. Last year was no mirage. It's time to re-energize and infuse this team with some youth and fresh new concepts on offense and defense.

+1

I can say I am not in despair. I am not surprised at the results, but I am shocked on how this team got there. A lot of injuries, a lot of changes, a lot of truths being shown over the propaganda (as you point out above), and there has also been a lot of patch work done.

Before Palmer got hurt, my biggest interest was this team coming out of the bye. The team had its patchwork players and they would have had 2 weeks to get a new game plan for the rest of the season. The second Palmer went down, the whole thing became a moot point

It is a lame duck of a season, but you never know in the NFL.

No one underrates Campbell's contributions, but as I've said 100 times and will continue to say until this topic rightfully dies, Jacksonville overpaid him and Arizona was never going to give a defensive lineman on the wrong side of 30 that kind of contract.

Let it go, people.

I blame Keim for not stocking the shelves with offensive linemen worth a damn and thinking that AQ Shipley is a starting center in the NFL. I blame BA for keeping Amos Jones and not demoting Bettcher.

I love BA and Keim, but the two need to change their approach on personnel decisions and make difficult decisions, which go against their loyalties.

Keim drafted Boehm to be the 2017 center. BA and CP like Shipley and wanted him back, so SK complied. BA tried to convince SK that Boehm was the answer at RG so as to further justify bringing Shipley back. We now know how that worked out, to the detriment of the team at quite possibly 2 positions on a much beleaguered and out of sync offensive line.

More of these decision fall on BA and what he asked for, than they do on SK. It's the same reason why they brought Sendlein back three weeks into the pre-season. CP wanted him and thus so did BA, even though BA and HG were high on Shipley taking over. Same thing with Stanton. BA and CP like him.

Stanton's 5 year presence has stifled the Cardinals search for a QBOF....all because BA and CP like him and said it was a "top priority" to re-sign him. Keim obliged, but in the meantime he accommodated BA's request to draft Logan Thomas in the 4th round and when that failed after a mere 14 months, SK traded for Matt Barkley whom BA hardly gave the time of day. And now SK brought in Gabbert, whom BA won't play because of his loyalty to Stanton. It goes around and around and it is in direct line with BA's wishes, not necessarily SK's.

we have brought in line talent but failed to develop it...IMO of course.

that cooper dude looked really good for dallas yesterday...several times I saw him drive his guy 7-8 yards down field on run plays... I know he puttered out in NE too... but maybe he just wanted to play in texas?? either way the talent has always been there..... also, Dorian.... the only reason he slid in the draft was due to concerns over his liver issue, but all the pundits agree on his talent level..... but he comes here and suddenly cant make the team while we field a starting lineup of subway turnstiles??............. SK has done his job and brought in talent... the coaching staff failed.

I blame the defensive coordinator. This is team is so predictable on defense. Bettcher in my opinion sucks at making adjustments. Remember a few years ago the with Bowles running the D they would get out manned in the first half but in the second half Bowels made adjustments and they played much better in the second half. I am not seeing that with this team.

Also can somebody please cover a TE or WR over the middle. To many easy catches over the middle for the opponents.
