Yeah, you can't use averages to measure consistency. You get a 7.1 YPA by having games with 9 and games with 5.

Compare Rams stats with Lions stats for example.
Also, 7.1 YPA is good enough for 20th in the NFL this season. It's basically proving your point.

Kyler's QBR is high because we've had a lot of tight games where he's come to life. He's on pace for less than 3,500 passing yards -- if he's healthy for 17 games. I can't believe he's going to make me sweat out this Over 3385.5 passing yards bet I made. :bang:

The one thing I hope Kyler adds to his game/athleticism is to know when to use deceleration.

He's got the best acceleration in the league at QB, but there are times he avoids sacks and keeps running instead of slowing down to toss a pass to an open man.

He actually did it once vs Miami with a pass to MHJ. Unfortunately it picked up a penalty. However, when Im watching Lamar/Mahomes/Allen they do that quite often. 5 yard run can be a 20 yard pass if he can slow it down and look up just a notch.

There is a stat for every argument. I had him in the 12-14 range before last week and I like him around 11 now. Next 5 games are ripe with pitfalls.

Chicago
Jets
Seahawks
Vikings
Seahawks

If he goes 3-2 in that stretch I will firmly plant him in the top 10.

LOL. I posted literally every stat on PFR where he wasn’t top 10. The only one is QBR.

I understand. I didn't say he was top 10 yet.
FWIW PFF has Kyler 7th in overall QB grades and 8th in passing grades.

But again the low volume in Petzing's offense is hard to tell if it's boosting Kyler's efficiency or not.

K9s stats are fair. Although I'd be curious how early Seattle Russ overall rankings were back in the day cause this seems like that kinda offense (outside the Dolphins game).
Edit: I know Russ Russ had a really good passer rating, but curious on the other passing stats.

Yeah but he's top 10 in vibes and avoiding sacks, so what do they matter?

Wait, I'm confused. You think his QBR right now makes him a top 10 QB?

His average QBR over his career is over 15th. So we can't use his career QBR to rank him, only his current QBR?

But also you can't use Jayden Daniels current QBR and record to rank him in your top 10 because it's "only one season". So which is it? You can't have it both ways.

Dude, Kyler's stats look like that every single year of his career except 2021, where they still largely look like that but he was top 5 in YPA and completion % and 8th in yards per game.

haha. Okay, so one the key words in the debate for the darksiders has become "consistency".

As the spokesperson for that group Stout, please define "consistently good QB play" in the context of this offensive scheme, and personnel group. Either for an entire game, a four game stretch, or for an entire season.
Consistency for me is not laying stinkers as often as playing stellar and putting together whole seasons you can point to and say, "Yeah, this was a good year for him." Pretty straightforward. The best he has achieved in recent memory has been that he was good enough last season to give him another shot. That's not a ringing endorsement. This season, he's had some stellar play, some awful play, and much more in between play. It's a positive that he's played it safe a lot, because he is not losing games through errors, but that is also a negative because in losses he wasn't doing much to win games either. So, this season has been a mixed bag. He's got to find more...well, you know :)

I have. And here's what I saw:

67% completion rate.

YPC = 7.1

4 to 1 TD to Int (wow).

98.0 passer efficiency rating.

Your turn smarty pants.
Those numbers look good but, as I said in a previous post, he's played a lot of "I'm not going to lose us the game, but in no way will win us the game" ball. How much have we been clamoring for some "risk it for biscuit" play? So, yes, good numbers, but not good enough play throughout the season. In certain games, he needs to throw caution to the wind and sling it. I love that he did it last game and hope he can do it more...consistently.

The contortions to avoid the QBR are fun to see.

Meanwhile the top 5 is made up of all the guys you wish we had and non of them are traditional drop back QBs. They are all hybrid QBs except one.
Times are changing.

Facts and context aren’t things the IHKC abide by.. and they just scream and stomp and move on the next irrelevant claim. Make assertions that you are a Kyler lover and can’t see anything else. It’s truly wild, I really question how these individuals deal with real life debates or maybe perhaps this is just their fun at antagonizing on message boards.
